We used an animal hospital religiously in Parker county and I should've just gone back to them. Our cat ended up with a laceration and was treated by this clinic on Tuesday, upon taking the dressing off last night noted none of the sutures had held up. Upon taking our cat in today to be rechecked, the vetinarian was condescending and simply came up with excuses trying to put the blame on us. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Unfortunately, my experience didn't reflect those positive reviews. First, while I completely understand that veterinary clinics can sometimes be short-staffed or encounter unexpected emergencies, there seems to be a significant issue with their scheduling. Appointment times were simply not respected, resulting in excessive wait times that felt more like intentional overbooking rather than unavoidable delays. Secondly, my very first visit raised immediate concerns about the clinic's cleanliness. While sitting in the exam room, I noticed the ceiling vents had a thick layer of dust, almost an inch thick, resembling a clogged dryer vent. For a medical facility where my pet is being examined and treated, maintaining a highly sanitary environment is incredibly important to me. The deciding factor happened during our second visit on June 9th at 3:00 PM. We were scheduled for a urine sample via cystocentesis for my dog, (a procedure she's successfully had done twice before at an ER without issue). We arrived early at 2:50 PM to be considerate, but we weren't seen until 3:30 PM. They took my dog to the back, and we ultimately didn't leave the facility until 4:40 PM. The most frustrating part was that after all that waiting, they claimed my dog didn't have enough urine in her bladder to perform the test and that she did not even pee as they tried taking her **OUTSIDE** without even informing me that the cysto was not successful (RED FLAG) I found this incredibly hard to understand, as I meticulously followed the doctor's strict instructions from our first visit: I ensured she drank plenty of water and absolutely did not let her urinate for at least 3 hours prior to the appointment. While I initially agreed with the tech to reschedule for the first slot of the day on Friday, June 12th at 9:00 AM to avoid another long wait, I realized later that evening that I simply don't have confidence in this clinic moving forward. With all that being said, I will be taking my business elsewhere to find a vet who respects appointment times, maintains a much cleaner facility, and can provide the efficient, genuine care my dog deserves without leaving us waiting for nearly two hours to not even complete a scheduled test.

I could…read morenot figure out a reason until I realized that I stopped his antibiotics, at the suggestion of Dr. Collins, even though he hadn't even finished the full course. The last time he had a UTI, he needed two rounds of antibiotics. My dog's pain is now equal to or greater than when I originally took him in and even with antibiotics and pain meds, I cannot seem to get him stabilized. I researched letting your pet go yesterday if that tells you where we are. I would NOT take my pet to see this vet. Maybe they have better vets within the office, but that's a risk you can take for yourself. I can't turn back time. And I very well might lose my dog. I would not recommend this clinic! My first visit went well. Unfortunately, after meeting with Dr Collins, my entire opinion changed. I took my 11 yr old labradoodle in for reoccurring UTIs (I have a urinalysis for each and every one confirming UTIs). With the agreement of his regular vet who I trust implicitly, I scheduled for an ultrasound with this clinic. The ultrasound was done with no remarkable findings. The tech suggested putting my dog on nightly antibiotics to hopefully stop the UTIs. Dr Collins talked to me over the phone and seemed helpful. He stated he'd like to see my dog to get a baseline since he'd only seen him during the ultrasound when he was supposedly sedated (something I seriously question now). I scheduled an appointment even though I'd already spent an excessive amount of money on this for no answers. When I met with him, he tried to manipulate me into doing what he wanted which as far as I can tell now was to spend more money. I specifically stated NUMEROUS times that I would not put my dog through surgery. According to Dr Collins, my dog's care has been mismanaged. He hasn't had UTIs. He has arthritic pain. And to be treated with the "best care" (see that play on emotions?), I should take him to an internal specialist who would likely want a bladder biopsy. (Aka surgery...exploratory surgery) His plan was to put my dog on gabapentin for the rest of his life to deal with this supposedly excessive pain that I'm not aware of! There was no plan for the UTIs. You know? What I went in for in the first place!!! Now comes the part that makes me really angry as "Dr Know it all" never said any of this. If my dog does in fact have bladder cancer, there's nothing that can be done. In fact, if it's in the middle of his bladder, he'd have reoccurring UTIs which would be treated with antibiotics. Yeah. So Dr Collins would have put my dog through needless, painful surgery to MAYBE find bladder cancer so we could then treat it with what the ultrasound tech said all along. Hmm. Forgot to mention that huh? Real convenient. Clearly my dog's care was not your utmost concern. I question your ethics.

We were able to get annual heartworm shots ($72 each), which is definitely less expensive than the monthly chews. With those, their special tests, annual checkups, plus medicines, it was $250 each pup. Total was $502. Dr King was patient and knowledgeable. She explained options for each medical issue, so we're going down a different path. It looks like the staff has changed for the better. Our appointments were very easy to schedule. Medical records were updated. We even received a few smiles. We didn't have to wait but a few minutes. This was a 4-star visit.

She diagnosed and a treatment plan was to give him a series of Adequan shots. I paid for 8 injections up front and then during this series of injections, there was a billing discrepancy. All over a the number of shots my dog received. I'm talking about one $67.35 shot! On my second to last time there, I went through it with the nice young ladies up front and thought we had it straitened out. Then, my next visit, the discrepancy came up again. They gave me a print out summary and it was all jacked up. Showing 2 shots given at one appointment, not showing another appointment and on and on. Then, the "Manger" (Hunter), came out with attitude (as he had in previous visits too). I feel like he went out of his way to make sure it was my mistake, not his (or the clinics), and have me corrected. I was upset and I asked them to refund me for the number of shots they believe I was owed. They refunded me for one less shot than I believe I had paid for. Then, they had the nerve to send me a certified letter saying they didn't want to do business with me!! LOL! As a customer/ patient, I think his persistence in saying I'm wrong and he's right about the billing is ridiculous! I'm the customer (it's not about the stupid $67). What's a shame is, it's not about the clinic and the majority of the staff, it's about one over zealous employee.

I just paid $527.64 for a 10 minute wellness exam and shots (Rabbies, Bordatella, DAPP/Lepto) for my two pups. If you're using these reviews to make your care decisions for shots, please just go to Texas Animal Coalition instead. They charge around $28 for a full round of shots per pet which makes it possible for many of us to afford to taking care of our furry family member.

Our experience with Ponder Vet Hospital tragically ended in the loss of our cat due to what we…read morebelieve was a failure to properly diagnose a life‑threatening condition. This began in October 2025, when we brought our cat in for urinary issues. We were told by Ginnie Crawford he was experiencing emotional stress and had a UTI. The symptoms temporarily improved but later returned. Because of the cost of this clinic, my daughter sought care elsewhere, where a different veterinarian again diagnosed a UTI and prescribed a different antibiotic. On Friday, when our cat once again was unable to urinate, we returned to Ponder Vet Hospital. The same veterinarian again (Ginnie Crawford) diagnosed a UTI and emotional issues. Ginnie stated that Dr. Norwood also reviewed her diagnosis and agreed with it. By Saturday, our cat still could not urinate. Since Ponder was closed, we followed their voicemail instructions and took him to Denton County ER. There, he was immediately diagnosed with a blocked urethra and a bladder full of sediment. At that point, his condition was so advanced that we were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him due to his inability to recover and have a reasonable quality of life. What made this experience worse was the response from Ponder Vet Hospital afterward. When I returned on Monday to explain what happened, I was told they were sorry our cat died but that everything had been handled correctly. There was no acknowledgment that the blockage had been missed and no meaningful empathy shown by the staff. We spent over $600 at Ponder Vet Hospital, only to then spend another $1,200 at the emergency clinic and ultimately lose our cat. I requested a refund for the vaccines administered on Friday as a gesture of goodwill, given the outcome, but the clinic refused to work with us in any way. This clinic showed a troubling lack of compassion, accountability, and thorough diagnostic care (especially the mean old blond lady behind the counter). Based on our experience, we will be taking our 3 other dogs elsewhere and strongly encourage others to carefully consider alternative veterinary providers--especially for serious or recurring health concerns.

She was drinking water and not interested in eating her kibble. I knew she needed a remedy quickly. I was grateful for an 1:30pm appointment with Ponder Veterinary Hospital. We arrived 5 minutes early and they took us into a consult room immediately. So I had faith that we were in good hands. Dr. Ferry was very kind and gentle with Sloane. He took 3 blood samples from her swollen neck. And excused himself from the examination room. Said he had to look at the slides under his microscope. Sure, no problem. It seemed like it was going to be a short wait. So I'm sitting there. With my 12 year old dog. The love of my life. Finally. 47 minutes later. He returned to the exam room. Hallelujah. And proceeded to explain that either she has experienced an explosion of cancer cells. Or maybe she was stung by an insect. I am not upset with the $185 bill. Which did include an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory. However. The amount of time that I should have been aware of. Was not communicated with me. Picture sitting with your 12 year old dog. For close to an hour? Dr. Ferry had great bedside manner. But...if you are waiting for a swift diagnosis. I would suggest that you go somewhere else. It was a beautiful veterinary hospital. Opened in 1975. I finally said to the Veterinary Assistant. I can't recall her name. She was very nice. However. Came in to the lobby with the two meds. Was giving me directions for a different medication. I had to correct her. I also said she to her that I am not a Bitch. But the way I was treated today was very cruel. Not only towards me. But to my 12 year old dog. I told her that we were really treated shitty. She rolled her eyes. Did not even attempt to apologize. I really hope that she and Dr. Ferry can get their act together.
