Hair hair hair! I've been here several times now. My hairstylist moved to CA during covid and I wasn't happy with the ones I've tried here. So now, she fly back every few months and do my hair! Wooo. And she happens to rent a chair from here. Salon itself is nice, it's way far up in Burien but good hair is worth traveling for. My last/ recent visit, I got to try sofylia's service. I wanted to get my nails done during my 4 hours hair appointment. And they managed to get one of the services done for me. I got my pedicure while my Foiliage color was processing. Hang was the girl that helped me and she was really nice. Made my super quick/ chaotic pedicure so fun. Now I'm adding on that special/ pampering pedicure on top of my service everytime I come! It was around $60 for pedicure I believe and well worth it!

My hair is glossy, the texture is soft, and the color is beautiful. I appreciate your patience and careful detail when after what seemed like a over a hundred painted foils. I had a good experience at sofylia at the beginning of the year. The first time I went, I had a trim and a Brazilian blowout done by randy and he was very nice and informative. I enjoyed talking to him and I love how soft my hair came out afterwards. The second time I went I got a color melt done by jasmine I believe. My hair was completely virgin black hair before and I know that the texture and thickness of my hair can be a little bit difficult to handle at times but I think she did a great job. Unfortunately I haven't been able to come back for touch ups due to covid so my hair has just been growing out. On the bright side, she did such a great job blending that there isn't a really bad grow out look and the color still looks great!

I'm late to writing this review but that being said, I'm writing it now because I HAD SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE HERE!!! Jasmine did a fine job. She discussed some options on what to do for my hair in regards to how much maintenance I wanted to do as well as a timeline on how often I'd need to touch it up, and the cost of each option. Instead of going full on silver, I decided to go for a balayage and I was not disappointed. She also told me what she was doing each step of the way, so it made me feel super comfortable knowing what was going on up there Plus it meant SHE KNEW HER STUFF! There was a lot of work to be done on my hair because COVID, and the last salon didn't do the best job blending my hair during the re-bleaching process. Even then, she stayed late to make sure everything was perfect and also made sure I got to my car safe I'm due for a touch up in a month or so, and I'm definitely making the drive from Seattle to Burien for this salon!
This is my first session going from very dark Asian hair to a light ash blonde balayage and let me just say I've had a great experience so far! I booked an appointment with Wynn and she was just the sweetest thing! She was running a little late but she made sure to text me to let me know. I only waited for about 10 minutes so it really wasn't a big deal. Once she got to the salon we got right down to business. Once I was seated she asked me about the history of my hair so she could get some knowledge on how to go about the process of coloring it. I let her know my hair was mostly virgin but I probably had about 1 inch left of black box dye at the ends. I also let her know that I used Head N' Shoulder's w/ Almond Oil as a daily shampoo. She explained that the shampoo has harsh chemicals and are some of the same used in floor wax so I really appreciated that she was knowledgeable about that because I certainly had no idea! She explained step by step what she was going to do, how long it was going to take, and that she would try her best to get me as light as she could without damaging my hair. After about 2 hours of the foil process I had to sit and wait a while to give the bleach sometime to lift. While I was waiting she offered me wine, cheese, water, cup noodles, and granola bars. I believe they offer the wine and cheese to customers with $100 + service, which I definitely took advantage of! (I'm a mom and this was a rare day of pampering myself so why not lol). They also have chargers with extra long chords so if your phone is running low on battery, have no fear. Wynn and I also talked about our lives majority of the time so killing 6 hours was no problem haha. After checking on the bleaching progress she was super honest about the reality that I was not going to leave the salon with the light ash blonde that I wanted, which I didn't expect anyways since my hair is really dark and tends to lift slowly. She told me since I was paying a significant amount of money she didn't want me leaving the salon with a color I wasn't satisfied with so she asked if I would go for a "slate gray" color that she showed me on pinterest, which I was totally down for. In the end, the color ended up being a brownish gray color that I actually really ended up liking. Not a bad pit stop to going blonde. I also requested that she give me a blunt shoulder length hair cut that was super cute! By the end of the appointment she told me that my hair was still healthy and that I could schedule the next session as soon as I wanted too. I'm probably going to wait a few months since it is a lot of money, but I'm sure when I get there, I'm going to love it!
My son had a haircut from a previous visit that was just a couple of days ago. The hairstylist didn't do a great job on his combover. She didn't blend his hair well, missed some spots, and didn't line him up well. Not sure if she didn't understand what I was asking for, but I decided to bring him here because I couldn't stand how his hair looked. To be honest my son dislikes haircuts. He tends to cry the whole time. Sometimes he has to sit on our laps and we would have to hold him down. However, today was different. He still wanted to sit on my lap, but he didn't budge, whine, or cry at all! Evalyn did a great job with him. She made sure he knew what she was going to do. For example, she showed him the spray bottle and sprayed into the hair couple times to show him it's only water. He was actually talking to her and whispering some words, which I took it as a surprise. It made me so happy to finally find a place where my son feels comfortable and to receive a nice haircut. This place is magical. The hair stylist I originally went to unfortunately moved to another state so I was in desperate in need for new salon and colorist to go to. I've heard great things about Sofylia for many years and there's a few friends that actually have been loyal to this spot for years. I figure this is the time to try out this place. Location of this place is oddly hidden, I almost got lost unfortunately but that's due to where I parked. Just be aware that this salon is located behind US Bank side. Interior-wise is a purple themed, extremely cute and clean. I booked a full balayage service with Hong. Words cannot describe how AMAZING she is. I have a history of box hair dye leftover on old balayage hair I had which is unfortunate. Hong definitely exceeded my expectations. Throughout the service, she was so sweet and patient. She listened to my needs and what I was requesting and gave me an idea on how she's going to proceed with the hair service. The end result of my hair was honestly out of words, I was obsessed! I definitely enjoyed my time with Hong and getting to know her during my service. Overall, I think I found my togo salon and togo person to get hair done. This place is definitely on pricier end, but for what I've paid for, I've never been so happy about my hair before. And even though I got my hair done with Hong, other stylist/colorist in the salon know their stuff so I believe you'll get the same amazing treatment with them! Sofylia is worth it and you won't be disappointed in whatever hair service you get!
I am just completely blown away with Jasmine. I drove an hour away for my first visit here and I will continue to come back!!! I've been to several salons and each time I've talked about going blonde, it either turns out brassy and unblended after a full 8 hours in a chair, or I've been asked to set out multiple appointments to gradually become blonde. Jasmine transformed my hair in one appointment. I showed her a few pictures of my desired result, and it came out even better than I expected. Jasmine is knowledgeable, precise, attentive, and it seems like she takes so much pride in her work. Thank you again, Jasmine!!!!!
Lindy at Sofylia Salon is amazing! I started getting my hair colored 6 years ago and my previous hairdresser could not get my hair light enough that I would get brassy tones regardless of using blue shampoo. I finally decided to try out Sofylia Salon after looking at some of their reviews here on Yelp, to see if they could fix my hair. I liked customer pictures and so I decided to give it a try. And sure enough, Lindy got my hair to a color that I absolutely love!!! I'll be going here from now on.

Came here to get a balayage ombré done, saw the awesome reviews and I am so glad I picked this place! Total process took about close to 6 hours but so worth it. I came in looking for Jasmine, I wanted to go as light as possible. My hair was previously red for a few years and I ended with a brassy brown for the past few months which I do understand is the worst situation you can have for any hairstylist to fix. I did a full foil and got an amazing color. Jasmine even got it to be ashy and I am very happy with how everything turned out. Jasmine was very transparent and told me that i wouldn't be able to get to a total ash blonde and explained to me what she could do and I am very happy with the results. I have a LOT of hair and the red is very stubborn to get rid of but she did an amazing job. She offered drinks and snacks throughout the process and also gave me a complimentary mask to help recover my hair. Highly professional and very friendly. I will be back in a few months to tone it. Shout out to Jasmine for being the absolute BEST gift to all women's (and men's) hair! In my many years of ups & downs at various hair salons, Sofylia Salon is the absolute *first* place that has left me with an end product that matched EXACTLY what I wanted before coming in to the salon. What I love about Jasmine was that she was extremely patient and really took the extra time to go over (many) pictures with me, talk about what I wanted, and show me pictures from her own phone and the salon's books. Not only did she really listen to what I wanted, but actually understood. And delivered. Absolutely beautifully. (side note detail: I have thick Asian hair and started with long, dyed & toned blonde ombre and ended with short, ash brown with a hint of silver balyage per Jasmine) I admire her hard work ethic, her dedication to her work, and her stunning talent. Even though the salon had closed for the weekend (it was a Friday) she had the best personality and did not rush on my hair. She was very easy to talk to when conversation flowed and, conversely, she was as equally respectful of the silence when I wanted to study or read magazines. I've found my *one* salon and I'm more than happy to refer them to all of my girlfriends who want their hair done. I will definitely be back! read more

This is my second visit here and my second review of Sofylia Salon. Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Jasmine and that I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone! I came in for a much needed tone (see before & after pics attached). Every time I'm here I feel relaxed and comfortable, and I know my hair is in good hands. Literally. The salon has a very welcoming vibe; no loud music or tv, no kids screaming, nobody taking a phone call. My only tip: please call ahead of time and schedule an appointment! And if u want to cancel... (not that you should) call and let them know so they can adjust there schedule and fit someone else into your time slot. The salon is run by 2 sisters who are very hard working busy women. I'm very picky about who will cut my hair ever since I've had experiences where hair stylists have no idea what I'm trying to explain or places are too expensive. I went in for a Brazilian blowout. The price they told me over the phone was more than they asked when I went there. The styler was rude and didnt want to answer questions. I washed my hair after three days as directed by the stylist and there was so much damage on the hair. Instead of not having any frizz I had more. My hair feel super rough and unmanageable. Wow!!! Each time I've seen Hong, I come out with amazing hair. I use to go to Gene Juarez and spend money on services that weren't needed. My hair looked descent but the color never lasted, it eventually turned brassy and on top of that, it was dry. It's hard to find someone that understands Asian coarse hair, especially when I wanted caramel highlights. Hong took her time with me, she did color correction, gray touch up, toned, balayage and deep conditioning. After a few months, my hair was healthy, long, shiny and beautiful. Now, all I have to do is maintenance. Hong educates her clients on all the services she performs so you know what your receiving and are happy with the results. I love my hair, and it's so soft with the Brazilian blowout. Today, I had a manicure and my nails look pretty too, their nail technician is an artist. For lash extensions, Jasmine is phenomenal. When someone pokes around my eye area, it's scary. She's gentle, precise and takes her time. Sofylia is a gem and I'm sad that I'm sharing my secret with the world since I'm certain everyone who visits will return. read more

I found Hong through her Instagram and probably stalked her page for several months but finally decided to give her a try after seeing the results of my friends who got their hair done by her! When I first walked in, I was instantly seated. Hong was sweet and outgoing person so I didn't feel any awkwardness when we talked as she was working on my hair. I came in with very brassy, blonde hair where my roots were not very blended in some areas. My hair is naturally thick, coarse and probably dead at the ends from all the previous years of bleaching. I told Hong that my goal is to achieve silver hair and clearly understood the many session of bleaching is required to achieve silver from black hair. I watched her do the entire process while she was working on my hair from applying the hair dye to rinsing to toning, to rinsing, to toning to rinsing again to toning (yes, she tone my hair a bunch of times) and rinsing again. She also showed me a little sneak peak of my hair while she was rinsing but its hard for me to tell how color would be while my hair was still wet. Now let me remind you, I came in with warm, brassy blonde hair and I was expecting my result to be partially ash blonde near my roots and silver at the ends, but after my hair was dried, my whole hair was SILVER. YES SILVER. THERE WAS NO SPECK OF BRASSINESS IN MY HAIR WHAT SO EVER & I WAS ACTUALLY SILVER. The ends of my hair didn't look fried either!! Hong gave me the color I had dreamed of achieving and I couldn't even be more happier when I walked out of the salon! Hong takes her sweet time on her work including applying the hair dye, touching up AND toning your hair as much as possible. I had never found any stylist like her (beside haircuts), especially of how long my hair is at the moment. Most stylist I would go to, to dye my hair would usually get lazy probably after working half of my hair but not Hong. I HIGHLY recommend Hong with my LIFE if anybody is on a search for someone who can do color melts. Hong is also getting booked up really quickly too (I had to wait for a month) so make an appointment with her before she's completely booked! P.S. If you can't get Hong, there was another stylist there name Jasmine and her work looked just as good as Hong from her Instagram! read more

I went in for a toning session with Hong. I should mention how efficient it was when I contacted her for an appointment via email! Definitely made the booking process quick and accommodating. Upon my arrival Hong asked if I would like a beverage, I'm glad she did because I was pretty thirsty. I went in with a partial balayage from about three months back from another color stylist. My hair was pretty brassy and orange. Hong was very relatable and we had fun conversations! I was also able to discuss what colors and tones I gravitate towards. During my toning session I was given a head massage during my wash (kudos!) . Once I was on the chair to get my hair blow dried and styled I was thrilled to see the results. Hong was able to apply what was said during our conversations, my hair tone is now ash brown/blonde! I really appreciate her listening ears and her execution! One of the things that I always look for in a stylist: a knowledgable professional that provides maintenance tips for their clients. Hong definitely carried these characteristics! My toning session was priced at $45, however Sofylia Salon is offering 20% off to new clients! That's $9 off the initial $45, sweet!!! One last thing, my birthday is around the corner and as a treat the Salon is offering me a free manicure session! Ladies, give Hong a visit! I am so pleased with her work and attentiveness!!! I just had my first but definitely not last session with Hong. All I can say is... I'm in love! She did an amazing job with my hair that was damaged from dye & she was able to fix my horrible layers when no one else could. Would I recommend her to anyone? Absolutely! Normally I'm selfish and keep all the good places to myself but this time I just had to write a review. In June, I moved from San Francisco to Seattle and I must admit leaving my old stylist gave me lots of anxiety. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find someone able enough to do my hair at the level I expect (sometimes I'm not the easiest client to work with). I have a lot of hair and often times I find stylists get overwhelmed when they have me in their chair. I booked an appointment with Jasmine, one of the owners of the salon and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She made me comfortable, even offering to buy me Starbucks (who does that?!!) and asking tons of questions about my expected outcome and realistic expectations. After we both agreed on a plan, she got to work on my head. After five hours of laughter, great conversation,her hard work, and our patience, her magic unveiled itself. So thank you Jasmine and team for the wonderful experience and results! They gave me a lot of advice and tips on keeping my hair icy and cool and that did not go unappreciated. read more

Got my haircut by Hong. Got so many compliments the next day. Love it! Hong knows how to cut asian hair. She was nice enough to wait for me even though I was 20 minutes late. I liked that she first cut my hair dry, then wash, blow dry, and a final cut! Price is on the high end but not outrageous. $45 for mine. I think you get what you pay for so I'm ok with this. I am willing to pay more for an excellent bob haircut! I have had 6 stylists in the past tried cutting the bob haircut on me and she is by far my favorite! Thanks Hong! Best place ever!! Got my hair done with Hong back in 2015, and fell in love EVERYTIME. I took a break from hair for more than a year and let my hair grow out to it's dark coarse state (couldn't maintain blonde since I had a busy school schedule) I went back to Hong after so long, she was soooo nice and welcoming about it. I don't even show a picture to Hong because I trust her completely, I'm already so grateful for her to do my hair!!! Anything she does/touches is so beautiful. Usually asian hair takes multiple session to get the shade you want but Hong was able to get me to desire color in one visit read more

Hong is absolutely the BEST colorist and stylist that I have ever found to work on my hair. Before Hong, I was frustrated, because my past colors/cuts never looked good a few weeks after I get my hair done. I began to believe that "that's just how it is". I was also never fully satisfied and always trying to attain a different look or style than I received. Thankfully, on a quest to find someone who could give me exactly what I want, I found Hong's instagram page FILLED with before and afters of color melts and color corrections. I messaged Hong and after sending her a photo of my hair, she consulted with me and was very honest with setting expectations. The color correction was absolutely flawless. Through all my years of going to different salons (and paying $$$ for "high end services" at GJ), I have never seen a colorist work so meticulously. She took time (6 hours from start to finish) to perfect my hair in the bleaching/correction portion, as well as precisely paint the toner. I recently went back a couple months after my initial correction service to go lighter and add more grey/silver tones. Absolutely loving the results. Not only does she work so hard to give you the shades you want, but she also cuts hair! REALLY WELL, to be more specific. I have THICK, COARSE, WAVY, Asian hair. She tames it just right and is a fantastic stylist. To top it all off, Hong is really fun to be around. She's easy to talk to and fun loving. 5 stars for the service and friendliness of the staffs. I got a section at lunch time so I brought my lunch and they prepared my a table and napkins and water!!!!! Great salon in Burien. Covid questionnaires were sent prior to appointment, temperature was checked, and masks were worn during the entire appointment. Because of my long thick hair, I was looking for a long layered haircut that kept as much length as possible but also removed some of the thickness. Wynn was super friendly and understood exactly what I was looking for. Hair is still long but lots of body and movement without weighing it down. Highly recommend! read more

Wow! I absolutely love Sofylia salon!! I've gotten my hair done here twice so far and everything is amazing. I have attached photos so you can see my hair transformation. I first went in to cut it and get a consultation for a future coloring and I was so happy with my haircut! Jasmine took my vision and made it 10x better. Just bring in pictures and they will make the look work with you! I also learned so many amazing hair tips and tricks from Jasmine. She is literally a hair guru. I then proceeded to book my balayage appointment (which you should definitely book early because they are booked months out). She helped me prepare for the coloring as well as taught me basic hair maintenance. I next went in for a balayage and came out so happy with the results. My friends and family were endlessly complimenting me, I was so impressed. Yet again, Jasmine exceeded my expectations! I've found my new 'home salon'! Wynn spent 5 and a half hours on my hair. We didn't get the tone of blonde I initially wanted, however it still came out amazing after it was dried and styled. Wynn was very sweet and professional. The texture cut was exactly what I wanted. (the last stylist gave me a very blunt cut, which wasn't flattering because I have thick hair so it wasn't layered or texturized, yikes) I trust Wynn with the chemicals and scissors to my hair. I am definitely coming back here for my trims and maintenance! All staff at the salon were friendly; even got coffee, wine and snacks :) read more

Hair done by Jasmine. I called on a Friday to schedule for the weekend and the staff was able to accommodate me at the last minute to get my hair done by Sunday. Ramy, Hang & Jasmine were all so nice and definitely will be going back. I finally found my salon! So happy with the end result! 5 hours later but it was well worth it!! read more

Stunning work (color melt), super sweet and professional service, and such a warm, relaxing experience. The color work by Jasmine is outstanding. She is a master of her craft!
