9/21/20 I recently…read moreconcluded an outdoor living transition project with Bogart Masonry. The project had lots of miscellaneous aspects to it but focused on removing and repairing old concrete defects, pouring new concrete in various areas of my yard that were previously dirt, and installing outdoor tile on top of old and new concrete to create a uniform, contemporary hardscape. Proper sloping and drainage were a challenging and important part of the effort given the impacted area was significant and had an existing pool centrally located within it. It was a great experience and they did a great job! My outdoor space looks wonderful! Jared Bogart, who owns the company, was excellent to work with. He was honest and trust-worthy, organized, pragmatic, flexible (e.g., not bothered at needing to work around an issue I had for a bit of time), calm, fun to talk with, and a very strong communicator (e.g., regularly did check-ins and updates with me, educated me on the process and various topics along the way, responded quickly to texts or calls, and ensured any concerns or questions I raised were being appropriately addressed in a timely way). His on-site leaders (Elias & Damien) and their teams were also excellent. I was consistently impressed with the skill they demonstrated in tackling their craft and transitioning my hodge-podge of landscape surfaces into a beautiful outdoor living space. Their consistently friendly demeanor (despite the very hot summer sun they worked in), positive attitude, genuine desire to quickly address any questions or potential concerns I had so that I was happy, and focus on making my yard look beautiful was great. I regularly felt the work quality standard they applied to doing my home, which was very high, was the same they would have used on their own place. Working with Bogart Masonry was a very positive experience. I will use them again the next time I have a need and encourage you to consider them for your project.

In June I asked several masonry companies to prepare proposals for two new 400 square foot patios…read morearound my Palm Springs condo. The existing pavers (set in mortar on a concrete slab) were cracked, the patios did not drain correctly, and I had no irrigation lines for the flowerbeds. I contracted with Jared Bogart of Bogart Masonry to complete the work. Bogart broke up and removed the old patios, re-graded the areas (eliminating an odd slope in the middle of one of the patios), installed the pavers in sand with concrete edging, installed two automatic drip systems, and placed decorative boulders where I wanted them. The job was difficult in that one of the patios faces a golf course and has no street access. This required the workers to lift all the old concrete and pavers, as well as significant excess dirt, manually over two garden walls and then into wheelbarrows to the street. The new sand, decomposed granite and pavers had to be lifted into the back patio the same way. Bogart completed the entire job ahead of time and within budget. I was kept in the loop at every step and only went to the job site when decisions had to be made regarding patio dimensions or irrigation system placement. Jared Bogart went out of his way to ensure that all exterior condo windows and walls were protected and that I was satisfied with the work. The project was left totally clean and neat, and the HOA President had nothing but good things to say about the workers and the job. Stay away from this overpriced, highly unprofessional outfit…read more Cruz, the owner is a very unpleasant, self-serving individual bent on extracting maximum price and impose upon customers what he calls "his rules" of doing business and extracting maximum price tag. Had Cruz came to my place to give me a quote after I shared pictures and explained what the issue was. He was overbearing, giving his "rules", implying it was a "custom" job to extract higher prices. It actually is a typical dry-wall issue affecting a small area. Gave me sky-high prices, saying that moving furniture was not part of the job and would be extra. Have you ever heard of a dry-wall company that does not consider moving furniture out of the work area as part of the job? I haven't. The prices he gave were 100% marked up above what others charge. He told me to take it or leave it. I said, could I at least suggest a price I think is fair? He was not receptive, but agreed to hear. I was able to get 25% off. He agreed right away, which was evidence that he super-inflated prices to begin with and a meager 25% was still way above the market rate. He came 2nd time to "start" a job. I moved all the furniture by myself, prepared the room. Oddly enough, he didn't come to start a job as we agreed upon the day before. He came with a pad where he had written his "rules" again. Before he would begin his job, he wanted me to "hear" his rules again, and sign. His rules were odd. And I formed the impression that he had had many conflicts before with customers and wanted to get customer's signature under his rules. Innovative approach for a dry wall company considering a routine job? Maybe Cruz needs to have his "rules" on his website, so that customers know beforehand if they want to proceed with him? He would only cut a certain size of the dry wall. If he finds out more is needed, that's extra. Insulation was not included. It was extra and unspecified. If the leak was found and needed to be addressed, that's extra. If he does not find the leak, it was not his responsibility and the issue that need to be dealt with. Isn't water damage a typical issue with dry walls? (I called his company because he claimed to have plumbing skills). I told him I would go with him to Home Depot to buy insulation, because he price he quoted seemed too high. My suggestion seemed to upset him, and he became very nervous and angry and said he wouldn't want to do the job - after I prepared the room for him and we agreed on everything the day before. He seemed to come determined not to have this job and confront me with his "rules" again. I got the impression Cruz did not care for me as a customer, as he told me he had "many customers" and was looking for an easy job to extract maximum price on his terms where every little step was to be priced separately depending on how it goes. To build himself up, he said he was accustomed to do multi-million dollar homes ($10 + Million homes to be specific) and showed me a picture of a barn that was one of his jobs. When I smiled and asked him whether it was a multi-million dollar house, he was visibly embarrassed. When a contractor comes to my house, which is a fair priced house in an affluent neighborhood, and tells me he does $10 +Million dollar homes, am I supposed to feel special that such a high-flying contractor condescends to consider doing a job in my "humble house" and agree to pay $10 +million home price tag for his job? I formed the impression Cruz was not comfortable with my experience of dealing with many contractors before and felt he couldn't treat me as a gullible customer who is willing to pay way above the market rate. Good riddance. I noticed a few reviews that echo my experience with Cruz as an price gauging outfit. I hope my experience will help other customers to avoid this outfit.

We have engaged Armando Sauceda's services twice, and in both cases were extremely happy with the…read morequality of work, the pricing, and his professional follow-through. We bought a wonderful brand-new home in Del Webb Rancho Mirage in 2018. While the builder offered many upgrades, when it came to the kitchen backsplash and owner's suite shower, we didn't see what we wanted. We knew we'd need to hire a contractor to do the kind of unique touches we wanted. They were final touch projects, after pool, yard, and a few other things. Then COVID happened and we didn't want anyone in the house. When things started to ease up, it was time to finish the house. We were first introduced to Armando as he was the subcontractor who was brought in for a glass company in Palm Desert who was "taking all comers" and then subbing out the work. The owner was a bit disingenuous, and we wound up working with Armando directly. The first project was the kitchen backsplash, which we wanted mirrored. Something different to add a little light and give the kitchen a more open feeling. We got EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED at a fair price. West Coast Glass Window and Door is not the "cheapest" option. But far from the most expensive, and the cheapest option is almost always a disappointment. A few months later we remodeled the owner's suite shower. The glass guy that contractor had lined up jumped ship at the last second for a larger, more profitable job. He wouldn't be available for weeks. We contacted Armando and he was onside within 4 business days (lightning speed in contractor time). The glass was installed about 3 weeks after initial contract regarding the project. The downside of frameless glass enclosures is that they're not inherently "water-tight." We knew this going in. Especially if one of the door seams is right next to the shower head, as is the case with our shower. Armando came back a few times at no additional charge to do a couple of tweaks, and we're VERY HAPPY with the result. If there's ANY leakage at all, and there usually isn't, it only takes a 5 second swipe of the floor with a towel. The house is finished. But if we had another glass project, we'd call Armando.
