It's a fairly big Stable, they keep pens and the big yard clean for the horses to graze!! They are actually able to be rented and even can reserve a certain horse or horses, how many hrs u need, it's just a cost but well worth it for your child n there friends!! read more

I don't own a horse but I have been to this stable numerous times. I took 4-H classes here when I was in high school and have gone just to see the horses. Most recently when they had their annual open house so I could show my baby the horses. The workers are nice and so are the owners of the horses. You can tell they are very well taken care of and happy. Some have been rescued from abusive situations and are lucky to have found themselves there. I definitely recommend stopping by. Just be careful when petting them. There is one that does not like to be touched because of his abusive background. read more

I am in my third year of adult lessons at Solly, and am involved in the 4H program as a volunteer. I love this barn! And I love the people at this barn! I have physical issues as a result of injuries from other sports, as well as a chronic disease process that began in my early 40's. My instructor is amazing! I am building skills and confidence, and re-learning horsemanship from the ground up. This is not my first barn, but this is the first barn I have been associated with that feels like home. The 4H and lesson horses are healthy, happy, well trained, and well exercised. I know many of the long term private boarders, and can say the same about their horses. The current association inherited a dilapidated mess, and have done wonders with the property since. There is a plan in place for improvements and I see evidence of progress every month. The owners, board of directors and several of the boarders are also very generous with their time and talents, and a crew of volunteers of all ages contributes to the overall success of Solly. In my opinion, based on my experience, Solly Stables is an absolute gem. All that is important to horse husbandry is happening here the way it should. It isn't the fanciest barn, but it is the most caring and most competent facility I have ever known. The 4H and lesson programs are top notch. Boarders get excellent service and a more than fair price. The stalls, arena, turn outs and trails are far more than what you expect from a once neglected barn in the middle of a city neighborhood, and on par with what you would get at a barn in the suburbs. Except at Solly hours of trails are right behind the barn, alongside a beautiful creek. No need to trailer, no need to walk on a road to get to the trail. Solly is a slice of horse heaven, and my personal happy place. I come here as often as possible, to be among the nicest horses and people I have ever known. On a daily basis, people of all ages, and families of all sizes, come to Solly to enjoy the what is certainly the most unique and most enjoyable equine facility in the area. Seeing is believing. I was so sad to leave Solly Stables! I had to move my because I got a new job out of town :( I made some great friends and riding buddies there. They took great care of my horse- he gained weight, his feet improved, and they were like a second family to him when I had to go overseas for a family emergency. This time of year the trails are gorgeous- like a magical fairy land. Solly is always a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I miss Solly!! read more

First I need to state that I loved Solly Stables...with the main word being past tensed...I myself was evicted from Solly...along with my 30 year old Cruiser that had lived there 24 years of his life. I backed Aileen Logan when she brought to the table how wonderful she and her board were going to make Solly beautiful. We donated our time, lots of labor and $500 donation along with a lot of supplies. She wanted to fire Tommy who had worked there for over 25 years because she wanted to hire her son-in-law to work there. There was no way I would let that happen. Tommy works tirelessly at that barn for next to nothing. He is never given a vacation...except for the one day she did give him off for his birthday. He has never missed a day of work...through 100 degree temps to blizzards. One day you will know what Tommy is to Solly Stables. As for me, I am happy where I am now....my horses have plenty of hay, fans on 24 hours, a beautiful indoor arena oh, did I mention the great people that own Amber Acres....they care about the horses and also the owners. Until Solly cleans up the barn and the personnel they will continue to go downhill. There is no daily turnout as per their facebook page...Tommy doesn't get paid enough to clean the stalls and turn out the horses....so unless the owners are there to put your horse out, it's standing in it's 10x10 stall 24 hours a day. You have to buy your own hay if you want your horse to get an extra lap or two. You can have a shareboarder for every day of the week...$120 a day x seven days = $840....so if you're looking to make some good cash bring your horses to Solly...$840 - $475 board = $365 profit!!! Not bad pay for doing nothing. BUT...no hourly rides!!! Sounds like hourly rides to me... The barn is falling apart SSRA....the bathroom was not done by vandals...nice try....how about Mold, and decay. How about the bathroom door that was punched out by Aileen's son-in-law...never repaired except with toilet paper stuffed in the hole where the door knob was. What happened to all the funds that were made in the previous "fundraisers"...oh, she did have new electric put in the main barn.... was that the thousands of dollars raised...Wake up Solly...clean up your act...get a barn manager in there that is people friendly....maybe then you'll have more that 5 boarders.....so sad read more

This is an amazing barn in the Northeast Section of Philadelphia. I was viewing the images that goes along with this Stable on this site, and with my recent visit to the barn those images do not match this place. I recently shot some images of the Barn's Bathroom and other today, as well as every day I come to visit. I've been to other Philadelphia Barns, and I have boarded a horse too in Philadelphia. If I had a horse again, and since I live in Philadelphia in the Far Northeast Section of Philadelphia I would board here at Solly Stables. read more

Lovely place and management. I leased a horse here a couple summers back and had a blast. We had a bit of a trial lesson to make sure we'd make an ok fit and that I wasn't about to ruin their horse, and that was it! I had a wonderful time while leasing and the only thing holding me back from continuing to do so was school getting in the way. I've since recommended this place to friends with younger kids looking to get started riding. read more

I have been taking my daughters to Solly Stables the past 2 years. They have been nothing but nice, helpful and love to help and teach my girls all about these beautiful creatures!! My oldest daughter took the 4H program 2 times and is now taking riding lessons with Caitlin. My younger daughter will start the 4H next fall. My daughter loves Caitlin and is learning all aspects of caring for a horse. All of the people I see there are hard workers, volunteering to keep this barn clean and running smooth! I am confident that my kids are having the best experience here, and are in great hands with Caitlyn as their teacher!!! read more
