I had a total of seven yes seven wisdom teeth removed at once. Many years ago. All in one procedure. My gums were cut bc 3 teeth had no roots. I'm writing this review prior to my previous one years ago because as I read through the negative reviews I wonder what liberal entitled individuals are writing these reviews. Remember your in an oral surgeons office it's not suppose to be pleasant moron. This new generation is all a bunch of cry babies and I think Dr. Haber is amazing and for the woman who screamed liked a baby for getting her tooth pulled once he gives you that shot and I know how much it hurts but suck it up buttercup you are numb in a minute. The doctor is very brusque and rude. At first I thought it was old school charm but it turns out it's just good old fashioned assholery. I had a minor question about my wisdom tooth extraction recovery and they couldn't even hear out my question on the phone, just insisted I come in (within the dr's very limited schedule of course) rather than giving me the respect and care to hear what I even have to say or try to support me. I have had 2 extractions and an implant with Dr.Haber and they have both been painless. I like that he explains what he is doing as he does it. I am very fearful of dental procedures so I really appreciate his skilled and painless procedures. Yes, he is kinda brusque in a New Yorker kind of way but I have no problem so far with his manner. His staff is very sweet . The woman who has been there a while explains the after care in detail and she does it in a NY fast kind of way. She is very nice, too. First - to the Asian woman complaining about getting a Panda Bear - YOU'RE AN IDIOT! - Dr. Haber offered me a bottle of Gold's Horse Radish because I'm Jewish - I took the Panda Bear because it was SOMETHING SOFT TO HUG - something given to all his patients. Dr. Haber is an oral surgeon at the top of the class. I've had multiple surgeries done with him including a sinus lift, many extractions, bone grafting, followed by implants. Every one of these procedures was done, without exception, without a hitch. Dr. Haber and his entire staff are friendly, warm, and try very hard to make the experience in the chair as comfortable as possible. Dr. Haber ALWAYS follows up procedures with a personal phone call in the evening to check up, and he's available by cell phone in the event you need him. To those considering Dr. Haber, I would suggest that any review by anyone who cannot deal with dentistry unless they are OUT COLD - should be taken with a grain of salt. I went here to have my wisdom teeth extracted and had so bad an experience that we had to stop half way through the surgery. I was put on laughing gas with local anesthetic, which gave a panic attack since I could still feel everything happening in my mouth. Dr. Haber was extremely rude and dismissive, making me feel like an idiot for having that reaction. I've since come to learn that most oral surgeons don't recommend laughing gas for wisdom tooth extraction for this very reason. I highly recommend Dr Haber. I was referred to him for an extraction and bone graft. My last extraction done by a leading clinic took well over an hour. A painful, torturous hour of constant pulling, wrenching, bone on bone grinding barbarism. Mediaeval in its execution. Dr Haber's extraction was quick, clean and painless. It took less than 7 minutes. The bone graft was quick and smooth. He was humorous and soft spoken; his staff attentive and pleasant. His prices are very reasonable for the NYC area, too. Absolutely terrible , would definitely avoid. Dr. Haber had a very rude bedside manner and it's not helpful when a patient is in pain. He suggested getting a cone beam X-ray to help him diagnose if a wisdom tooth extraction was risky but would not offer any clear explanations on why it's needed. On asking basic questions like why, what is is his opinion minus one, the cost, he would not offer any useful input and was pushy on getting the X-ray done immediately. The staff has no information on insurance coverage. They say they'll only know after the fact. There are friendlier oral surgeons more forthcoming with information and who won't rush you into making a decision. This practice might only be good for routine wisdom tooth extractions. read more

Just had my wisdom tooth removed and it was an interesting experience overall. When I got there a few of the ladies in the office were bickering about how to set up the room, which made me nervous. I mean I'm going in there to get a tooth removed and you don't know how to set up the room?! My boyfriend could hear them from the lobby. I walked into the room, picked my "panda bear" and selected the Eagles greatest hits as my soundtrack for the procedure. The women continued to bicker as I began breathing in my laughing gas, but this time they were concerned because they lost a piece of the tube for the gas. Dr. Haber walks in and then all of them begin looking for this "missing white piece" all while I'm about to get my tooth yanked. After a few minutes they abandon the search and give me a few shots of anesthesia. 1, 2, 3...DONE. So far I'm not in pain and didn't need antibiotics so we'll see how tomorrow goes! read more

Beyond frustrating experience with Dr. Haber's office. My teenager needs his wisdom teeth removed and his dentist recommended that we have it done before a school break so he would have time to recover, and he wanted it done fairly soon. On September 27 I spoke with Dr. Haber's office and explained that we were looking for an appointment before the Thanksgiving break and explained why. They made an appointment for November 24 at 9:30 am. On November 2 I got a call from the office that an error was made and that Dr. Haber teaches on Wednesday mornings so they wanted to move it to the afternoon. I said that was okay and that I was glad that they were not postponing it because we needed to have the extraction done before the holiday. Then last week I called the office to say that Jeremy was having his wisdom teeth out on Wednesday and I had not heard anything from the office about any preparation that was needed for the surgery, like should he fast that morning. I was told no, they do not use general anesthesia. At no time did anyone say that this appointment was just a consult and they were not doing the surgery that day. We got to the office today half an hour before our appointment and it was a madhouse. There was no place to sit in the packed waiting room and several people were out in the hallway and sitting on the steps. There were a number of frustrated patients and parents with various issues of paperwork, records, etc., and the unfortunate (and very nice) person at the front desk kept having to apologize for any inconvenience. When we got in to see the doctor we were told that Jeremy needed an MRI that would not be covered by insurance, which I consented to. Then the doctor came in and made recommendations about how many wisdom teeth would have to come out and that we would have to schedule the surgery. Needless to say I was dumbfounded, we had had an early Thanksgiving the previous week and had scheduled everything around this surgery. He said that this was scheduled only as a consultation and if it was going to be surgery Jeremy would have had to have fasted--in direct contradiction to what the office said about not needing to fast. He acted like I should have known that he would have to do the consult separately from the extraction. The office was overcrowded and disorganized and though the staff that was there was nice, I can't imagine letting my child get treated there. I paid more than $500 for the MRI and consult and I am sure that I will have to double-pay at least for the office visit. I am going to find another oral surgeon. The office also looks pretty run down and some of the staff did not have their masks completely over their noses according to Covid protocols. read more

Unfortunately, I've had a host of dental issues my entire life and am very, very scared and nervous when in the dentist's chair - Dr Haber and his office dealt with it without a problem. At first I thought that holding the teddy bear was a silly idea but I squeezed the heck out of that thing! The bone graft and implant procedures went seamlessly and there was no pain whatsoever during them. The dr and his staff were all friendly and professional and have done a great job so far; can't say I look forward to going back (as he's a dentist, after all :)) but am definitely not nearly as anxious as I usually am when having work done in my mouth read more

I was referred to Dr. Haber by my dentist office. It is a nice cozy office and Dr. Haber was pleasant but there were unknown cost which the receptionist could of done a better job at explaining. I need to extract two wisdom teeth. I ask the receptionist before I made the appointment for my consultation if they accept Metlife PDP and I was told yes. They did not mention they were not in network. I usually would have checked but because my dentist referred me there I did not check. I scheduled my appointment, went in for the consultation, and was charged $60. They did not make me aware they were going to submit a bill to my insurance for $150 for consultation. Now I have a balance of $90. They took x-rays of the teeth that needed to be extracted the panoramic radiographic image was $150 which was not covered by insurance, which they should have found out first. I thought my dentist took the xrays of the back tooth byt Dr. Saber said he needed to take an Xray of those teeth. They sent in for a pre-authorization for the two extraction of teeth and the laughing gas. Each tooth extraction would cost $500 and the laughing gas would be $150 and the laughing gas is not covered by insurance. Insurance only pay $144.70 towards each extraction and I would be responsible for the balance. Make sure that Dr. Haber is in network with your insurance or you will be responsible for more out of pocket. The receptionist could have done a better job of informing of the actual consultation fee, pricing the x-rays and checking if it was covered by insurance. I found an oral surgeon in network and will have to do another consultation which I will verify cost and get another pre-authorization to see how much insurance will cover being that this oral surgeon is in network. read more

All the extractions were hell because I didn't go under and all my teeth were impacted, but Dr. Haber kept me laughing and I didn't use the gas either. The assistants are really great too. I still have both of my bears from the 2 surgeries. Also, the doctor calls you at night to check up on you. Well done. read more

Dr. Haber and his staff are the best! The extraction went super smoothly. I was given a stuffed animal to squeeze in case of intense pains - in fact there wasn't almost no pains, thanks to Dr. Haber's techniques. He is professional, efficient, funny, no bullshit, and considerate - he even calls to check in on his patients after the surgery. His staff are equally competent and they've been a team for decades. I was going to wait to give this review until he removes my stitches next week, but you know what, I am not gonna wait because I know I am at good hands. I went to Dr Haber for a wisdom tooth extraction. Going to the dentist is a dreadful experience for me but Dr Haber and his staff met it absolutely fantastic. Rosie was very kind and his dental assistant was very friendly as well. Dr Haber will make you laugh and I found his prices to be good. Dr.Haber is amazing. I had all 4 wisdom teeth including 2 extract teeth on my upper left and upper right side. I never had anything more than a filling done. I was super nervous I had IV sedation still awake I think I was to nervous to fall a sleep. It was over before I knew it. I had procedure done Monday it's now Thursday for all the work I had done feel fine. A little discomfort but nothing Ibuprofen can't help.FYI take his advice do not that the pain pills. I asked for them he was hesitant but I insisted. He was right I took one a few hours after the surgery and was vomiting all night by far the most uncomfortable experience ever. In the garbage they went and took ibuprofen from then on. Dr. Haber is an amazing dentist and is straight forward. Also has the experience due to Dr. Haber removing my sisters 5 wisdom teeth 22 years ago. If you want it done right he's your go to. read more

I was referred to Dr Haber by my dentist for an emergency extraction of my wisdom tooth which broke. I was extremely nervous, had never had teeth pulled before, never had anesthesia and was just an all around wreck in anticipation of the experience. Having heard tons of wisdom tooth extraction horror stories I had no idea what to expect , and another oral surgeon I had seen told me I needed to remove all 4 at once, under general and have the procedure conducted at the hospital, but that is not what I heard in Dr Haber's office. He assessed my mouth, told me I needed 2 removed, one immediately and one I could wait on since it was on the opposite side of my mouth. He then gave me the option to proceed with the procedure that day or think it over and that I would only need novacaine and laughing gas. His staff was extremely nice and comforting. The hygienist told me he pulled all 4 of her wisdom teeth at once and I had nothing to worry about he had amazing hands. Of course that didn't stop my adrenalin from running as they prepped me for surgery. They put some music on for me and got to work. The entire procedure took 15 minutes tops! It was amazing, I felt some pressure but no pain at all. The recovery was also amazing, he prescribed painkillers but I never needed them, I had the procedure done on a Friday and I was back to work on Monday. Healing went superbly. I would refer Dr. Haber to anyone needing a tooth extraction! read more

First he asked me how I found him, I told him he was recommended by my dentist, and he said they need to stop. Then he removed a piece of food from between my teeth with a metal pick and put it in my face and asked me if I wanted to keep it... I said no. Finally he told me I need my wisdom teeth removed, which I already knew, and he told me I should removed my other tooth next to it like it doesn't matter. He told me to have my dentist look at it and make a decision base on what he says, which make sense, but he said it in a way that totally doesn't matter to him. I find him to be unprofessional, disrespectful, and unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend him to anybody. read more

I like Dr Haber a lot. I've been sending him my patients who need oral surgery for...15 years? He takes great care of them, and they routinely comment to me how their wisdom tooth or dental implant experience went so well. I've noticed the same thing, especially with the implants he's done for my patients. They are consistently PERFECT, which makes my job easy., and I really appreciate that. Dr.Haber makes getting teeth pulled fun! OK, not really. But if you've gotta get some teeth yanked, Dr.Haber and his staff make it the most pleasant experience it can be. His office is situated in a cozy brownstone in Brooklyn Heights. The waiting area is well stocked with a good selection of current magazines to take your mind off the impending doom. ( I was happy to catch up on the latest gossip with OK! magazine.) Examining rooms are kept fragrant by aromatherapy devices. Upon sitting down for my surgery I was handed a thick book of CDs to pick out music as accompaniment. When Dr.Haber came in, he sensed my anxiety and suggested anaesthesia for the surgery. He set me up with a nice cocktail of laughing gas and IV anaesthesia to sedate me. Ahhhh. Afterwards, the receptionist gave me a super detailed list of instructions to follow for the next few days and a gel ice pack to travel home with. Dr.Haber even called me that night to check up on me! A week later, I went back to get my sutures removed. Everything's almost healed now. I hope that's the last time I need his services, but Dr.Haber made the best that could be made of a bad situation. read more

Dr. Haber is by far the best! I had a more complicated issue with my wisdom teeth (cysts around the teeth and the teeth wrapped around the nerve). I had been working with another oral surgeon and it was taking forever with CT scans and insurance (six months). The other surgeon wanted me to go to the hospital to have the procedure done. It would have cost me $4000 just for the anesthesia. I decided to go for a second opinion and was referred to Dr. Haber. He has a CT scan in the office and took the time to go through everything we were looking at and he said it could be done in the office. The whole thing took an hour and I am happily recovering. His staff is beyond fantastic and I felt so at ease. I can't recommend Dr. Haber and his amazing staff enough. This is one office where it really is all abut the patient! read more

I've had the misfortune of needing an Oral Surgeon a few times in the past 18 years since moving to Brooklyn and I consider myself incredibly lucky that Dr. Haber's office is only a few blocks from my apartment. He and his staff have always taken excellent care of me as a patient - most recently throughout the 9-month process of an extraction and implant. I have rarely been kept waiting more than 5 minutes and their collective warmth and humor make each visit practically fun, despite my innate fear of needles. First of all to Emily M. who complained of not being unconscious during her procedure. The risks of general anesthesia, especially in an office, are multiple up to and including death. Dr. Haber kept you pain free without that risk exposure. He should be thanked. Technically Dr. Haber is superb clinician. Went to Dr. Haber for a wisdom tooth extraction. He and this HORRIBLE experience is the reason why I NOW am MORTIFIED of the dentist. The one good thing at Haber's office other than his very sweet staff was their amazing music collection. I was excited to choose my own music up until it was time for the procedure to begin. Dr. Hell stabbed my cheek once, shook it roughly, began and finished the procedure in all of 10 minutes! I felt INCREDIBLY RUSHED, he BARELY allowed my mouth to numb before he began almost literally pulling my tooth out of my mouth. IT WAS EXTREMELY PAINFUL to the point I was screaming at the top of my lungs. Dr. Hell obviously did not care, he made sure to make several jokes about me screaming in pain a week later during my follow up appointment. I, of course, did NOT feel comfortable NOR SAFE returning here to finish up the rest of my oral surgery procedures. If he can crack jokes about his patients being in pain, my comfort WAS NEVER and WILL NEVER be a concern of his; which is quite dangerous to me regarding ANY one who considers themselves a healthcare professional of any kind. read more

I needed a surgery to extract a broken wisdom tooth, in a difficult position. Dr Haber has a CT scan in his office, as well as other advanced equipment that makes procedures like this safer and easier. His staff was very friendly and caring, they never left me alone while wating. Afterwards I received detailed instructions of post surgical care, all needed supplies and even a phone call to check up on how I was doing. As good as going to dentist could be! read more

There were a few things about Dr. Haber that I really really disliked - and I would not recommend his services. Dr. Haber did not follow the anestesia plan we had discussed at my consult - simple as that. He went through the options, and I decided to go under for the surgery - I get queasy with needles and procedures and I wanted to know as little as possible about what's going on. He mentioned the he didn't think I needed to be out - and told me that's not how his sons did it. Either way - it was an option presented to me and I told him that was my choice. Day of the surgery - he gave me an IV and gas, but I was NOT out. I was awake for the whole thing. Eyes open, responding to him talking to me, and I was aware of the removal of every tooth (and there were 4). All in all - fine, but disconcerting when your Dr. disregards your previously discussed anesthesia plan. When I got my stitches out he even said "See I didn't think you needed to go under." Obviously your drug choice is Dr. Haber's not your own - and that is not explained at the consult. Secondly - he was late for my surgery appointment, and it was the first appointment of the day - not that great to watch your Dr come in late and rush around to get ready for your surgery, and it doesn't make you want to ask questions about the anestesia. In fact - I think the reason I wasn't put all the way under is that he had another patient right after me and there wasn't time for me to wake up fully. As it was, I was put in basically a supply room to sit and stabilize after he was finished. Finally - part of the reason I was in pain as long as I was, was because my CHEEK was stitched to my gums on one side. That made it hard to open my mouth fully. When I mentioned that fact to Dr. Haber when getting my stitches out he said "Oh yeah, your muscle attacked the stitches." Or.. you stitched my cheek to my gums. Oh, and don't ask them to call you when they get lab results if there's anything they're testing for you - they won't. They'll ask you to call the Drs. office, which doesn't make sense since YOU don't know when the results are coming. Convenient! At the end of the day, I did get my wisdom teeth out and all is well. He is an expert in his field and I have gone to his office on several occasions; for extractions, for implants and for problems. I cannot turn you away but I strongly suggest that you search around for other dentists and not just go to Dr. Haber because your dentist referred you. When Dr. Frank (Dental Spa of Brooklyn) recommended me to him...I was like what, why can't you do, he was like he doesn't do oral surgery...I was like fine...I'll give Dr. Haber a try...so of course my "I'm scared of dentist fear" came back but put on my big girl undies and made the appointment. His staff was really sweet and nice..made sure all my insurance forms were done so I wouldn't have any billing problems. So the first visit, he checked me out and was like this is going to be pretty easy and not too much pain...I looked at him like he was nuts. So I made the appointment for the actual "D-Day", the extract of 3 wisdom teeth. Woke up that morning scared as hell, but was like I gotta do this...So I did. His assistant brought me to the room, put a blanket on me and gave me a teddy bear to hold on too...Dr. Haber came in and was like what kind of music do you want to hear, I was like whatever you want...he was like ok...I'm in the mood for some Nora Jones....I'm like sure....as I'm shaking in fear...so his assistant and Dr. Haber calmed me down, gave me some laughing gas and we got this party started....the party was over in about 6 mins...yes 6 mins...all 3 wisdom teeth extracted and stitched up. They gave me an ice pack for my face to help with any swelling....I think I might have been the luckiest girl in the world cause I had very little swelling and was eating soup within 2 hours.
