This place is now his mecca. The attire is proper gentlemen's clothes / suits and something a little more special than some of the trash in East London or the cheap nonsense in Central London. If you are a man and a fan of vintage clothes, this should be your first stop - these guys pride themselves on specialising on vintage suits and they really are the best I've found.

Especially good if you want to get things like Morning Suits or DJs. There is a lot of stock, so you may have to search for what you need. The ladies that lunch do so in some glitzy garb. Think sequins and furs, accessorised with some more sequins. I found some of this in this shop. It was like Alexis Carrington was having a throw out. I rather enjoyed it! The shop is very well stocked. More so than I am usually used to. Plenty of clothes. Most of it was for the more mature market, but they were in excellent quality, and did not look old or worn at all. There were also plenty of coats, hats and scarfs here as well. I didn't really see any clothes that I liked, so I headed over to the books. There were three full shelves, lots of videos, and two boxes of vinyl records. I picked up a fascinating book, called 'The History of Magic', it was only £2.00. That is why I love charity shops!

I wonder if it sold more quickly then the M+S clothes? I'm not sure how the S+M gear would have worked in the Princess Alice Hospice. They don't look like they go in for that kind of thing here. It is a very well stocked charity shop - this one seems to have a large selection of mens clothes as well as womens. There is not a big selection of books, like Queen Elizabeth's over the road. The clothes are more for the 50+ market in this shop. Next time I go in, I will keep an eye out for any cat o' nine tails. What can I say? I'm curious!

Although this is the largest stores out of the various charity shops on the street, it seems to have the least stock turnover with a large portion of the store for large furniture. This is great if you are looking for furniture, but if you are a clothes/electronics/books shopper then this store offers limited chances to explore. There is also a large childrens toys section which rivals the size of the mens clothing; a sign that mens clothes are infrequent. All in all, I still visit this place in the hope that something new will appear, but it is not my 'go-to' charity shop in the area!

However, I will make an exception for The Second Look shop in Sheen. The shop sells lovely designer clothes, shoes, handbags and all manner of interesting accessories, and all at very reasonable prices considering they are designer brands. Their merchandise is in good condition, and the shop is laid out in such a way that makes it all very easy to look around (no sharp elbows needed here ladies!) The staff are helpful and don't pounce on you when you enter, so you feel comfortable just browsing around and not pressured to buy anything. With this relaxed atmosphere you don't feel that you have to wait for the next person to come into the shop before you take your leave without purchasing. The shop has also recently benefited from a refurbishment on the outside, so it now looks contemporary and not at all 'second-hand!!! Well worth a visit for a quality designer bargain.

Honestly though, if I had a bottomless, interest-free credit card which I would never have to pay off...this is where I would go. Think of the best pieces of clothing, hand-chosen by the lovely staff here, under one roof for 80% less than the retail price. And the basement level contained the most extensive and impressive collection of vintage dresses and accessories that I have ever seen. I recently got a pair of barely used Citizen capris for £31 here which was very Califiornia of me. VERY-NICE! Don't get me wrong, most of the pieces do cost a bit (think £60 and above), but if I'm paying for barely used, high-end designer clothing it's not TOO ridiculous. No my friends, this is not one of those Rockit type second-hand vintage shops with one wear-able piece of clothing out of hundreds of ratty WTFs...this is an "I want everything, now" kind of place.

Fever is a shop I discovered on Margaret Street, tucked behind the realms of the Oxford Street. The…read moreshop was previously only open for wholesale but has recently been made accessible to the public. A cool feature is that behind the counter you can see the designers at work. The shop features some amazing pieces - all vintage style with funky designs - very unique and unlike anything I have seen before. They also have some great sale items such as a pair of vintage shoes down to £25 from around £60. They sell some gorgeous dresses and it is a shame the shop isn't more prominent. I guess the fashionistas of London are all aware that the true fashion gems are all hidden away behind the High Street giants, so I'm sure this shop won't stay undiscovered for too long!

The new clothes all look great too but I can't afford them. Not to say they're expensive but there were some super cute vintage things priced in the low to mid £20 range which is more in my ballpark and took the bulk of my attention. Although I didn't buy anything on that first trip, I recently returned determined to make one of those vintage dresses mine. I tried on three items from the vintage racks but nothing fit quite right. I was bummed. The staff was pleasant and helpful and I would love to buy something from this shop. I'm not sure how often they replenish their vintage items but I'll be checking in every once in a while for a fresh perusal.
