Would not recommend. Decided to try something close to home but very disappointed. It started that day with the nail tech being rough and rushing. She broke the corner of my natural nail and then super glued it back on. I should have know then that it wasn't going to be great. I get dip on my natural nails nothing crazy. When she finished my nails were chunky and visible weren't the best quality. 8 days later and the dip is coming off. Save yourself the heart and hard earned money.

Have been going to this place for many years and it is unfortunate they seem to hire worse helpers and continue to spike up the prices. This is ridiculous. They welcome you as a walk in when it is crazy busy, and instead of letting you know the wait time, they seat you with your toes soaking in water for 30 min and water all cold. Package deals have gone up and they absolutely don't do a good job anymore. $15 to remove gel, $15 to apply gel.

Been coming here for a few years because it's pretty affordable and the staff is friendly. It's also close to where we live so that makes it a bonus. Decided to get gel nails and they were very accommodating with any questions or requests that I had. They also made sure that I liked it every step of the way, and I appreciate that they would not have let me walk out of the salon if I was unhappy. Definitely recommend stopping by.

I've been coming here on and off for years and more often in the recent months. As usual, I experienced an excellent service today. I've been getting gel pedicures which I love because they last for as long as you want-- basically until your nail grows out too much. I love all of the colors they offer here, as I often have a hard time finding nice blue and green colors at other salons, but Solar has a good selection. Every nail technician I have had here has been extremely kind and detailed. Lastly, the atmosphere is very relaxing -- always clean and a great music playlist. The massage chairs are also always in working order, which is the most important part of any proper pedicure service. Thanks Solar Nails for pampering me so well!

Honestly I feel like it's going to depend on what your looking for and your standards, the pedicure experience was good but paint application wasn't for me it looked chunky and was not applied evenly. As far as my nails go I wanted to soak off and get a new set. No issues with wanting to have them removed that went well. The tech suggested dip as opposed to acrylic which wasn't an issue for me I've had both numerous times. Her application wasn't too bad but she didn't build much of an apex so they are pretty flat which = breakage. It's a week later and three are already cracked and lifting considering I paid 120 I would have expected them to last at least two weeks. I called to ask if there's any warranty was told 3 days and I could just come in they would look, didn't really feel great about the answer because If I'm paying anything (other than a tip) to get them fixed I'd rather go else where and pay for them to be done right. They were nice enough it's just not the place for me.

Bedazzles, French tips & Miss. Kathy = Nail Art!!! I've been playing with my nails lately & Kathy has been adding bedazzles to my French tips.... they're so fun! She also paints on the white polish... so they don't end up turning that yellow color, tear. I love that whatever design I bring in Kathy will attempt, and execute period ladiiieesssss. Honestly everyone at Solar Nails is truly wonderful. Thank you! :)

Polish completely gone for my pinky toe

I have here two times. Both times I have been unhappy with the quality of work. Both times I received a gel pedicure. The first time the polish was put on too thick and it was bumpy/had ripples. This most recent time I went in because I recurved a promotion text for my birthday. Turns out it wasn't anymore of a discount than the holiday promotion they had going on. What I'm actually reviewing on is their quality of work and costumer service. The day after I had my pedicure. The polish completely cane off one toe, I went in right away and I didn't even get a sorry. The only response I got wad "choose your color". They did fix the mail but 4 days later the same thing happened on another toe, I refuse to go back in at this point and desk with their crappy service again, Upon further research, the reason my polish is coming off in one big piece is because the tech didn't prepare my nail properly and didn't remove all the lotion and oil. Once the holidays are over, I plan on getting a color change somewhere else.

Acrylic set by Kathy. She's the best. I always get compliments on my nails when out and about.

Every time I come to Solar nails I ask for Kathy. She always is quick and has the best results. These are my natural nail with acrylic on top. I always get complements on my nails everywhere I go.

I was charged 70 dlls for this set!! The gel started to chip off as soon as I left the nail salon, the white nail polish under was still wet, she left gel all over my fingers and white nail polish as well I honestly do not recommend coming to this salon

I never asked for this shape and on top of that she cut me! Proof in the picture

The worst service! Do not go to this place, they will blame you for their bad job! I do not recommend this place! I did not ask for this weird shape and she cut me!

My go to place when I need my nails did in a pinch and I'm close to my office.. Conveniently located off the 15, Aero Dr. exit. Don't expect anything too fancy but everyone is friendly, quick and efficient!

It was my first time getting my nails done in SD! I did not regret my decision to come here. I got a gel mani/pedi! They have so many colors you will be sure to find a color you like. They also had a good selection of the regular polish as well. Staff all wore masks and customers can choose whether they do or not. Everything appeared very clean and organized. They were well staffed and pretty busy. They do accept walk ins and appointments alike. They don't have a toddler/childs chair for pedicures in case you wanted to bring your kid for a pedicure. They have a menu or the services they provide so you know exactly the cost of everything. I absolute loved my pink gel mani and my gel pedi. It has already been several days and my nails still look great with no issues! The leg/foot and hand/arm massage was so comforting and my add on heated wax for my feet was just what my feet needed! I can't wait to come back! Oh, they only accept cash at this time and they do have an ATM machine inside of the spa so plan accordingly if you don't want to pay the ATM fee.

Ask the Community - Solar Nails & Spa

Does anyone know when they will reopen? With some of the restrictions being lifted on Friday would they be a business to reopen?

I believe towards the end of May if not early June ... seeing that the Governor said that barbers, nail solans etc are the final ententes to open. At this time, I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer.

How much are there full sets?

I would call and ask only because prices might vary. A gel mani was $28 then told for dip it was $35 so I'd assume that a full set is between $28 to $35. Too bad they only post the regular spa pedi and not ALL prices for the services offered.

This time I got a Gel-X set with the shade Bubble Bath, and my nail tech was Jesse. He was great throughout the entire appointment, checking in during the process to make sure I liked the shape and length before moving forward, which I really appreciated. A year ago I mentioned in my review that the fills didn't work out well for me, so I stopped doing fills altogether and now just remove the Gel-X and get a fresh set each time. Since switching to that routine, I've loved the results. The quality has been consistently great and the whole service usually takes about an hour, which feels efficient without feeling rushed. My nails always come out clean, polished, and exactly what I asked for. Overall, it's been a really positive experience and I'll definitely keep coming back.

Back in September, I came in to get my wedding nails done. Susan did my toes, but another nail tech worked on my hands. I don't remember her name, but I explained that I have shorter, wider fingers, and I immediately noticed she was applying very small nail tips. I mentioned my concern before she continued, but she dismissed it and assured me she knew what she was doing. Once the acrylic was applied, it became obvious to everyone that the tips were far too small. I was then sent to another tech to try to fix them. They did the best they could, but because the original tips were too small to begin with, the final result still wasn't what I had hoped for, especially for my wedding nails. After that experience, I honestly started questioning whether the 30-minute drive was still worth it. A few months later, my friend and I decided to come back for birthday pedicures because I really did want to see Susan again. However, once my pedicure was finished and Susan stepped away, my friend's nail tech, Rena, told me to put my socks and shoes on and get up to leave, even though my friend's nails were still being done. It made both of us feel rushed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. I've always loved coming here, which is why these experiences have been so disappointing. Sadly, it's made me reconsider whether I'll be returning in the future.

I went in for a classic pedicure and asked for her to file my nails and change the color, that's it! The technician was nice so I feel bad leaving this review, but the way she removed the gel from my toes was awful! She filed it down, put acetone and let it sit for a bit. Then she proceeded to peel off the old gel and tore the corner of my nail OFF. She then proceeded to say I had thin nails! I've been getting gel pedicures for a while now and NEVER has anyone tore a piece of my nail OFF! As a technician, even if my nail was thin she could of used a machine to remove the gel instead of tearing it off the way she did. I was so upset! She tried to tell me she would add a piece, which I declined so I just told her to cut what she could without leaving my nail too short. I will never return here. Maybe some folks like this method of removal but I did not and will not be returning for a pedicure. I will add the chairs were comfortable and I also got a gel manicure which he added so many layers too! There was one lady too that came by and was just talking to the technician who did my nails and the vibe just felt uncomfortable! I will never return!
