I submitted my W-2 as well as my 1099 and wrote all of the expenses I wanted to get written off on a piece of paper which was attached to my documents. While I was pleased that everything was done in a timely matter, I was quite dissatisfied with the fact that the deductions I wanted applied were not. The firm stated that everything I asked to get written off was included in the return. I had to come back twice on the top of my original visit with each time finding out not everything was written off. If I didn't check, the firms negligence would have cost me an additional ~$5,000 in federal and state taxes. I was not offered any discounts on the tax preparation costs nor did I even receive an apology for making multiple mistakes and making me come back multiple times. I had a terrible experience and will be taking my business elsewhere next year.

He misspelled one of our names and put the wrong address on our tax return, basic information that should absolutely be correct. When we asked to sit down with him for a few minutes to review everything and make sure it was accurate, he flat-out refused and became immediately nasty. At that point, we asked for our check back so we could have our taxes done elsewhere by someone who would actually give us the time of day. He told us he had already cashed it, so we asked him to write us a check. He did but then, as he was handing it to us, he pulled it back to make a copy. He then handed us the copy and sarcastically asked why we would need a copy of a check. When we said because he handed it to us, he responded, "Yeah, because I wanted to see how little you pay attention." It only got worse. He told us the only reason he agreed to do our taxes was because of who our family is, and that we couldn't possibly be related to them because we are "too stupid." When we reminded him that we were there because he made mistakes and that he should be apologizing instead of belittling us, he said "I don't apologize". Completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable behavior, especially from someone handling something as important as your taxes. There is a reason this firm has so many one-star reviews. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

Most of my contact was with Bob, Claire & Susy and they were able to make the necessary corrections to get me and my company back on track. Have to admit this experience was a bit uncomfortable for me. It may be. a great tax office but I…read moredid my due diligence before coming in & was basically "turned down" or given misinformation before my arrival. First, the front desk & whoever answers the phone we're so friendly but when I met Robert he turned me down before even looking at my tax return. Stating "I don't want to take your money". I assume he has a fair thought process for this but it didn't come across that way. He said my tax return wasn't too complex. I appreciate his honesty but I'd remind him that I made a trip to his office & you should always treat everyone with some level of respect. Not quite sure what he was using as an indicator to not take me on as a client but I've never heard of a CPA firm making someone feel like I was wasting "their" time. Mind you, he still has no clue what my 2017 take home was. WTH is that. Can't help but think he prejudged me. Matter of a fact he recorded I use Turbo Tax. Wow. My advice to Robert is to commit the time you promise, 1hr, look at a person's return to understand their taxes, & let them come to a final conclusion if they would like to pay to your fee. Otherwise you have people like myself confused as to how you made your assessment that I wasn't worth taking on. News flash my demographic is the new future "hypos" of the world...do your research on the word & demographic. I am disappointed.

Disclaimer: I was recommended to utilize David Zhang's expertise by a family friend of David. This…read morereview is not on the employee (who was pleasant) but it is on David. I first went to consult David back in March 2022 and he was great. He answered all my tax questions and I was in and out of the office in no time. I thought to myself, great, I just found an amazing accountant in my neighborhood. During that time, I explained to David about my situation and he responded to come back to me when tax season is over and all he has to do is to file a 1040x (to amend my tax return - 1040). (Side note: The issue that I had was that I initially e-filed my taxes. The federal rejected it but the state accepted it. Which is why I went to seek professional services in resolving the problem). So on December 12, 2022 at 1:30pm I went to see David and his office was busy. I told David I did not have an appointment and I asked, "should I make an appointment"? He decided to hear me out at first but then he passed my case to one of his employees. The employee explained to me that since I did not file my taxes 2020 taxes with them, there is nothing that they can do and I would have to come back during tax season. I tried to explain to them what David told me back in April (to come back after tax season) and David told his employee in Chinese "just ignore him, he is too annoying". Yup, just because someone doesn't speak the language, doesn't mean the person does not understand. The funny thing is that, just over the weekend, the same family friend asked me how was my experience with David because she wanted to file her taxes with him for the upcoming year. I raved about how great he was the first time around but after this experience, it got me to think: if a family friend doesn't even use your service in the first place, it is extremely telling of your professional demeanor or the lack thereof. When filing as a freelancer on 1040ES, you're supposed to pay quarterly estimates. Repeatedly over the 3 years I used Marc, he told me as long as I paid ALL of the estimated taxes by the final due date as opposed to quarters, I'd be ok and not be fined. Well I'm sitting here at 3 years since using Marc and now I have received fines from the IRS for 2 of the years I used his services. Luckily I've switched to someone else who told me I should 100% be paying quarterly and no fines so far. And also saving a couple hundred on prep costs. I cannot recommend Marc's tax prep services for this reason. If you're cutting corners on taxes it'll end up costing you in the end. I gave Marc an extra star just because he was a nice and pleasant guy but fines speak louder.
