I'm new to town. I came in for fill in and pedi. Why my pedi take 1 1/2 hours. I fell asleep twice. Went to get a gel pedicure. Greeted warmly and immediately seated for it. The lady doing the manicure was a bit rough with my feet and yanking my feet out of the water. I understand businesses need to make money but I did not enjoy being asked multiple times for additional services and upgrades. The pedicure was nice, and they do a good job. But they are not transparent with designs when they can't do them. I came in asking for pink chrome, showed them a photo and he said yes. I then told him im allergic to gel, and need to use regular polish and he just nodded his head and asked if gel again. I normally get push back on gel because they think I just don't want to pay for it vs I can't because I'll have an allergic reaction. He then painted my nails pink, and said all done. I said what no, wheres the chrome? And they said can't do chrome on regular polish, only gel. ???? Why didn't they tell me that when I asked? I would have done a different design, not just left it the random pink color. My sister also had a hard time picking designs, she wanted silver french tip, and they said no they don't have the color. Ok, so he told her to pick from the book, she debated and found a different green, he then said oh no don't have, pick again. Id say for basic pedicures it's fine, or if you can do gel you may have better chances, but elaborate designs and clear communication--this isn't the place. The place is clean and with or without an appointment we've been able to get our typical services started - acrylic full set/fill in, designs, gel polish - within 15 minutes of arrival. I have been coming here for close to a year now and love it. Molly is the best for manicures of any kind. I have received gel and gel X from her along with acrylic and she nails it every time. She specializes in shaping and application. I see bihn for my pedicures and he always does a thorough job and it's so relaxing. I get the deluxe pedicure and he takes his time with the exfoliating massage and oil application. My skin is always soft and smooth after sitting in his chair. I have been looking for a nail salon to come to as a repeat customer. I have tried a few in the Huntersville area and my experiences have been terrible. At other salons I experienced nail techs that were not good at all, high prices for dip power or gel manicures, and expired products that should be thrown out but continue to be used regardless of the horrible results. Solar nails is the first salon I have been to that had none of those issues. I am now a repeat customer of Mimi and she is a great nail tech! I was worried about getting a hard gel manicure since the previous tech at a different salon did not file my nails and left my nails lumpy. Mimi assured me that she would handle the manicure properly and she did not disappoint! She knew that I was extremely worried about the service and took her time to reassure me that I was in capable hands. And she was right! I have finally found a nail tech in the Huntersville area that I would highly recommend! Also, the salon is always clean and well presented. I went with my daughters to get mani/pedi's as part of my daughter's 16th birthday weekend. They were very welcoming and there was no wait time which was great. My older daughter and I got a gel manicure and it came out great. Unfortunately, my younger daughter's- the birthday girls - nails did not turn well at all. She was taken care of by a young lady who was in training. When I noticed how bad the manicure was, I expressed my concern and they agreed that we could come when we wanted to fix it. We agreed to this, then they asked if they could redo it before we were about to leave. We agreed to have her nails redone, they did, and it was rushed, better but not great. So my take away is, they should alert a customer, when someone in training is taking care of a customer, and if dissatisfied , offer a discount, and don't ask customers to pay before the service is completed. I would not recommend this place. I came in for just a soak off and left with acrylic still in my nail and an infection a few days later. I noticed while the tech was taking my nails off she would go back and forth between me and the woman sitting next to me using the same drill head. Very UNSANITARY. They also only do cash, cash app, or Venmo for tips. If you don't have either you're gonna have to walk across the street to the Walgreens ATM. read more

I went in with an original idea for my nails but didn't like it so she went free hand. Design came out good...just a little too Christmas-y for right now. I went here to get my nails done. This place was open in Sunday. There is plenty of parking. The place is nice and clean. The staff was friendly they took their time on my nails. The had about 17 pedicure chairs and about 12 seats for getting nails done. They had a variety of colors to pick from a book. They had nice music playing in the background. They had USB chargers connected to the tables where you get your nails done. I thought that was a nice touch. read more

First time visit to Solar nails. Went for a pedicure and to get a full set of acrylic nails. The staff are really pushy with getting you to add on extras. Example, just needed a regular pedicure but was talked into the hot rocks. I just wanted to use regular nail polished but was harassed into using gel polish. Made appointment for both pedicure and vinyl nails, but was set to the side for toes to dry and forgotten and had to remind them that I was supposed to get nails done. It took 45 mins between pedicure and nails to get done. After I had nails done, I found out they charge extra to file your nails to be an oval. I hit my nail on something, and it was very painful so she had Lynn add a little glue. They didn't charge me which I thought was so nice. So sweet and friendly and did a great job on both my pedicure & manicure. I appreciated that she was super communicative - I chose a nail color that looked sparkly when she put it on which I didn't like so she tested it out with 2 coats on one nail to make sure I liked it before she continued and did not seem annoyed at my indecision at all! The staff is very nice and friendly. Julie did my gel pedicure and she was amazing. I did the spa and stone treatment and it was worth it. The massage she did was great. I got color changing polish on my nails and toes, they have a regular option and gel option. They handled special distancing well, and I saw the floater worker cleaning in between people. It's best to call ahead and make and appointment, even just day of, so you don't need to wait. I called and they gave me a time within 2 hours and I'm Thankful I didn't just drop in and have to wait. If I could give it zero stars I would, first the crazy steps I went through for covid 19 were a little much especially when 3 out of their 6 staff members weren't even wearing the mask they forced me wear. But let's talk about quality .... I'm 6 hrs in on having my nails done and the gel that isn't "supposed" to come off is all starting to peel... I made a huge mistake not going to my regular place that I will now have to go to tomorrow to get them repainted! I purposely waited until I had been coming here on a regular basis before writing my review. The owners of Solar Nails Spa are the same owners for LeFi Nails Spa in Pineville across from Carolina Place Mall. I was a very long time customer there up until a few years ago until I felt the quality and service went downhill and I found other places to go. When I walked in I was surprised to see familiar faces and I was greeted and hugged as if I was a long lost family member. I've been coming here ever since and everyone is incredibly nice and social. The decor and furnishings are very nice and they always have a more then adequate selection of polishes, gel colors, and gel powders. I always get a gel manicure and pedicure and feel meticulously cared for. Jennifer is my go to person for pedicures but everyone is great. They offer water, sodas, and wine for refreshments and there are tv's and music playing for your enjoyment. It's also conveniently located next door to Starbucks, eateries, and a shopping center right off 77. When I come here I'm remembered when I return and that says a lot about service to me. The owners also just opened another location so clearly business is good. I highly recommend this place! read more

Really enjoyed my time here. Came in Monday afternoon at around 1pm and was one of two clients there. I was taken immediately and went to choose my color- they have a wall of OPI colors (no Essie) and also a top shelf of OPI SHINE which is a $3 up charge (I picked that one and was alerted about the charge) When I hesitated about paying $3 more just bc it's a shine polish, Thuy, my pedicurist, went to find a similar color in the normal OPI selection. I had the $35 deluxe pedi. My calluses were taken care of and I was given a choice of parafin wax or seaweed treatment. She took her time and really gave me a lot of attention. We didn't talk much and I got to read my book, which is the relaxing time I wanted! Really loved the service and will be back! read more

The service was nice but wasn't happy with my nails. I got the dipping powder. I loved the color but not the fact that this was the second time my nail polish are chipped after she filed it. I called on Thursday afternoon to ask if they were open on Sundays, as I thought I had seen a sign on their door in the past. A man answered the phone, he said yes, they were open on Sundays. I asked what their hours were, then the phone hung up. I called back, he answered, and I said, "I think you accidentally hung up on me; I was asking which hours you were open on Sundays".
