Kure is a big chain that swooped in a took over many of the small practices in the area. With that said, I stayed on because the Physician's Assistant who has been with me for these 12 years stayed and she knows me best. Since this takeover, I have experienced much frustration. Let's just start with the fact that I have never met any of the doctors other then when I go in for a procedure. The first time I had a procedure scheduled, I was subjected to sales pitches for spinal cord stimulators before and after my procedure. I have since refused to schedule with that particular doctor. On many occasions, my prescriptions were messed up or denied and needed action from the staff. If you call the main number, you be immersed in to an endless maze of menus and people who will say they'll help you, but do nothing. I've had to physically walk in the office to get my issues resolved on numerous occasions! I've experienced last minute cancellations for procedures where I was off of certain meds for two weeks to prep. In addition, I've shown up at the locations I was supposed to have the procedure only to find out it was moved to another location without my consent. If it wasn't for my Physician's Assistant and the fact that she's AMAZING, I'd be gone. This company is all about the profit and pushing bodies through, not about the individual care.

Even though I have a VA prescribed Service Animal from an Internationally accepted accredited supplier, they decided that they would violate my rights under the ADA, publicly humiliate me, and refuse me treatment unless I submit to illegal questions, supply illegal information, and adhere to illegal restrictions on treatments. When I pointed out that they were acting outside of the law, instead of apologizing and moving on, they doubled, even tripled down. If I can not trust them to follow ADA, how can I trust them to follow other laws? If I can not trust them to admit an error, correct it, and move on, how can I trust them with my care? The answer is I can not.

I wasn't sure who I wanted to go to, so I've seen several doctors for both OB and GYN. During my recent OB visits, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Dr. Penn and Dr. Shuja. They are so thorough, answering all of my (many) questions during my first pregnancy and are always friendly and taking their time. I have not felt rushed by either of them at any time. I also have had Dr. Keith who I like as well. I don't love the hours, as I wish there were some longer hours to accommodate appointments outside of typical working hours but this is usually hard to find. My biggest complaint is that during COVID, they need to better communicate when their policy changes for visitors (during pregnancy appointments) as there have been times that my husband was allowed and he missed appointments or he took off work to come with me and then ended up not being allowed. It is essential that Chesapeake Women's Care finds a way to communicate this- through text, email, etc in appointment reminders with the policies constantly changing. The office staff is always friendly and helpful.
