The photos are copies of Solena / Solena Landscape bad mouthing a prior vendor that they were happy with until they decided to compete against them. Mitch even promoted a commercial of himself promoting/gloating about them prior to the change. It is sad to see them tear down another company with false information just because of the competition. Is this the type of company you want to work with? Solena L. 113 friends 4 reviews 10/10/22 Great looking product, but prepare for delayed delivery dates and terrible customer service when you call concerned. Unfortunately we found the owner to be the worst culprit. This company only supplies the pieces...ur on ur own when it comes to the construction and installation of the patio cover. I'd try Vergola or Equinox next time. Much better product and better customer service. Smart Patio Plus publicly responded Hi Solena Landscape, Our records indicate that you purchased our material in May of 2020 and have not communicated with us since. We have an office staff of 12 including a dedicated customer service department and customer service manager. You have not called us since you have taken receipt of your material and the patio installed - which was over two years ago. Clearly this is not about bad customer service, product, or the owner. This is about Solena Landscape now choosing to represent other products and bad-mouthing the competition. The only delays we experienced were post-pandemic when the world shut down. Our lead times were slower than what we would have loved to have given customers at that time, but still many months quicker than other suppliers, including the ones you listed in your review. Your promotion of "Vergola" and "Equinox" lead us to believe you are a new dealer that cannot compete with our excellent service, product, and quick lead times, and all the reasons why we sell over 1,000 patio systems a year. As of the date of your Yelp review, your website has a video of you personally boasting about our louvered patio. One would not do that if they were not overly joyed with the product and overall experience we provide. Although Yelp may not understand the legality of false reviews, you are liable for slander and defamation and we take this very seriously. Solena Landscape finished a 7-week project at our commercial property a few weeks ago. The crew was here on time every day, worked safely and the project was on budget. There was extensive demo involved of the old landscaping and numerous trees removed, all without any issues. Our irrigation was replaced, new sod along with a concrete walkway. Their plant selection was perfect, and the size and quality of the new plants and trees was impressive. Job well done and would recommend them to anyone looking a high-quality landscaping project. Thank you to Mitch, Chelsea, Hugo, and the rest of the team for a job well done. read more

Took almost a year to finish a job, very high prices and hard to deal with. I would not use these people unless your prepared to wait 6-10 months for the job to be complete and thats if your lucky. They blow you off when you call and make up excuses. Lots of pool guys in the area, do yourself a favor and call another! read more

Had a yard full of dirt and weeds. Interviewed four different landscaping companies. My wife and I were looking for a professional lanscaper who was creative, professional, reliable, and bonded and liscensed and had an in house crew. We found that in Mitch Kalamian who owns Solena and his hard working crew of professionals. Mitch was very creative during our landscape design which cost us $ 250 for the visit and a hand drawing, but was worth every penny. He was always available to answer any questions and provided a fixed price quote to complete the design plan. We were lucky and Mitch had a cancellation within 2 weeks of making a decision to hire Solena. Once we hired them they were off and running and completed the entire project in 1 week. We had anywhere from 8 - 12 people working in our backyard all working very hard. You need to be on your toes to stay ahead of the crew. Hugo the foreman of the crew was very capable, knowledgeable, organized, and personable. Our project consisted of installing a DG area (8 ft by 40 ft), a vegetable box, a fire pit, bringing in fill and leveling the back yard, lanscape design, installing St Augustine sod, setup for a fountain by others, purchasing and planting the plant life, installing the sprinkler and plant watering system, and demo, design, and planting two front yard flower beds. It came out fantastic and several of our neighbors commented that our landscape project propelled our house to the best in the neighborhood. Best of all we have enjoyed many fun evenings with friends and family both BBQing, sitting out listening to the fountain, and watching the fire in the fire pit. Solena is not the least cost landscaper, but we received just what we paid for and it was high quality, ahead of schedule, and on budget. If we had to do it over again we would do it the same way. Very satisfied. read more

My wife and I moved to a new home that needed a lot of remodeling inside and out. We tackled the inside first and worked our way to the outside (landscape/hardscape stuff). When it came time to look for a professional landscaping company I did my full research with about 4 different companies with prices and quotes all over the place with the same type of idea and plan my wife and I wanted. Solena was the only one that I felt was real, and could trust. I can't say enough about the company top to bottom m. Lori from the office was so prompt and organized with great communication on everything. Jacques was so great who oversaw the project manager (Hugo) on my job. We gutted our front and back yard and everything Jacques and his team did was right on point and on time. We had new concrete poured, artificial grass, new front deck put in and some drip systems for our planters. If you are looking for a trusted, family type landscape company I can't recommend them enough. Very professional and trusted with great workers who respect your property. read more

We're very happy with Solena Landscaping's work on our backyard lawn and new deck. Mitch made several advance visits to discuss plans with us before getting started. He had quite a few good suggestions on the landscaping design, selection of plants and trees, and choice of materials for the deck. Once underway, Solena focused their FULL attention on our job, and did not multitask with other projects. The crew was professional and skillful, and offered ideas and solutions when needed. They brought their own Porta Potty during the project, and cleaned up everything afterwards. The preparation for the new lawn was amazing. They turned over the ground completely, regraded and rolled it, installed a new sprinkler system, and trimmed the new sod to fit perfectly around trees and against hardscaping features. The photo of the lawn (below) looks down the slope, and shows how naturally it fits around the trees and stepping stones (also Mitch's work). Lemon and pepper trees and ground cover were added as well. The closeup photo shows our new stone-and-wood poolside deck, with integrated lighting. Solena's craftsmanship is readily visible in the close-up. One other important factor -- Mitch and Solena completed the project on budget. We recommend Solena highly! read more

Total self promoting dollar hungry jerks. I call the company tell them what my project entails and they agree to come out and meet me. I meet their representative he takes measurements draws a planning map, understands I want a simple water tolerant design and tells me he will give me an estimate in a few days. At the end of the day I receive and email telling me that my project does not have enough "wow" factor for them to put their name on my home project. Basically there is not enough money in my project and we want to up sell you so we can self promote ourselves and make more money off of me. read more

Solena landscape was great to work with. Their team of workers showed up in uniform with the same shirts. My neighbors even commented on how professional and courteous they were. Solena Landscaping created a welcoming tropical backyard and a magical courtyard for our 1950s modern house that not only complimented the style of the home, but brought these spaces to life. The backyard now features a tropical palapa structure designed by Solena. Overhanging the pool, it has become a place for both relaxation and play. The Solena-created outdoor kitchen is easy to use and blends seamlessly into the design of our house. Solena listens to its customers. I wanted a magical, unusual courtyard - one where fairies and gnomes would like to live and play. I got just that ... with fairy houses and enchanted foliage. Our previous courtyard art, including our fountain, was incorporated into the design, saving us money. We especially appreciate the post-installation support provided by Solena. We had one problem - plants that were not happy - and that was solved almost immediately to our satisfaction. We recommend Solena Landscaping to anyone who desires creativity, personal attention and the highest quality service read more

When we began the undertaking of a new landscape concept for our backyard, it was clear that a well thought out design was critical to its success. One of my primary concerns was that our yard was relatively large and not conventionally shaped. We knew the designer would be challenged in creating the proper flow that would tie in the yard's shape with the features we were looking for. We also knew that this project represented a major investment and we needed to feel comfortable with the designer. That's why we chose to work with Solena Landscape. From our first contact with Mitch, we felt very comfortable with him, not just because of his wealth of knowledge, but also because he was very sensitive to our input. Mitch was very thorough in his explanation of the design process, beginning with a dialogue about our ideas and concepts. He then spend time doing an inventory of measurements, sun/shade impacts, privacy concerns, theme concepts relative to our home, and basically trying to feel out what we wanted balanced against the palette our yard provided. Mitch then drew up a basic design and we met again to further process and refine. Again I can't emphasize his patience with our needs and his gentleness with his recommendations based on our input. We met several more times before completing the design. Every step of the process served to build on the previous meeting. It was a pleasure to have his expertise and guidance as me moved though the design phase. The end product was a design that incorporated our dreams better than we ever envisioned. We could not have selected a more professional designer. We are very grateful to Solena Landscape in their efforts to make our dream outdoor living space a reality. read more

We used Solena Landscape for construction on our backyard remodel. Mitch and his crew were professional, easy to work with and attentive to all our needs. Solena constructed a fire pit, built-in BBQ, concrete patio and patio cover. They also installed new stone on the front of the house. Mitch had good ideas throughout the process that helped us achieve our goals. All craftsmanship was very good, and we are very happy with the outcome. read more

I reviewed Solena Landscape 2 1/2 years ago when they did our (small) front yard. At that time, Mitch provided us with a design and quote for our backyard, but we decided against engaging in that project at the time. Fast forward to end of 2017, Mitch Kalamian and his crew led by Hugo (who has been with Mitch for many years) recently completed this project. We did obtain a couple of other bids to see if we could cut down on cost with a similar design. We narrowed it down to 2 bids- Solena Landscape (because we knew their work from our previous house and the front yard of our current home) and Landscape Contractor ABC (we'll just leave it at that). It was a bit of a tough decision because ABC Company's bid was quite a bit less than Solena's bid for a comparable design (although not the same). Since we had a relationship with Mitch, we let him know that we were debating because the other company was so much lower and for obvious reasons, we would probably go with them. Mitch offered to review their bid for us to make sure it was truly comparable. Thank goodness we had him do that because there were several questions he had us pose to the other company to verify that certain items were apples to apples. It turns out there was one MAJOR omission in the other contractor's bid. Despite several discussions about the huge dirt slope occupying almost 2/3 of our yard and how we could get more usable space, Contractor ABC's bid did not include the cost to excavate and grade the slope and the dump fees, which was a pretty significant cost. When we pointed that out to the contractor rep, he didn't even realize it, he sort of glossed over it and advised us he would update the quote. But he kept urging us to give him a final decision because they were beginning to get booked up and if we didn't sign the contract ASAP, we might have to wait 4 - 5 months. Well, obviously we had no intention of signing any contract and giving him the business with such a major oversight just in the bid process. I can't imagine what other oversights may have come up in dealing with this company. When we added back in the cost of that omission, it really closed the gap in cost from Solena's quote. At that point, we felt the right decision was to go with Solena since we knew first-hand the quality of their work and the professionalism and reliability of Mitch, Hugo and the entire crew. And we are so happy we did, we LOVE our new backyard. Mitch, Hugo (crew leader), and the entire crew at Solena Landscape are true professionals. Never before have I worked with a contractor or crew that came anywhere near this team in terms of expertise, proficiency, creativity, reliability, and trustworthy. They aren't the cheapest out there, but you truly get what you pay for, and the extra cost you may see when comparing bids is well worth it with Solena Landscape. I wholeheartedly recommend this team and their services without hesitation. Mitch is an extremely talented designer. He was able to transform rough ideas and sketches into a masterpiece. Hugo and his crew then executed Mitch's vision perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with the end result. read more

We moved into a beautiful neighborhood. Our house was nice but needed something more. We got a postcard in the mail from Solena Landscaping, and we decided to contact them because our entire yard (front & back) needed a makeover. At our first meeting with Mitch, we were hooked. He showed up on time, was very professional and spoke with confidence. We liked that he listened to what we had in mind, but since he was the professional, he designed our yard better than we could have even imagined. We had a few "musts" that we asked for, and Mitch went out of his way to provide our small yard with as much "WOW" as possible. We received several other bids on our yard. Mitch was neither the highest nor the lowest, but we were so happy that we went with Solena. His crew was always here working and at the end of the day, they did their best to clean up and put everything in order. It was so awesome to watch the progress of our yard take shape. They even waited for me to get home one day with our granddaughters so we could put their hand prints in the wet cement. (They couldn't have been kinder and more sincere. That effort scored big points with us.) When we had questions, we were always able to make contact with Mitch or his #1 foreman and the job ran as smoothly as was possible. If we had to call his office, they were courteous and had Mitch contact us ASAP. We have received so many compliments on our new yard as well as the stone work we had done on the front of the house. We later had french doors and a garden window added to the back of the house so that we could really appreciate the beautiful back yard. read more

Mitch and his crew and Solena Landscape did an amazing landscape project on our home. From the beginning Mitch was very helpful and insightful in helping us to establish a clear and beautiful vision for the project. He was quickly responsive to any questions that we had before, during, and after completion. The cost was upfront and reasonable for the masterful work that was done on our home. During the project, the crew arrived everyday and worked at an incredibly efficient pace, while producing a high-quality result. They kept everything neat and clean. Mitch sent me daily progress emails and road-mapped the tasks that were upcoming. After the project, Mitch and his foreman Hugo came by to make sure that everything looked good, was growing well, and working properly. We love the new look of our home and have received numerous compliments from our neighbors. I can tell that Mitch and his crew take great pride in their work. I am so glad and thankful that I chose them to landscape our home. I would give Solena Landscape my highest recommendation! read more

When I first contacted Solena Landscape, my mission was to create an "EPIC" pool. I gave Mitch my vision and he took it from there. What they delivered was beyond my highest expectations. They completely transformed my backyard in to an amazing paradise with rock waterfalls, a sunken fire pit, grotto, slide and 16 foot projector screen. Mitch, Hugo, and the entire crew are incredible artists and masters at what they do. The quality, details, and professionalism exceeded all expectations. Mitch and his crew at Solena Landscape have just completed an amazing transformation of my backyard. I selected Mitch after having observed him for several years doing projects in my neighborhood. I was always impressed by his designs and the speed with which projects were completed as well as how the work held up over time. He and his crew went above and beyond my expectations completing a pool remodel as well as all new hardscape and softscape. They remained on schedule, maintained excellent communication, and were respectful of my budget. Mitch's attention to detail and vision has turned a very dated backyard into a paradise that I will enjoy for many years to come! read more

We recently moved into a new home which had a pool but no spa. Our project initially started as only wanting to add a spa to the existing pool. Mitch with Solena Landscape came highly recommended to us so we made our first appointment with him. Mitch said when he looked at the address he thought it looked familiar to him. When he arrived at the house he realized that 18 years ago he remodeled the existing pool and backyard(such a small world!). We felt very comfortable with Mitch and his capabilities. Our conversation changed from only adding a spa to the idea of what a complete new design with new pool, spa and hardscape would look like. My husband said to Mitch "give me a "WOW" factor design and we will go from there." In our front yard we were in the process of changing our landscape to drought tolerant plants and decided we wanted to also change the hardscape. Mitch said his schedule was really tight but knowing that we had a deadline to meet with the city he said he would make it work for us. When we meet with Mitch to go over the initial design we were very pleased. He had designed a plan that really did create the "WOW" factor my husband was looking for. But that was not good enough for Mitch. One of the things we really liked about Mitch was midstream, once the front yard project was under way, he came to us and said "I have a better idea for the front yard design" and he was right. He is always thinking of ways to better his projects instead of just taking the easy road. We love his vision and creativity. The backyard is absolutely amazing! We had several changes along the way and in the end they were worth it all. We truly feel like we are living in a resort. We just can't say enough about our experience with Solena. Hugo, the foreman on the project, is the best. He was always on the job, very dedicated and has great follow up. All of the crewmembers are very qualified and conscientious and the quality of their work is superb. John, the pool contractor, and Mitch have been working together for years. They worked side by side and nothing ever fell through the cracks. Mitch and John are both very meticulous and want everything to be perfect for the homeowner. If you ever want a pool and spa only use Solena. Their follow up is excellent! Thank you Solena for going over and beyond our expectations. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment! read more

We invited Mitch Kalamian to submit a plan and estimate, to demo and completely re-do our backyard in Huntington Beach. We extended this offer to 3 other landscape companies. The plans were to include an in-ground spa with water feature, stacked stone fireplace, patio flagstone flooring & cover, plus lush landscape and trees to compliment the hardscape. His plans were so much more detailed with explanations for the project's components, spacing, plant choices and budget considerations... there was really no comparison to the competition. The work was completed as envisioned: Within the time estimated; In a clean and orderly fashion; And we experienced no problems that weren't immediately rectified after the job completion. What we particularly liked about Mitch, is that he encouraged our input... even bad input. We had ideas, but they didn't always fit the overall project concept. He explained the whys AND why-nots of both our and his ideas. Eight years later... we still get compliments. And we still love it. Thumbs UP! read more

Solena Landscaping, including Mitch Kalamian, its chief architect and contractor, and Hugo and the rest of the construction crew, have provided us with a magnificent landscape plan that has been superbly constructed. Mitch completely revamped our decades-old landscape, putting in a very modern, eco-friendly design that featured many distinctive touches: a front courtyard area with ceramic fountain, a beautiful sweeping driveway design with pavers, distinguished side gates, a covered patio, spa, exercise pool with Riverflow controlled current, fire bowls with water features, dramatic and colorful lighting, and a heated redwood shower and changing area. Mitch is a master designer who works in a collaborative, creative, and inclusive manner, leading with great ideas and seeking the homeowner's vision as well. He is very straightforward, deliberate, and honest in his planning and contracting, fully bonded and insured, precise in his calculations, transparent and responsible with work order changes, and very meticulous about handling every design and construction detail down to the last refined edge. Solena Landscape has a staff of artisans who have worked happily with Mitch for many years, and watching his crew constructing exacting wood, plaster, and stonework has been a revelation. In addition, the crew is courteous, communicative, thorough, and responsible, taking genuine pride in their craftsmanship. By the end of the project, we were almost sorry to see them finish, as the group had been a welcome addition to our home. We recommend Solena Landscaping, Mitch Kalamian, and the crew, with our highest praise and satisfaction. read more

We had a crazy awful backyard and a small budget. Mitch worked with me to get all the elements I wanted but still be within my budget. He was very involved in the process and always had input into decisions--for example my plan called for a deck, but the decking materials put me way over budget. Mitch suggested several potential solutions, and from those I chose stained concrete. He helped me pick the stain color, and the layout of the concrete, so that the whole yard is cohesive and flows well. Mitch is very communicative, and his team is amazing. They are so clean, so courteous, that it was actually pleasant to have the guys around. These guys have in-depth knowledge of what they are doing. They made me a custom wall fountain with beautiful tile that will withstand all the antic of my three kids. Everything is built to last but still elegant too. Great to use a local company with all local guys as well. read more
