Do not buy a membership here. I'm stuck going here for a year because I paid upfront. Their tanning booths are always broken and they just decided to renovate without telling their customers. So now I either have to drive further for my tans to a different location or not get them even though I've already paid for them. Not to mention the other location is dirty, they can't be bothered to clean the floor between customers so the bottom of my feet turned black. And no I didn't step in the booth without sticky feet. I have never had an airbrush tan before, though my ex used to do the self tanner for me. I had a work event on Daturday that requires I tan and figured I would try Sol Sunless Tanning because their website states they do a 30 minute free airbrush for new clients. I booked my appointment Thursday and went in Friday. The both they did tan in was very dark and at the end the women asked if it looked good. It was hard to see if it was even but it looked good with the little light I had. I went to check out and it was NOT free. She said it was $54, I asked if it was because it took longer than the 30 minutes, which it definitely did not, she looked at me confused. I told her I booked the free 30 minute first time client session on the website. She played like she never heard of it. Then when I pulled my confirmation information up on my phone that clearly states it was booked as a free first time client session she said 'Oh I've road my manager about that and that the company needs to take it down because we don't do those'. I should have refused to pay and demanded that she honor the website information, but I didn't. I don't like being that person but I was so passed off. I got home and realized that the tan wasn't even consistent across my body. My stomach was a different color than my legs. I figured it may just take time to develop and waited the recommended hours before rinsing off. My legs were definitely lighter than my arms and stomach. So on top of having to pay for a service that was advertised as free I had to apply self tanner to my legs to even the job out. I have work events that I need to tan for every other month and figured of I liked it that I would make this the place I'd go and get the 3 pack for $99. I will never go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go their either. The companies website also talks about being able to blend custom colors so they can match the shade yoy are wanting. I brought in the foundation I use when my ex would help me with the self tanner to show her and she didn't get me anywhere close to that color. I thought that offering a free first time session was a great idea for businesses to get new repeat clients. Give the customer a great experience the first time and they are likely to come back. I will never go back and I have been turned off from airbrush tanning and will just need to get a friend to help me self tan my back from now on.​ read more

I booked my appointment nearly a month in advance and when I got there they said they switched systems and no longer had my reservation in the new system. However, they managed to get me in within 30 minutes of my appointment. Alice was very kind and explained everything well. They need better sticky shoes to protect the bottom of your feet. Mine easily slipped off and now my feet are super dark. I also thought first visits were cheaper than my bill ended up being. My tan looks good and overall, I'd go back if in a pinch. Review for West Village & Mockingbird locations, airbrush tanning only. HALEY & MAI are my FAVs! Mai works at Mockingbird, and Haley works at both, but you can find Haley at West Village also if that location is more your jam. LOVE THIS PLACE! I found them on Groupon in April of 2019 and have been hooked since. If "checking in" was still a thing (is it still a thing?) I'd probably be Major... As a fair skinned San Francisco transplant, I like my tans to look NATURAL AND EVEN. I have an affinity for detail, and my spray tans are no different. I'm also accustomed to ORGANIC spray tans in SF, and was SO HAPPY Sol Sunless also offers this. I use VENETIAN MEDIUM with the single or double gun (depending on how I feel that day), but if you are just going once in awhile, I recommend the DOUBLE GUN all the way- its a thinner spray of the gun and makes for better saturation, and the tan lasts longer (WORTH THE UP-CHARGE LADIES). I recommend you exfoliate & shave before you go, rinse off the next day only (no soap if you can avoid/use only on the girly parts), and use Aveeno sensitive skin body wash during your week of being tan (the formula of soap in Aveeno does not strip your tan like regular body washes do). And ask the gals about the products in front for sale- I love the NORVELL TRAVEL SIZE to help while I'm away if the ocean/pool takes a bit of my tan. I used to get sprayed for special occasions only (in SF you don't have much reason to show skin) but now that I live in warmer climate- and because its such an enjoyable experience at Sol Sunless- I pretty much GO WEEKLY. Their treatment rooms are always clean, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, fun high-energy music is always playing, everyone does there best to accommodate the time you want, and are super efficient. Booking is easy online and if you need to change your appointment last minute- as long as you don't call right before your scheduled time (rude!) they're super easygoing about moving your slot if time allows. Also if they miss a spot on your bod, or there's something you're not happy with once you rinse off, call them and tell them and they'll touch you up for FREE! How great is that customer service?? CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. I swear going here makes your life better. read more

I have attempted to cancel my account at this poor excuse for a tanning salon multiple times. Via email, in person, over the phone- I have tried it all. Each time the employee states that they can't cancel accounts and don't know what to do. My card continues to be charged even though I have tried to cancel my account since last year. Not only is this an issue- so is the company's inability to answer the phone, provide good service, or communicate. When I did utilize my monthly membership with this company, I would schedule appointments in advance and no one would be at the location, doors would be locked, and no one would answer the phone. Only to have to call multiple times to find out they decided to close different locations for the day and not alert consumers, especially ones who had appointments that day. On one instance, the employee opening the store for my appointment could not figure out how to unlock/open the front door so I could not utilize my appointment I had made. It was a recurring theme that the staff complained to customers about their owners/management for their inability to communicate, how they double booked them often, and the hours they were being made to work. The staff is often flustered, rude, and quick to complain about their working conditions and say that they are unable to help you resolve any issues with your account or customer service, blaming their owners/management. I would advise choosing another tanning salon if you want to enjoy your services and experience. read more

I have purchased a handful of airbrush packages over the years, and as much as I love the quality of spray tan I get at Sol Sunless, the customer service/staff at this specific location is bottom of the barrel. I scheduled a same day appointment, and attempted to use one of my airbrush tans I've prepaid for. I arrived to my appointment 20 minutes early, only to find that the doors are locked, there's no staff in sight, and no one is answering the phone. I get ahold of someone at what I'm assuming is a main office, who informs me "someone should be there", and perhaps the employee who should be there is "maybe in the bathroom". I let her know that I've been standing outside for 20 minutes, so that seems unlikely. She tells me she's texting the employee who's supposed to be working, and then hangs up. No call back from her, nor from any employee at the store. Sol sunless also charges for "no shows", so not only will I not be getting the spray tan I've already paid for, but I'll also be getting charged $10. This is the second time I have shown up for an appointment with not a staff member in sight. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Worst spray tan experience of my life! I was excited to try the new Sol Sunless tanning location at West Village because I like going to the other Dallas location on Mockingbird. The experience was just a series of bad events that kept getting worse. First of all, I couldn't find the place. When you put the address in your GPS it takes you to a hotel, but how was I supposed to know the tanning place was hidden between two buildings with no sign or indicator that it was there? I walked around for about 15 minutes in 100 degree July Dallas weather trying to find the place, and tried to call them but they wouldn't pick up their phone. I know they just opened, but if you are going to run a business and people are paying for your services, you need to have these things in place. A nice valet guy helped me find it and I thought I would have a great experience from there, but it was quite the opposite. When I arrived no one was at the front desk, and when the girl finally showed up, she told me the Norvell machine was broken, and that is what I had made an appointment to have done. So I agreed to use the Versa machine instead. That was also not working at first either but I was patient as the girl finally got it to work. I finally thought I could get my tan but there was no hair cap in the entire place. So the girl at the front desk gave me a trash bag to wrap around my head so I wouldn't get spray tan in my hair. For any tanning place that is open for business, it shouldn't be a question as to whether or not they have hair caps. Of course the trash bag kept falling off and getting untied, so I had to hold it in place so my tan turned out uneven. As I was getting my tan this loud alarm started going off but there was nothing I could do, I was in the spray tan booth. I ended up having to go somewhere else to get a spray tan for the event I was going to. Also, a legitimate business needs to have toilet paper in the restrooms. There was also no cell service or Wi-Fi in the building. The front desk girl did the best she could with the situation but I gave her my phone number and asked her to have her manager call me. I never heard from them. I gave the manager over a month to call me to make the situation right, and since they won't answer their phones I decided to write a review to get my message across. Clearly I was disgusted with the lack of customer service at Sol Sunless West Village. Do not go to this location, go to Sol Sunless Mockingbird! read more

Went in for my first ever spray tan and I loved it! Great workers. Very nice, friendly and informative!

I'm always really happy with the results at this place, and booking is super easy! The girls have always been very friendly & helpful too. I have neutral-fair skin and the lightest shade is the perfect amount of color for me. Their prices for airbrush aren't cheap, but they run specials a few times a year (ie 4 for $99) and I always grab those when I see them. My biggest complaint is how hard their West Village location is to find! (And they don't answer their phone.) Best is to put Aura Nail Bar in your GPS, then turn into the parking garage whenever you see it. Sol is against the left wall inside of the garage, look for the pink neon sign. Would also be nice if they provided hair ties & makeup removing wipes. read more
