Even though most people breeze by here on quick work or business trips the restaurant is always highly recommended with a chef willing to accommodate all needs no matter how late or early you need a bite. Talk about comfy and clean too. The rooms are well equipped and fairly spacious, and the bar and lounge areas are comfy and tranquil. Plus the staff bend over backwards to ensure you're having a good stay, and the place actually manages to retain a lot of character which is unusual considering the sheer volume of corporate-focussed chain hotels you come across these days. The building is lovely, the location is just the right distance from town and transport links but still feels tucked away and peaceful, and everything's mighty efficient. From the outside it looks like a nice old stately home, and it's set in a beautiful area of Wirral known as Oxton, who's village is 5 minute walk away and has some lovely little bars and restaurants in if you don't want to eat at the hotel! It's a quiet place in a quiet area so it's really easy to relax and enjoy some quality time at the Shewsbury Lodge. All the staff are very pleasant and the chef will bend over backwards to make sure you enjoy your food whenever you want too! The rates start at about £165 for two nights in a double bed, which is perfect and affordable! The hotel has a lot of character so I very much doubt that you will be disappointed!

Was here on a work trip…read moreon an upper floor and past midnight there was music playing so loudly downstairs that I could hear it as if it was in my room. Called reception several times before someone picked up, and when I explained my issue the concierge laughed and said "yeah that's a party." Obviously it's a party. I asked if they felt it was acceptable for it to be blasting so loud that other guests were not able to sleep well past a reasonable hour and the response was more laughter and "yes." I have no problem with music and events, but how about some consideration for everyone else who paid to stay at the hotel? They said they would "try" to turn it down, but *spoiler alert* the volume never lowered and neither myself nor my colleagues got any sleep so we spent our time awake leaving our honest reviews.

We stayed one night in this hotel and had a pleasant stay. Although we were not in the room that…read moremuch, the room itself was large and had all the mod cons including tea, coffee, biscuits, TV, ironing board etc. The staff on entrance were very helpful and asked if we needed any help finding places in the local are. There was a wedding occurring on the day we arrived and we felt a bit like we were 'in the way' even though the hall for the wedding reception was behind another door. Walking distancing the sea, and to pubs and restaurants it was in a good location, and with free parking. Hoovering at 9am in the morning on a Sunday was probably the biggest downfall.
