My other half and I were looking for a casual spot where we could enjoy good drinks & a light dinner. Based on other Yelp reviews we decided to try something new and head to Sofie's. The location is spacious with "clean" decor. There's a bar and several high top seats for dining as well as a more conversational sitting area up front. There are a couple of outside tables. This is not a loud bustling place. The two times we've been there have been a few other guests at the bar and the whole place has a very friendly vibe. The drinks are simple but with clever touches. Their Sofie's old fashioned comes with a rock candy stir stick, and their Buffalo Bourbon Smash and Blood Orange Mojito are also favorites of ours. The menu is simple but high quality. We opted for deli sandwiches and they were fabulous! As another reviewer also said - I'm still thinking about that Italian sandwich! They have several small Plates as well as pizza. The only hitch was we had wanted to play a table game while we were there and the manager very kindly explained that because they also have gaming, any other games that involve cards or dice games aren't allowed per stat ordinance. Kind of a bummer because I'd come more often if we could bring our own games. Definitely a place worth checking out! read more

My girlfriend brought me home a London broil sandwich for dinner, Oh WOW! Hands down it was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in a very long time, the quality of ingredients, flavor profile and freshness are unmatched! Finally came to Woodstock to try this place. They have a long list of bourbons, whiskys, and several cocktails. Hubby was excited to talk whisky with them and they recommended Oban 14 year Scotch Whiskey. $12 He is delighted with this drink. I opted for one of their Fall Drink Specials: Apple Cider Smash $10. I saw the name, and knew this was the right place for us. We'd spent part of the day outside in a friend's backyard, and were ready for a nice, relaxing dinner, in a cool place, but we didn't really want anything fancy (other than our drinks, always). My Manhattan was perfect, as was my husband's Old Fashioned. And my Italian sub was so good I was craving it again two days later. My husband also enjoyed his club. The only problem was, we live an hour away so I couldn't just jump in the car and go pick up an their sub whenever I wanted one. Our server and the owner were both great, the restaurant was spotless, they let us linger, and we truly had the best time. If only there was one closer to us! Sofie's is a sophisticated bar atmosphere. Not your typical wings and cheese sticks bar food place, but charcuterie board, quinoa bowl, warm sandwich slider, flatbread kind of place. We hosted a birthday party here and they were very accommodating. Everyone loved the vibe of the place. The food, drinks, and service were 5 stars, even with our big group. I usually come in to go to their video gaming, which by the way is a great environment. But the food is really great too. I have only have had their small plates, but everything I have tried is really good. It is a nice blend of flavors and presentation. Yummy. The staff is super nice and friendly; when I come in they say hi to me with my name. The atmosphere is wonderful, cozy with wall fireplaces. I think it has the nicest atmosphere in town. I went to Sofie's soft opening, not even knowing they were open yet. I had planned to go next door to the microbrew because they had a food truck outside. But Sofie's was a GREAT and better choice. I went back the next weekend and will return many times! Sofie's has an excellent selection of bourbons (my preference), plus other whiskeys, wines, and beverages. We really wanted to try this place and we finally did. When you walk in the interior has a whiskey barrel/modern feel and the smells were great, so our expectations were high. The server was polite while we were there, but she didn't have the answers to everything and had to walk away a couple of times to get them. When it came to the drink menu there was a few selections of house cocktails. The only cocktail tried was the smokin old fashioned was not Impressed. We also had 2oz pours of multiple bourbons and even the barrel aged tequila that they use for one of their drinks. They also didn't have everything listed since they were on "back order." Over all the whiskey list was nothing special, it seemed as if everything they had you can easily find at liquor store. I feel they need to get some more rare whiskeys that actually draw attention. Now for the food, we had some Ruben sandwiches and a pizza. The Ruben tasted good, but nothing above average using boars head meats and cheese. The pizza was not good, way too much sauce which tasted as if it was from a jar and not enough cheese or meat. The manager(or owner) did remake the first pizza since he was not pleased with how it turned out and we give him credit for not serving food under his expectations. However, that couldn't save the pizza from its poor execution. Above all, the food is way over priced and even the pours of whiskey were above the average price else where. With everything said, our group of 4 all agreed that this isn't the place for us. We want something that offers a better drink and food selections at reasonable prices. read more
