After giving a quite reasonable and competitive estimate, I set things up with Cecelia....who arranged to have Andrew and his crew come out several days later. Along with arriving right on time, they worked fast and diligently moving out the the very large and heavy unit that I've used for many years, and then setting up the new one. In this regard, I should also mention, on Manny's advice, we switched from gas to electric...which seems to work far better than our previous unit which relied on gas. In addition, given the fact that our ducts were showing some of the wear and tear of the past 20-years (which included a few puncture holes in them), I arranged to with Manny to have a crew return to replace them. Again, the pricing was competitive and the job was done in less than a day. It's also worth mentioning that along with a very polite and courteous crew, everything in our backyard was left exceptionally clean. They were actually my second opinion. The first company I called was one of the larger big-box HVAC companies, and they quoted me over $3,000 worth of work. I didn't feel like their recommendations were actually addressing the issues I knew my HVAC system was having, so I decided to get another opinion. I'm very glad I did. When Miguel and Marvin came out for the initial diagnosis, they were able to identify the problems right away and clearly explain what actually needed to be done. Their quote was very reasonable and, honestly, cheaper than I expected, especially considering they were working on a system that's over 20 years old. Compared to what I had been quoted by the larger company, I felt like I was getting a much more accurate diagnosis and a fair price for the work that was actually necessary. Scheduling was easy, and they were able to come back the very next day with everything they needed to complete the work. They also provided before-and-after photos, which I really appreciated. After the service, my AC was blowing colder and stronger than I can ever remember. A separate issue came up afterward when I noticed water pooling underneath my return vent. They came back out and thoroughly checked and cleared the drain lines to make sure debris wasn't causing a backup. After further inspection, they discovered that the problem wasn't actually a clogged line--it was related to how the HVAC system had originally been installed. Please look at my profile for proof…read more I had a really regrettable experience with Air Elite Heating and Cooling--would strong suggest not using this business for any kind of product install. I paid $11,000 for a job that really is substandard. 1. Danny came to do my quote and was very nice, but when actual installation came he was not onsite. A very young and inexperienced guy installed the units basically in the middle of the wall. I was not consulted asked before the guy tore huge fist size holes in my wall that are in no way standard placement for mini splits. The guy moved the unit, I had to pay for the walls to be repaired and repainted! 2. The condenser was placed on the ground in the driveway. Again--I was never consulted about where it was to be installed. It should have been installed on the side of the house--it limits the function of my driveway forever. I cannot get my recycling/trash out if I am parked in my own driveway. 3. The drains that were placed on the outer wall of my house were installed so poorly that they constantly fall off. They were not adhered at all. When I put them back up, they are fitted so shoddily that they cannot be secured. Every time I pick them up and try to reassemble them--I can see how jankily they were put together. One of them is now cracked and water is spewing all over my wall. For nearly $11K spent, I feel really taken advantage of and bad about the integrity of their work. I contacted them in advance of this review with all of these points--they never responded.

Mike's Air was fantastic. I can't recommend them highly enough, especially Slava, the technician…read morewho took care of us. Our A/C stopped working during a stretch of 100-degree weather. The first company I called I asked if he did repairs or only replacement systems. He said, "I do repairs. That's why it's in the name!" "Great!" I thought. When he checked our system he told me the compressor was bad, which was expected. I asked if he could replace it with a new or reconditioned compressor, but he said no, because the system was about 10 years old and used an older refrigerant. He said the only option wasto replace the entire system. He also said we had an asbestos-wrapped pipe that would need to be removed by another company before he could do the work. He offered to get me in contact with that company, but never did, even after I followed up. So, in the meantime I decided to call Mike's Air. It was late on a Friday. We had Slava out by Monday. He checked the system, confirmed the compressor was bad, and gave me a very different answer: yes, the compressor could be replaced. He was straightforward about the pros and cons of buying an entirely new system vs just replacing the compressor. No selling. Just facts. The price for replacement was very reasonable compared to a full system, so I figured it only has to last about 4 years for it to pay off vs buying a new system now. I gave the deposit and about a week later the compressor arrived. Slava came out the very next day -- on a Saturday -- and installed it. Everything is working again and we couldn't be happier. Not just cuz we saved money (short-term), but I felt confident that Slava was doing a professional job. What impressed me most was that Slava/Mike's Air actually gave us a repair option instead of automatically pushing a full replacement. Slava was knowledgeable, straightforward and professional throughout the entire process, as was Rhea back at Mike's. Highly recommended.
