Been here several times, but the last time, it seemed to slip on many levels. The food is really not too authentic for Greek food, but usually good. This time, the Greek meatball app came out undercooked and the moussaka was watery. On top of that, when we received our appetizers, within three minutes, they brought the entrees, which we needed to send back. They did not seem pleased to do that. I wrote to the restaurant commenting about the dinner. No one ever responded. Hence, if they do not care about their repeat customers, why should I care about going back. read more

After patiently waiting for the off season to try Sofia's, we booked dinner reservations for Christmas Eve. My husband and I are vegan, and the menus were clearly marked with vegan options. We started with drinks and apps, our favorite being the eggplant dip. We both opted for the Imam for our entree. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and marinated very well! We decided to grab a few more drinks at the bar while we waited for our Uber. The ambiance was beautiful, but still comfortable enough to catch the end of the football game on television. Overall Sofias provided us a beautiful night out and was the best vegan meal I've had in a restaurant in a long time. read more

Felt great to be out with friends again sharing good food and drinks at the beach! Sofia's has a great outdoor space, beautifully decorated and really spacious indoors and big bar area. The menu is pretty big with a nice selection of apps that we all shared. The Saganaki and dips and lamp chops were really good. I got the pork chop special for my entree which was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. Our server Maria was the best. She was super knowledgeable about the wine and food and gave us great recommendations. She didn't rush us at all even though we closed the place! We will definitely be back. read more

Fantastic restaurant! I brought my girlfriend here on a date and the atmosphere was fantastic. The decor was great and the overall atmosphere was awesome. Vinny was our server and he was amazing. I've never met a waiter who was so well read into the menu and made us feel so comfortable. Vinny was extremely pleasant and I look forward to being served by him again. Had a mixed experience for dinner. The moussaka bowl was good, everything else was really bad and would never order again. The Tuscan pizza is not good. The worst part of the meal was the mixed grill for 2 ($120). Very disappointed and surprised by the poor quality + presentation. It looked like several appetizers + the meat was dried out. This could have been a 5 star review, but it's not because of something totally avoidable. We arrived tonight (with a reservation) and were escorted to a table in the blazing sun. When we asked to move to one of the shaded tables, the hostess said she'd check if she could and then came back and we were told quite adamantly that they were reserved. It was surprising that both of the other tables that could fit my party were specifically reserved. It's always been my experience that most people make a reservation and are seated where the host sends them upon arrival, but ok, we accepted our fate. After all, concessions need to be made during a pandemic, right? We sat down and had a pretty delicious meal. The wait staff were exemplary. The food was brought out in perfect timing and the cocktails were great. The only damper was the sun beaming down on at least half of us at any given time throughout the meal. The thing that prompted me to write this review at all, was that neither of the 2 "reserved" tables were occupied for the entirety of our time there. We were uncomfortable for literally no reason whatsoever and the management made no apologies nor did they offer at any point to move us. Even the smallest gesture of an apology would have been appreciated but unfortunately it was not offered. 'Hey, here's a free round on us for your inconvenience' or 'please try this appetizer on the house' would have done the trick to at least make us feel recognized, but nope, nada. We have been ordering from Sofia throughout the summer and have eaten there many times in seasons past. I'm just so disappointed in the disregard for customer service during a time when going the extra mile really matters. It's a shame. read more

If you want a great meal, great drink, great atmosphere, great service, and a great night out, this is the perfect restaurant for you. I would eat their octopus and lamb chops everyday if I could. Dine in is best way to go but if you want take out, everything is well prepared and fresh. Also, if you are having a party, I highly suggest you use Sofia for catering as my family have had multiple parties where they were caterer. In the summer this is a popular place (read: make a reservation or sit in the bar area). Atmosphere is beautiful, lots of arches, tile, and a nice looking "tree" at the center of the bar stretching outward. Winter it is less crowded. This is where we noticed the bar is not well-separated from the dining area, as the NFL playoffs were on and our dinner was interrupted rather often with cheers or boos from the bar-crowd. Service was attentive. If there was one complaint, it was that sometimes they cleared our places too soon - taking away appetizer plates, generally a sure sign dinner is coming right out, only to have us waiting about 10 minutes with nothing, not even bread (we had to ask for more). We started with a Greek salad for two - surprisingly just OK, feta was not as good as usual and there was exactly one stuffed grape leaf. Bread was fine, crusty and moist, served with pats of butter. Olive oil would have been nice. One of us got the crab cakes and was a proud member of the clean-your-plate club. All crab, tatsy, no filler, broiled to perfection. One of us ordred the filet mignon and asked it be butterflied as she is particular with her well-done-ness. It came out un-butterflied and underdone for her taste, with the waiter relaying that the chef refused to butterfly and said he could get it done her way without cutting the meat. *sigh* She was going to live with it but the waiter insisted on bringing it back to be re-cooked. As she feared, what came out next were little dried out hunks of chewy meat with some bernaise sauce to 'rescue' it. Clearly, not pleased. Surprisingly, when she shared it with the wait staff that this was disappointing, they made apologetic sounds but did not remove the meal from the menu. Side for both was a forgettable mashed potato. Dessert was good - one got the baklava and loved it, the other got the creme brulee which was also very good. Three stars for the filet mignon, the one stuffed grape leaf, the empty mid-meal table, and the forgettable potato. read more

We had a wonderful meal for 6 people over July 4th weekend. The service was attentive and friendly! We were greeted with a smile and all the specials of the day. Our order was taken and the food was quick to be served. All entrees were as ordered. Appetizers were the lamb, trio of dips, bacon and spanakopita. The bacon was the table favorite with the lamb and spanakopita / trio of dips. The entrees followed with the scallop special, seafood pasta, stuffed ravioli , steak all were a hit! Visited during Covid, and had an excellent experience. We came for my mother's birthday, and the staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating. We ordered the clams casino and calamari as appetizers, and they were fantastic. Everybody in our party of six loved their main course, as well. The outdoor dining area is nicely decorated, and allows you to see the sunset over the bay. High recommend. read more

Langoustines were amazing, Saganaki came out flaming and delicious, Traditional Clams Casino were flavorful and full, and the Lamb Osso Bucco was braised to perfection. Love the staff and decor. I was amazed at how big the restaurant was. The cool chandelier, fire places in the wall, paintings...I wish I had time to walk around and check it all out. The bar looked like a fun happening place to hang out. Hubby had lamb chops for first time and was very impressed. I came here for a rehearsal dinner for a wedding that I was in. The spot was so cute from the outside. It definitely makes you feel like you've been transported to the coast of Greece. They had reserved majority of the downstairs dining space for our event and it was a little tight, especially how they had arranged the food. However, I will say that everything was super delicious. They had many options and I was so full by the end of the night that I couldn't even tempt myself with the delicious desserts! The waitstaff was really attentive, always making sure that everyone that wanted a drink always had a full glass - good service in my book! I think upstairs would have been a better location for the event so, if you're interested in utilizing this place for an event, I would look into that option. I just don't think our size party would have fit up there. read more

I absolutely fell in love at Sofia's! I loved the decor, the drinks, and the food. Everything was absolutely incredible and they had so many gluten free options. After we were seated we ordered a bottle of wine and two martinis which were pretty good. After we received our drinks, we had a hard time figuring out what to order for our appetizer because everything sounded so delicious! We ordered a half dozen of oysters on the half shell, lollipop lamb chops, and a Mediterranean flatbread. The oysters were so fresh, the lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and my friends told me the flatbread was amazing! Now when it come to the main course, most of my party ordered their scallop special which everyone raved about. I ordered their Seafood Plaki which was amazing! The Sea Bass just melted in your mouth and I wanted more. Sofia's is a cute, unique, and authentic Greek restaurant that is a must see! If you are down the shore and want a nice meal out. Arrived and was seated immediately (wise to make a reservation ) Ordered cocktails, all perfect. Appetizers of calamari, fried to perfect and very tender. The flaming cheese just as you'd expect, a show at table side to be had. Then spanakopita delicious and tender yet crispy Entrees included a meat mixed grill which easily feed 2 or 3 and the filet, chicken and lamb chops were cooked as requested. The crab cakes were decent and the salmon was a nice portion but a little dry. The double cut lamb chop served with purée of butternut Squash was excellent and cooked as requested Now for dessert. OMG the Almond Joy Tartufo an ice cream dream. We also ordered a baklava , all split amongst the 6 of us the perfect end to the meal.
