We just moved to the area, we had used bonds ranch in the past when we lived here 4 years ago and they referred us to this clinic. We used an animal hospital religiously in Parker county and I should've just gone back to them. Our cat ended up with a laceration and was treated by this clinic on Tuesday, upon taking the dressing off last night noted none of the sutures had held up. Upon taking our cat in today to be rechecked, the vetinarian was condescending and simply came up with excuses trying to put the blame on us. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I will never understand how this establishment has 5 stars on Google…read more I originally found Avondale Animal Clinic through a search, and given the great reviews and proximity to my home, I was genuinely hoping this would be our new primary vet. Unfortunately, my experience didn't reflect those positive reviews. First, while I completely understand that veterinary clinics can sometimes be short-staffed or encounter unexpected emergencies, there seems to be a significant issue with their scheduling. Appointment times were simply not respected, resulting in excessive wait times that felt more like intentional overbooking rather than unavoidable delays. Secondly, my very first visit raised immediate concerns about the clinic's cleanliness. While sitting in the exam room, I noticed the ceiling vents had a thick layer of dust, almost an inch thick, resembling a clogged dryer vent. For a medical facility where my pet is being examined and treated, maintaining a highly sanitary environment is incredibly important to me. The deciding factor happened during our second visit on June 9th at 3:00 PM. We were scheduled for a urine sample via cystocentesis for my dog, (a procedure she's successfully had done twice before at an ER without issue). We arrived early at 2:50 PM to be considerate, but we weren't seen until 3:30 PM. They took my dog to the back, and we ultimately didn't leave the facility until 4:40 PM. The most frustrating part was that after all that waiting, they claimed my dog didn't have enough urine in her bladder to perform the test and that she did not even pee as they tried taking her **OUTSIDE** without even informing me that the cysto was not successful (RED FLAG) I found this incredibly hard to understand, as I meticulously followed the doctor's strict instructions from our first visit: I ensured she drank plenty of water and absolutely did not let her urinate for at least 3 hours prior to the appointment. While I initially agreed with the tech to reschedule for the first slot of the day on Friday, June 12th at 9:00 AM to avoid another long wait, I realized later that evening that I simply don't have confidence in this clinic moving forward. With all that being said, I will be taking my business elsewhere to find a vet who respects appointment times, maintains a much cleaner facility, and can provide the efficient, genuine care my dog deserves without leaving us waiting for nearly two hours to not even complete a scheduled test.

I began coming to this clinic last year with an aging pet that eventually had to be put to sleep…read more They were always kind and helpful. I would suggest the woman vet over the man though. My daughter received a puppy before Christmas and we were getting vaccines done there through the puppy package. Yesterday, I encountered an issue where I only had so much money available and had rescheduled an appointment from a Friday (pay day) to a Wednesday due concerns about the weather. We discussed before coming that I only wanted the two vaccines and it would be $30. Once there and telling the tech that I just wanted the two, she proceeded to take the dog back for shots. When she came back she said she gave her 3. When I went to check out, I informed them that I talked to someone in advance (actually twice) and all I could do was the $30. I informed them I would pay the rest on Friday which was less than $20. I know that isn't much but I did not have it. A woman by the name of Rachel came out from the back in full attack mode saying she couldn't take the third vaccine out of the dog therefore I HAD to pay in full. I told her that I requested just the two and it was on them but would pay the rest on Friday. She then humiliated me in front of my daughter by telling me to be a better mom and call someone for the money. She threatened to call the police on me as well. I was standing there in tears because I was in such disbelief. She was the most condescending , hateful person I have ever encountered like that. I have posted this vet's info on so many pages to bring business and I am still in shock with how I was treated. This woman , Rachel, then said "Have a blessed day" in such a hateful tone. I turned and said please do not use Christianity to make up for how you just treated me. She then replied "Honey, I am not Christian." She called me honey twice BTW to invoke some sort of superiority. I was SHOCKED that not one person working there allowed her to continue. There was a woman there with her poor sick dog that paid for my visit after hearing what happened. I did go back in and pay the $30 I could afford to that woman's account because she had already left so I do hope they credited her. As a 50 yo standing there in tears being verbally insulted, I will NEVER step foot back in there and I am SHOCKED that any vet would allow their employees to treat anyone, let alone customers like that. I will be contacting Consumer Protection for the first time in my life and filing a report.

They stated I didn't have an appointment. They finally figured it out that we DID have an appointment. Then they proceeded to argue with me that they didn't have her records. I told them that they did, the physician looked at records and xrays that I emailed last month and agreed to surgery and even gave me a quote. No one ever told me that they had it figured out and that they were sorry for the confusion and left us sitting there 20 minutes after her appointment time with us not knowing anything. We got up and walked out. Were afraid at that point to leave our pup with incompetent people. Doc may be good, we didn't ever get to see him due to all the staff up front. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Ponder Vet, and I am writing this review because…read moreI believe other dog owners deserve to know what happened to me. My dog has bladder stones and needs surgery to have them removed. During my experience with Ponder Vet, I repeatedly made it clear that I did not want my dog neutered. Neutering was not something I consented to, and it was not the procedure I was bringing my dog in for. Despite that, I felt pressured and, in my opinion, was given information in a way that seemed intended to convince me that my dog needed to be neutered. I clearly expressed that I did not want it done. Because I was uncomfortable with what I was being told, I sought a second opinion from another veterinarian. That veterinarian performed their own evaluation, including ultrasounds and X-rays, and told me that there was no medical reason that my dog needed to be neutered. That second opinion made me even more concerned about my experience with Ponder Vet. What concerned me most was being told that if Ponder Vet performed my dog's bladder stone surgery, they were going to neuter him during the surgery anyway, despite the fact that I had specifically told them I did not want that procedure performed. That was extremely upsetting to me. I understand that veterinarians are medical professionals and have the right to make recommendations about an animal's care. I am completely open to hearing a veterinarian's professional opinion. But making a recommendation is one thing. Proceeding with a procedure that the owner has specifically declined is another. I left this experience feeling that the doctor believed he could make decisions about my dog without respecting my wishes as his owner. I am his advocate. I am responsible for making decisions regarding his care, and I expect those decisions to be respected. My dog was there because he has bladder stones and needs treatment for that condition. I did not consent to neutering. I should never have to worry that I am taking my dog in for one procedure and that another procedure I explicitly refused could be performed while he is under anesthesia. The entire experience caused me to completely lose trust in Ponder Vet. I am sharing this review so other pet owners understand what happened to me and know to ask very specific questions about every procedure that will be performed on their animal and exactly what they are consenting to before surgery. Our pets depend on us to advocate for them. I believe every pet owner deserves a veterinarian who listens to them, respects their decisions, and takes informed consent seriously. I personally will not be returning to Ponder Vet, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice to other pet owners
