Direct, professional, and easy service from Juan! I got my bridesmaid dress tailored here for a reasonable cost and it came out just how I wanted. The dress was much too long and needed to be taken in at the bust. Both the drop off and pick up appointments were very quick, and he was very exact with what adjustments were needed. Wait time was normal, and he will ask you when you need the service completed by. Excellent tailoring service that I would recommend to anyone who needs formalwear alterations. read more

Juan was a godsend to us. My fiance needed a last minute alteration on her bridal wear and we we landing from Canada on Sunday for a Monday wedding. Everyone was closed and others didn't offer to make same day alterations. Juan was so kind when I called him and explained pur situation and he offered to help. I drove straight from the airport in the afternoon and we were at Juan's store around 3.30 PM. My fiance showed the alterations she needed and Juan promised to get it all done for us the same day. His store closes at 5 PM but he promised us that he'll work late if need be to help us on our big day. It was truly the most incredible thing ever. He did an impeccable job in hardly any time and fixed it all for us and messaged us to come pick it up. My fiance loved it and it was truly such a huge relief. I simply cannot thank Juan Solis more and wholeheartedly recommend him and will absolutely visit him for any of our future needs. The best Tailor in the Bay with the most incredible pricing and most importantly a great hear to truly care for his customers. Thank you sir Juan . We will always remember how you saved our day read more

I came to Juan Solis for my wedding suit tailoring and could not be happier! The work he does is of great quality at an incredibly affordable price, while he is also a very kind and an enjoyable person to talk with. I needed a quick last minute alteration just before leaving for the wedding, of which he was very open and happy to help accommodate the last minute request saving us a lot of stress. 10/10, could not recommend more! read more

Warning! Unprofessional, inappropriate and sexist man. I took my beautiful Parisian designer dress to Juan to have it slightly tailored to my preferences. My request: shorten the hem and line the lace bodice with material so it's not see-through. Upon my arrival I was completely confused as to who Juan was. There was a man reclined back on a sofa with his arm behind his neck relaxing watching the TV. He casually glanced over at me and did not greet nor acknowledge me - surely this couldn't be how a professional treats clients so I said a quick hello and glanced around the tiny shop hoping for the tailor to emerge. It was indeed Juan. And in the 20 minutes that I stayed in his uncomfortable-making presence, he remained in that position, on his sofa. He never stood to greet me or even look at my fabric or "fit" me. I brushed it off hoping for the best and put the dress on so we could start the process. I came out and stood in front of the mirror fluffing my dress and trying to engage with him - Juan didn't budge from the sofa. He scoffs at me "hmmmft, why would one buy a dress and want to alter it." Hmm... isn't that why he is employed?! Then he made inappropriate comments on why I was shortening the hem and begged me not to saying "oh you feel you need to show off your legs to get compliments". He then went on to ask "why do you choose such a provocative dress?" - so bizarre and inappropriate. I stupidly stayed for another 10 minutes listening to him flip flop between saying he can do it and mumbling shaming comments. I finally realized I needed to get out of there! I quickly changed wondering if he was mentally stable and if I could be in any kind of danger. Juan, if you are uncomfortable with the beautiful shape of a woman or the clothes that we choose to wear then you are in the wrong profession. read more

JUAN is the best! I have been going to Juan for the past five years and every time I leave with a smile on my face and the best results. His pleasant demeanor and honest feedback is so helpful and leads to the best results. From custom pieces, to quick hems every item is immaculately cared for and completed. There is no piece of clothing that he cannot do. I have sent so many of my friends here and everyone is now a loyal customer. If I could give 10 stars I would. read more

Great job. Work was done on time and to the specs requested. Prices aren't cheap but you get a great alteration

Juan was open on Sunday by appointment. Juan did a simple job for my hat but as you step into his shop,You can see the years of expert tailoring and experience Juan has. I'm so privileged to have met such a great tailor. read more

Juan is an "alteration whisperer!" I received a dress on Monday for an event that I needed to wear that Friday. On Tuesday, first thing in the morning, I went to one place but they couldn't get it done in the timeframe, and then found 2 other places in the area had since closed. Gave Juan a call and was able to drop my dress off. Within 2 hours, it was ready for pickup. I was super impressed with the turnaround since I was stressed about wearing a dress that didn't fit and I highly recommend Juan. read more

Fast, affordable, and great work. Great location in the financial district for tayloring during work.

One of the best, nicest and most experienced tailors I've been to. I am rather petite and came in with a dress for a wedding needing to be altered basically everywhere (taken in, shortened and fitted). He had it ready right on time and the dress fits perfectly. Not to mention, extremely reasonably priced which is almost impossible to find in the city. I got so many compliments and am very happy with Mr. Solis' work. Will definitely be returning! read more

I came across Solis Tailors when looking through best reviewed alteration businesses near me. His five stars are more than well deserved. I brought in a top that needed altering short notice. Not only was his pricing extremely fair but his work was fantastic and he finished the blouse in a very short period of time. I would 100% go back for any other alteration's. Thank you Juan, I look forward to working with you again soon! read more

Juan is a master craftsman. I was truly impressed with the speed of the service. I went in the morning wearing an oversized coat. He messaged me after 5 hours, that the coat was ready. The fitting was perfect. He is very kind and does his best to get the exact measurements to create a perfect fit for you. Given the convenient location, the service fee was very reasonable. (A similar tailoring job in Daly City costed me 1.5x more!) The place accepts cards. It is a little tricky to find the place. The unit is 502, which is unfortunately not specified on Yelp or on the website. Juan is a passionate and seasoned professional and I would highly recommend him for any of your tailoring needs. read more

Do NOT recommend Juan M Solis Tailors - total scam. In my 40 years of bringing clothes in for altercation here and there, I've never seen the tailor unhappy that we were discussing how long we should do the lengths for cutting. My son and I brought in suits for altercations, and we discussed how long we should do the lengths for cutting. After he said he can do it, at night he texts my son saying he can't do it because of my interference. Then he also calls my son to get a life, and mocks at us with horrible words. What kind of professional tailor does not like to discuss altercation detail with a customer? and on top of that, calling a customer names all of the sudden? read more

I was in a rush to get my dress tailored and Juan was kind enough to see me during my lunch break and even get the dress back to me by the end of the day. My dress was too long and he did an amazing job shortening the length and bringing the slit up. He was able to accomplish what I wanted even better than I had imagined possible. Thank you! read more

Love the personal touch. Fair price. Fast turn around time. I got my new shit fitted perfectly.

I dropped by from a friends recommendation. He asked me if I was a student. I said no, but he told me he was too busy for my business. I told him I could wait. I didn't need the job done immediately, since I have 3 months. He told me he's too busy, so I should go elsewhere. Maybe I just look too young and poor? ‍ I'm in my mid 30's, and was trying to recreate a jumpsuit top for my wedding in France this summer. I'm happy to spend a thousand or more to make this jumpsuit (similar to the Rosie Assoulin Artichoke Hearts one) but I guess I don't look the part. Feels like that scene in Pretty Woman haha. Overall it was an unfortunate experience and a waste of my time :( read more

I LOVE JUAN! He is seriously gifted and I tell all my friends to go to him for all of their tailoring needs. He is a master at his craft - he makes bespoke suits! And he is so sweet and professional, and super humble. Being on the petite side (I'm 5'3), I have to get a lot of my clothes altered to fit properly. No project is too big or small or Juan - I've gotten pants/jeans hemmed, coats and blazers altered, and dresses and blouses taken in. He is very fast and his prices are extremely reasonable. Juan always makes sure that you are satisfied or will fix it for free if you aren't happy. Go see him! You won't regret it and will come out looking and feeling like a million bucks. read more

Seriously the best tailor in town. Quick turnaround too!

Juan snuck me in last minute on a Sunday and promised me a 2 day turn around on a blazer that needed sleeves taken in and darts added, along with some jeans that needed to be shortened. 1. High-quality results 2. Unreal speed 3. Fun banter 4. Reasonable prices ($65 for total) read more

Juan did a great job with my suit and a very fast turn around time. Will definitely be back with any alteration needs. Highly recommend.

Juan the tailor is a hidden gem in San Francisco. First off, I'll echo the previous reviews and say that he is incredibly friendly and accommodating. In my case, I was leaving on an international trip in 3 days and desperately needed my dress pants tailored, and most tailors I spoke with couldn't get the job done in time or were charging an arm and a leg. To be fair I had put this off for weeks, but that's another story. Fortunately, I found Juan via Yelp and paid him a visit without an appointment. He was welcoming and gave his honest opinion on what needed to be done, and actually saved me time and money! My dress pants were altered in 24 hours and I was ready to go (and looked great in my suit). And let me add that he suggested using suspenders instead of a belt which was a great suggestion. Juan's prices are reasonable and the quality of his work is excellent. I'll definitely be paying him another visit. Highly recommend! read more

Wow, what an awesome business with incredible service. I showed up out of the blue with two blouses needing minor repairs. Juan quickly fixed them while I sat there for 10 minutes. The quality of his work is evident, and the customer service is outstanding. I will be recommending Juan to everyone I know. read more

For my wedding, Juan tailored my father's suit (waist, sleeves) and also steamed his shirt for free. He also did a great job with my mom's gown hemming. He has a great eye and can tell right away what needs to be altered for a better fit. He works very fast and has super reasonable pricing. He is also easy to reach via text once you have his number and very responsive. I wish I had discovered him sooner! Highly recommend for anyone looking for an efficient and high quality tailor! read more

I concur with all of the other reviews... Juan is incredibly skilled, fast, reasonably priced, super fun to converse with and on top of that he'll give you his honest opinion on whether or not your item needs tailoring in the first place. Anything from wedding suits to halloween costumes he's always game to humor me on whatever asks I have. For downtown SF I wouldn't go anywhere else - Juan is the man. read more

Juan was very friendly and hemmed my suit pants and jacket sleeves to a perfect length in just 2 days. Highly recommend!

I needed some pants adjusted last minute and Juan was very accommodating. Great service!

Juan is a true professional and master of his craft. Quick turnaround, fair and honest pricing and a hidden tailoring gem in the city. Juan was very helpful and sweet. He gave me his honest opinion that the piece of clothing that I had taken in for tailoring actually did not need any alterations. Ultimately he saved me money. I will be going back to him in the future for my tailoring needs! read more

Top quality work on short notice, and for a reasonable price, from a gracious gent. The quiet airy 5th floor workshop was a bonus, nice place to wait. I'll be back. read more

Juan is great! He did a great job with some jacket and shirt alterations. I appreciate that he explained the difference between how a tailor approaches an alteration vs my local dry cleaner. He does quality work. read more

Juan is the best! I asked him to tailor 2 coats: a trench and a sweater wrap coat that was one size only (admittedly two extremely hard things to tailor for someone 5'2") and he knocked it out of the park. He also made me a cute little belt for the wrap coat (completely his idea) out of the extra material!! Btw, he was more excited than I was to show the end product to me, which just shows how much this is his passion. Turn around time was TWO DAYS. Price was extremely reasonable. Bonus: he's like a movie star from the '40s who also happens to quote the Muppets Take Manhattan. Amazing! read more

I was in need of a rush alteration to two pairs of pants. My experience here couldn't have. Even better. Great communication, he was available for same day changes, literally made the changes while I got a coffee around the corner, and the work and price were both fantastic. Highly recommend and will be using again for sure read more

Juan was very accommodating to my schedule and told me he'd wait for me even though he was closing soon. I thought I needed certain alterations done but he gave me an honest opinion even though he could have made more money. Will definitely go back again! He told me he recently started to accept credit cards, and I would recommend that you call to make sure he's available. read more
