I have seen Solar Nails & Spa a few times before but never got the chance to try them out until today. My service was not only quick it was efficient. Very simple request & both my nail techs knocked it out of the park in under 1.5. I got a full set nails with gel & a spa pedicure with gel. My total was $96 which is not bad at all! The spa pedicure massage lasted for a good 30 minutes while I got my nails done & it was so fabulous! Hardly any talking, no tv, just pure relaxation. The shaping on my nails is hands down the BEST I've received after trying out a few different places. None of my skin is nicked, bleeding, missing or sore. No bumps in the acrylic or gel, decent pricing for todays world, & a full blown pamper session. They have 100% earned themselves a monthly customer! Parking lot is large; and they're located next to AT&T at the end of the parking lot (kind of easy to miss if you're not looking, but no worries I included a pic of the map ). Found out while I'm here they also do lashes starting at $90! The full spa experience in one stop. (Also did want to add: there are no new tools for each customer nor was there any type of sanitizing between clients regarding nail tools. Would not recommend. Decided to try something close to home but very disappointed. It started that day with the nail tech being rough and rushing. She broke the corner of my natural nail and then super glued it back on. I should have know then that it wasn't going to be great. I get dip on my natural nails nothing crazy. I've been coming here on and off for years and more often in the recent months. As usual, I experienced an excellent service today. I've been getting gel pedicures which I love because they last for as long as you want-- basically until your nail grows out too much. I love all of the colors they offer here, as I often have a hard time finding nice blue and green colors at other salons, but Solar has a good selection. Every nail technician I have had here has been extremely kind and detailed. Lastly, the atmosphere is very relaxing -- always clean and a great music playlist. Honestly I feel like it's going to depend on what your looking for and your standards, the pedicure experience was good but paint application wasn't for me it looked chunky and was not applied evenly. As far as my nails go I wanted to soak off and get a new set. No issues with wanting to have them removed that went well. The tech suggested dip as opposed to acrylic which wasn't an issue for me I've had both numerous times. Her application wasn't too bad but she didn't build much of an apex so they are pretty flat which = breakage. It's a week later and three are already cracked and lifting considering I paid 120 I would have expected them to last at least two weeks. I called to ask if there's any warranty was told 3 days and I could just come in they would look, didn't really feel great about the answer because If I'm paying anything (other than a tip) to get them fixed I'd rather go else where and pay for them to be done right. They kept pushing a manicure on me and kept sneaking in little treatments such as cleaning, oiling and a massage and even tried to remove my cuticles but I had to stop that. At the end, this cost me $35 dollars. $35 dollars. To remove my gel-x nails. I'd rather not get ripped off again so I'm not going back. I have here two times. Both times I have been unhappy with the quality of work. Both times I received a gel pedicure. The first time the polish was put on too thick and it was bumpy/had ripples. This most recent time I went in because I recurved a promotion text for my birthday. Turns out it wasn't anymore of a discount than the holiday promotion they had going on. What I'm actually reviewing on is their quality of work and costumer service. The day after I had my pedicure. The polish completely cane off one toe, I went in right away and I didn't even get a sorry. The only response I got wad "choose your color". They did fix the mail but 4 days later the same thing happened on another toe, I refuse to go back in at this point and desk with their crappy service again, Upon further research, the reason my polish is coming off in one big piece is because the tech didn't prepare my nail properly and didn't remove all the lotion and oil. It was my first time getting my nails done in SD! I did not regret my decision to come here. I got a gel mani/pedi! They have so many colors you will be sure to find a color you like. They also had a good selection of the regular polish as well. Staff all wore masks and customers can choose whether they do or not. Everything appeared very clean and organized. They were well staffed and pretty busy. They do accept walk ins and appointments alike. They don't have a toddler/childs chair for pedicures in case you wanted to bring your kid for a pedicure. They have a menu or the services they provide so you know exactly the cost of everything. I absolute loved my pink gel mani and my gel pedi. It has already been several days and my nails still look great with no issues! The leg/foot and hand/arm massage was so comforting and my add on heated wax for my feet was just what my feet needed! I've had good and bad experiences here but I had to draw the line when I came in for some birthday pampering (nails, toes, lashes and brows) spent a lot of time and money here happily. It was getting late so I said I can come back the next day to continue. I didn't want anything rushed. Nina absolutely insisted that it was no problem and pushed me to get it all done in 1 night. GIRL, my eyebrows were a hot mess. I was very happy with my mani, pedi and lashes but she took way too much off the center and went way too low causing the skin of my eyelids to bleed. Being that I was happy with Solar Nails before, I decided to give them another shot, but was adamant about getting a refund for my destroyed eyebrows. (Nevermind all my bday pics were ruined) my eyelids were healed when I came back but the middle patch still had to be filled in by make up. I showed the manager the pic attached and she told me it was my fault because my eyelids were too sensitive. And she could only offer 10% off my next eyebrow wax. I told her I wasn't comfortable getting my eyebrows waxed there again, so I'd accept a discount on a different service. And I informed her that I've had my Eyebrows waxed multiple other times at other salons and this has never happened to me, so it's not me. It was a mistake on the waxer and I wanted to be reimbursed. The manager then proceeded to tell me that it just happens sometimes and 10% is all she can do for my next eyebrow wax. I didn't go "Karen" on her (which now looking back I wish I did) but I did tell her unfortunately I will not be returning and telling my friends and neighbors about this horrible experience. read more

Horrible experience. Have been going there for just gel color for over a year and never had any issues, usually done within 30 minutes and gel lasts for at least a week. This time actually made an appointment because me and my friend wanted to go together, but instead they just put acetone filled foil on my nails and left me there until her gel manicure was done, FOR ALMOST AN HOUR, I thought my fingers would fall off. Stopped on my way to the airport for a pedicure. They had me sit down and I waited 40 min till someone came to do my pedicure. I selected the $39 European pedicure. It was not good. I still have calluses so that part was not good. The lotion she used to massage legs was watered down. She barely did anything to my toes then painted them horribly didn't even fill my whole nailbed with polish. Polish was clumpy and old. They look so terrible I wasted $50 cause I still tipped her. I will have to go somewhere else tomorrow to have them redone because it's embarrassing. Find another nail place! read more

I used to come here all the time only getting gel and regular paint until I decided to no longer come because of the manager(I will say why later in this review.) Most nail salons will have basic quality of work so I'm not too picky with the workmanship as long as it looks decent and I am moderately understood. Lee is my favorite to have with gel or regular paint, she really takes time on your nails and makes sure her work lasts. I've had someone else on my toes that I liked besides Lee but forgot their name so I let whoever is available to do my toes while Lee would do my fingers. I stopped coming because one day I decided to do dip and it did not go well. Lee doesn't do dip but I really do value her work so I had her on my toes. The manager herself did my dip nails but a day or two tops my dip started chipping. I went in very soon after to show her half or more of all of my dip nails were already chipping. She asked if I wanted to redo them and I said yes. She has someone else do them and charges me almost full price with a small discount which is absurd! I let her know and she said it wouldn't have costed if I just got the chips fixed (although she's the one that offered to redo them). But even then why would I want to just get chips fixed when it's obvious all of my other nails were going to start chipping soon after and very possibly the fixed chipped nails? Clearly I needed a complete redo because the nails weren't going to stay and was no fault of mine. I feel like how she handled the situation was poor and very cheap. I have not come back since and am happier at a small salon in a little town center on sand rock close to the car wash on the opposite side of cvs. read more

So I typically only come here to do eyebrow wax but I decided I should give them a try on getting a pedicure. Biggest MISTAKE ever. I'm not too sure his name but I was a man and he hurt me so much during the process and now my both my big toes are extremely red and gush out blood still 2 days later. For paying $40 this was not worth it. It was worth $15-20 at most. I did go early in the morning so it's not like I went in during a busy time. Only positive was my eyebrow. It was good per usual. I have been coming here for years Peter and Kathy are wonderful and all the ladies are however this new girl Chloe is so bossy, she seems so tense, kind of ocd and doesn't seem to like her job. She grabs my ankles, pushes my feet around, yanks my feet around pushes my feet in water and pushes my feet down in the water. She talks very rude and bossy. She makes the entire experience awful! I come to relax and enjoy my "me" not to be bossed around and treated poorly. That's not what I am paying for. I still give 4 stars because I love this place but she's awful! She gives a subpar pedicure to boot my curtcles are terrible and I wasted time and money on this service today! I am doing everything to not yell at her and ask for someone else! I've been coming here for over a year. Employees come and go. Well they have a couple new people and let me just say everyone I've had has had to have someone fix my nails after. I try and give them the benefit of the doubt since they are new. I've had the same older lady do my nails 3 times now (fingers twice and toes once). We pay good money for nails to be beautiful and this is why I'm frustrated. I left with one hand not matching the other. I asked her to fix them and she did make some better but she didn't fix them all. If anything she filed so much that it made my nails crooked. I shouldn't have to come home and file areas that are messed up. She's a sweet lady doesn't say much but she for sure needs to take a break from doing nails. I went in already upset that my 2 week old nails were snapping off (which has never happened). The set I had on before these last me over a month without a nail falling off. I went in for an acrylic fill last week and was very upset with my final results. I had asked the woman helping me for a simple spiderweb design and was severely disappointed with her carelessness. When you're paying upwards of $50, you'd expect someone who claims an 11 year career in nail art and design to do a decent job. The final product (included below) looked like a child had drawn on my nails with sharpie. In addition, business was rather slow when I walked in, and for the majority of my appointment I was surrounded by other nail technicians all speaking as if I weren't there, except when they would insult my appearance ("are you SURE you don't want your eyebrows done?" "Are you SURE you don't want your toes done? We'll make them pretty"). I appreciate the art of salesmanship but not at the expense of your customer. The store, while seeming clean at first, was covered in ants. I had to flick them off of myself constantly, as well as my water bottle and the gel machine, but the woman working with me paid no mind, as if it was the most normal thing. I will not be returning and urge others to look elsewhere for their nail needs. Save yourself the heartache, go somewhere else. read more
