I went to my first class and really enjoyed it! I've take some similar classes on pilates machines but the workout felt different (maybe I haven't done it long enough). It's a hike from where I live but I'll be back occasionally. Likes - friendly, high energy instructor who provided instructions pre-class and corrections during class - great upbeat music (a little loud but the instructor is on a mic) - full body workout - hairties, bobby pins, lotion, mints, towels, water fountain available - socks are not required Dislikes - i'm using classpass but general non-classpass pricing isn't great in my opinion - no showers - cubbies with no locks - location isn't as central as other gyms

Love love!! Great coaches. Clean. Great workout! This is where I go for me. There is no better feeling than when I've completed class.

2020 workout goals. I'm an Equinox loyalist (chilled eucalyptus towels for life!) but felt a need to switch things up to continue to see results and keep my mind and body challenged. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, apart from the videos that I viewed online. I do regular mat Pilates, Barre, HIIT-style workouts, occasionally yoga, and incline walking on the treadmill and that is about it. I really had no idea what [solidcore] was about. I recently took a class at the River North location as it is the closest to me. I arrived 15 minutes early as instructed for my first class. I put my heavy outerwear away, placed my items in a bin, and donned the grippy socks that I had packed along (fyi--grippy socks, along with an edited selection of apparel are available for purchase). There was a class right before mine so I waited for the room to get set up before I made my way into the studio. My initial impression was that the room looked reminiscent of Barry's with that low light, nightclub feel, complete with pumping music and mirrored walls. There were about 12-14 Pilates megaformer-type machines lined up in a row. Conor, the instructor that I had booked, indicated which of the machines I should take and gave me a brief rundown on the equipment, all of which promptly went out of my head once the class got underway. Conor's advice that I should simply survive the first class proved accurate. The next 50 minutes passed in a blur of trying to follow along with the instructions, looking at the people on either side of me to try to see what I should be doing, and attempting (unsuccessfully, I might add) not to fall off the equipment. I found my muscles shaking and quivering. I remember holding planks (knees and toes), crunches, moving the carriage back and forth alternating lower body and upper body, army crawls, and tricep dips. Afterwards, getting myself together to face the world again, the person next to me told me that I had chosen the hardest class as my first class. It is probably just as well that I didn't know this going in! I wish that more beginners classes were offered on the schedule. Out of all of the muscle groups, my lower abs felt the burn the most :). I have certainly met my match in this class. I feel accomplished that I persevered even in moments when I felt like walking out of the room. I'm not certain this will be a part of my regular workout routine but I am glad I gave it a shot.

Wasn't able to get into a class despite being less than 5 minutes late and it's impossible to reach anyone who works there

Great workout, lovely studio. The workout is not easy but is such a great burn. I'm excited to add this into my regular workout routine.

[Solidcore] is a full body workout, and really gets that sweat going (and Pilates reformer classes usually don't do that for me).

That excitement was extremely short lived. At one point during my visit there was a guy being trained on the Pilates reformer, the step class AND a separate strength training class in ONE TINY room with no separation. As you can see in the photo those in the step class are steps from the reformers. So distracting!!! The conversation and commentary from the other classes were louder than the music at most times and they weren't even loud...they were just 5 steps away and the music was being played on a small google home. If you don't have the space and equipment to offer your customers the experience they are paying for why offer the class?? If I hadn't paid money to take this class this experience would just have been comically bad but I did. So unacceptable and cheap!

She truly understands bio-mechanics and how the body and mind work together. After suffering with lower back pain for years, and 3 rounds of Physical therapy with no improvement I switched over to Pilates and the improvements have been amazing. Switching from what I call "normal" Pilates to Alyssa was a HUGE step up. My herniated disc has caused my glutes to not fire correctly in certain movements which exacerbates back pain. Working with Alyssa has really helped my brain to help fire the glutes properly. Look bottom line is, she is not your standard Pilates instructor. Alyssa goes way beyond that. She's like a master of understanding the body. If you're a serious athlete, suffer from some form of pain, or just simply want to improve you're bodies functions and feel stronger in a way no other workout can do, Evolve and Elevate is perfect for you.

My FIRST pilates class in the books, and I couldn't have picked a better place to do it! A friend…read moreof mine has been going to Core Chicago Pilates classes for about a year, and I was finally able to join her for a class last night! Core Chicago has two floors for classes, and ours took place in the upstairs space. Our class held 4 people, so it's very intimate and makes it easy to get 1:1 attention with the instructor! Reform pilates classes can be super intimidating because the machinery looks like a medieval contraption to those of us newbs! Luckily for me, our instructor Maggie put any nerves I had at ease right away. She was SO welcoming and immediately walked me through the reformer and how we would be using it in this class. She also made a point to ask if I had any injuries or muscle/joint issues to be aware of. The class itself was so much fun, but still challenging. I loved being able to train my body in a new way, while also incorporating stretches and not being completely exhausted and burned out afterwards. Maggie assisted me every step along the way, and never made me feel bad for being new and totally clueless! She also showed me minor tweaks in form that made the BIGGEST difference. I really loved my class here overall and will definitely be back! It's a fun workout that's challenging and a great way to switch things up from the regular gym routine.

Very welcoming and friendly. I felt almost immediately comfortable and I rarely like group classes.read more
