We're a whole 17 postcodes out of the centre of Liverpool to look at this old-fashioned but very lovely hotel which happens to be well-located for transport links right into the central part of the city, or indeed the airport. It's a popular venue for functions and wedding receptions and while the decor may seem somewhat dated, it's a classic sort of style and is all the way back round to being kitsch and retro.
The staff here are thoroughly amazing. They will bend over backwards to ensure everything is okay and the rooms are sparkly clean and delightful. The building itself is pretty darn impressive too, an old merchant's mansion tucked away in the suburbs near Sefton Park and there's plenty of literature available about the area and the city in general if you're stuck for something to do.
The restaurant is also ample - breakfasts and lunches are available, and the evening meals come with a rather swanky wine list. Overall it's in a great location, the hospitality is second to none and the rooms start at around £85 for a night. Between two that really isn't bad to get a lot of Liverpool jaunts in over a weekend for example, and I for one wouldn't hesitate to go back. Not too shabby for Emma-Lou! And not for you either. read more
