Thank you for the beautiful christmas tree donation, Soho Trees! That was so kind of your organization to give a 10 ft + tree so that we can light up our holiday party for the kids of NYC. Happy holidays!

Perfect Noble for tree. The price was definitely on the high side, ($600!), but it was a beauty.

All ready for the holiday party!

I volunteer with the Actors Theatre Workshop and am so impressed and appreciative of the generosity of SoHo Trees. This year ATW reached out to SoHo Trees to see if they could donate a 10 foot tree for the Builders of the New World holiday celebration, a program for children living in temporary housing facilities. SoHo Trees immediately responded to our request offering to donate and deliver a beautiful tree. When I arrived at ATW to help with decorating, I was immediately impressed by the donated tree. It was the perfect size and shape, and I could tell as we decorated the tree that it was very healthy, (barely lost any needles!). Throughout the day, volunteers stopped to admire the tree, and I know that the children participating in the holiday program will be just as awestruck. In addition to the tree, SoHo Trees donated bags of tree branches that we used to intertwine with Christmas lights and frame doorways. Thanks to SoHo Trees, the children participating in the holiday program who normally would not be able to have decorations will be able to celebrate the holidays with a beautiful tree.

If you can afford it, live like a Rockstar in Soho!

    Patti Romp's Christmas Trees

They drive down from Vermont the day after Thanksgiving and they stay until Christmas. It really is a wonderful life. When I lived in the neighborhood, I would turn down the corner and see them, beacons in the late November sun. They signal, for me, the beginning of the holiday season: time for the eggnog, the warm woolen sweaters, the Jethro Tull Christmas Album, and a few fingers of scotch or cider at the fire. The happiness I feel when I see them at the beginning of each holiday season is unparalleled to almost anything I have ever felt during the season in all my life. It's akin to the warmth I felt as a young child walking into my grandparents' house half a continent away. My (now ex) boyfriend and I would get our trees from them every year. I remember the first year that we came to know these people. Tim, Patti's son, sat there as we told him what our living room was like. He got a feel for who we were and then selected our tree based on that. He then carried it all the way to the northern Heights for us and set it up. No expectation of any sort of compensation-- just out of the kindness of his heart. He showed us how to care for our tree, and asked us to take a photo of it for him once we had decorated it. Of course, we then always talked to him and his mom whenever we passed them on Montague, which was often. Tim's imaginative and always had funny stories to relay to us about his day. I hope he never loses that spark in his eye. The next year-- after a whole year of not seeing Tim and Patti --we returned, and Tim remembered the exact height and type of tree he had sold us. We of course continued buying from Tim and Patti. Brooklyn Heights has that old world appeal to it. You feel as if you're in a Dickens novel anyway. Yet when you pair the immaculate historic district with Tim and Patti and their trees as celestial white flakes begin to fall, you wonder how you could ever have a bad day again in your life. This year it's just me. I also live farther now-- in Queens. Tim will not be able to carry my tree for me this year. But on the day after Thanksgiving, I will certainly ask him to help me select a nice, smaller one, that I may transport myself.

Customers are not respected,…read morefrom rude staff answering the phone with attitude, lack of communication regarding stated arrival time, to poor installation of plants that is not done with accepted standard practice of professional gardeners for the health of plants. Also, the plants that cost me a couple of thousand dollars had many broken branches because the workers rushed to install them. They also want payment up front before any delivery/installation/scheduling. It was a horrible and stressful experience. Informing the owner of my experience resulted only in his making excuses for USG's bad actions with no apology whatsoever. ***And because I posted my review, the owner Dimitri vindictively told me that he would no longer stand behind the plants or the work done to make things right. He didn't like my honest review. Prior to my review, he was willing to make right his failures, if needed. It is disappointing that UGC is unable to acknowledge its mistakes or shortcomings, and that they do not know how to interact with customers.
