It's such a shame that there are few really great restaurants, cafes or hotels near to the beach and marina that would attract an sustain visitors. Sefton is boosting tourism and attempting to improve the area but this sector of entertainment and leisure is distinctly lacking. The Royal is probably one of the best on offer, It is a grade II listed building and is surrounded by the most picturesque houses along Marine Terrace through York Street, Alexandra Road to the Old Christ Church on Waterloo Road. While it must remain inkeeping with the area there is a sense that it needs a face lift of some sort; it's tired and outdated.
As for the food, it's not bad, I tend to eat anywhere else on South Road but functions are held here which friends and family attend. read more
