It was a pleasure to buy a sofa bed from a company whose products are made locally in Northern California and customized to meet your needs. Usually such customization comes with a very high price tag but the prices are very reasonable at Sofas 4 Less. There is also an extensive style variety to choose from. But it was even more of a pleasure to work with Diana and Derek who remained professional and helpful when some problems occurred with our order. We felt listened to and the final outcome is a beautiful sleeper sofa that meets our needs and surpasses our expectations. We've always bought furniture from the well known retailers over the years - Macy's Breuners, Ethan Allen, Scandinavian Designs etc. We were shopping for a couch and almost signed a contract with Bassett over the Memorial Day weekend. However, due to the bad reviews, we opted not to return to sign an order. Surprised to find that yelpers liked SofasforLess in Martnez and now recently opened a second location in Antioch. A bit apprehensive at first, but was amazed how they followed through with our order without any hesitation. You probably would not get that kind of service from the large retailers. Once the sales person earns his commission, that's the end of his service and the customer now has to do all the grunt work to get their goods delivered. SofasforLess is a family owned business and they do pride themselves in delievering the couch you ordered (even customized) within a reasonable time frame and at a very reasonable price. All of the made to order sofas are manufactured locally which is a huge plus. You deal with one person or two (usually family members) and he/they follows through with your orders/changes and I could not have been happier with their services and delivering our couch within two weeks. When we bought a new home, we had a room SCREAMING for a sectional. After touring every furniture store in the greater south bay (we live in San Jose) we were visiting family in Brentwood, and decided to check yelp for more furniture stores. I'm SO glad we found Sofas for Less. Truly a NO PRESSURE sales style, which is just what we were looking for. Very helpful person working there, but we were free to wander, sit, and ask questions. We picked the arms, we picked the depth, we picked the fill, we picked the fabric, we picked the color, we picked the size... it's completely custom, and much less expensive than the "cheap" furniture stores. Remember that part about us living in San Jose, they delivered to the door, on our move in date, when all the other appliances and utilities were being delivered and installed, the timing was PERFECT! My husbands FAVORITE part are the throw pillows, which we were able to pick a different fabric, but have the welting match the couch... I think he's told anyone that has visited. ;) We've definitely referred people to the store, and we'll definitely be back when we're ready to work on more rooms that need sofas, love seats or chairs.... we'll probably get some extra pillows too. My husband and I just moved to the area and had to leave much of our furniture behind in Seattle. When we went into Sofas for Less, we had a fair idea of what we needed. Diane was so effusive and helpful from the moment we stepped in the door. We even came in at the end of store hours and she stayed past closing without hesitation and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We moved into our home a week later and went back to buy the furniture. Amazingly, Diane remembered everything we'd selected without even looking at her notes--impressive! Thankfully, she brought everything to us as we sat and looked and pondered. Her advice was right on target and we ended up buying a full sized couch, a chaise, and an ottoman made to order. The chaise was not on the showroom floor so we chose one based on Diane's recommendation. Mel helped us on the day the furniture arrived (a bit past the promised 4 weeks, but hey, it's custom). The 2-man delivery crew ($60) were friendly and so careful. We absolutely love our furniture. It all coordinates together beautifully without being the fated "matchy matchy." We were looking to purchase a big couch for our new home. We have guests over a lot and our old home lacked seating. After a recommendation by our Realtor, we went down to the Sofas for Less on Lone Tree Way in Antioch. The store has plenty of parking and is clean. They have tons of floor models and color samples, which made it easy to pick out what we wanted. Any arrangement you want, color, style etc they can do! We got our custom L-shaped sectional for $2300 in a honey micro fiber and we love it! It is made locally and we had it in a week! The last place we got furniture from took 6 weeks and isn't made here (ASHELY blah! ) Our Ashely couches did not come with a warranty and the warranty was a waste as when we really needed repairs they said they weren't covered. Mel, the store owner, is very easy to work with and even told us if there is ever any issue he will make it right. It was also refreshing that the staff did not freak out about my 4 and 6 year-old boys running around and testing all the couches. A lot of furniture stores are very snoody about bringing kids but Mel (a family man) understood! The quality of our couch is great and all of our family loves it! We need to buy more couches for other rooms in the house so we will definitely be returning to Sofas for Less! P.S. They also have financing and you don't have to put too much down to get your order started :) Delivery was an additional cost but you have the option of picking it up yourself. read more

Comfy, until you hit the sharp cornered feet! We've had our custom, 11 foot L shape sofa for about a year now and we love it. The pillows will lose their shape a bit over time, but you can unzip the covers and fluff them. Definitely makes for relaxed family time. The one warning I would give is just be careful swinging your feet underneath when standing up. Our model has square wooden feet with sharp, unforgiving corners, At 2 inches off the ground it's easy to hit them. If you swing and slam your foot or toe against a corner it will hurt!! My wife was in the lounge piece when I heard a loud "TCHOCK!" and looked over to see her face constricted in AGONY. I thought she smacked the wall or something, somehow. She had swung her feet over the side to stand up. The square sofa foot was right there at the edge and she hit it full force. She's icing her foot and hoping nothing's fractured. So much for being relaxed. Most sofas have round feet, perhaps for this reason. They ought to at least bevel them. I'd give 5 stars if they fixed this. read more

I'm not much of a yelper but for this place I'll definitely take the extra time to write a review. I'm so glad that my mom and I decided to check this place out. No pressure, reasonable prices, awesome selection of sofas, couches and sectionals, and most importantly, WONDERFUL customer service! Diego made sure that he was available for us to ask him any questions and at the same time, gave my mom and I our own time that we needed to think things through. I LOVE how almost everything is customizable.. it made it that much easier to choose the perfect couch. It was also very important that we received our couches within 2 weeks because we had guests coming over. Diego made sure that he kept us updated on when our couches would arrive and YES we got them wayy before we thought we would get them. The guys that delivered the couches in our area were also great. They're close friends of the family that owns Sofas 4 Less. My mom even tipped them a little extra because they were just so nice even after carrying our heavy couches in 94 degree weather. Phew, what a workout! I hope this family business sticks around for a very very long time. my life long dream... a sectional.. not just any sectional.. a sectional that was deep.. deep enough that I could fall deep inside and sleep till my hearts content. Never thought my dream would come true. Everything was perfect. the color was just right.. the cushions were so soft and the pillows were perfect. Even the legs were perfectly matched. It is the most perfect sofa I could ever imagine. We are so happy with the purchase. Mel initally helped us with the purchase but we talked to Diane and Diego and everyone was super helpful. Delivery was Excellent.. They give me a time frame 9am to 11am . My surveillance camera make a noise I look was them at 9am. Great customer service. Diego (I'm bad at remembering names so I hope that was it) helped us and I know he'll remember us because we were those people who had a child circus going on that day. One child was running from couch to couch while the other tried stopping her which then turned into a game of tag. After losing a few shoes, falling and getting a bloody tongue... it was time for the third one to have a major blow out. I mean, it was BAD!!! After 6 months of searching we thought we better try some where else, which brought us to Sofas for Less. At Sofas for Less we found a couch at an unbelievable price and a higher quality then the major retailers. So needless to say the next day we came back in (mind you we live in Richmond and drive all the way to Antioch just to place an order with them). So we bought a couch, chair, and ottoman which is exactly the style we wanted and color too, they gave a great price for all 3 items and told us delivery would be in 3 -4 weeks. My husband and I found ourselves in need of a new couch, and upon recommendation from a friend, went in to Sofas For Less. We were immediately greeted by the owner Mel, and was told about how they do business, i.e. pick the style you like, customize to your hearts desire, lifetime warranty, etc. It took us nearly an hour and a half to pick what we wanted, and Mel was there for us if we had a question or wanted some advise. He never hovered as many salespeople do, and was extremely patient and kind to us. Truly the best customer service around, for any type of retail store! Walked into Sofas For Less, after shopping around at other well known stores for a loveseat. Had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Derrick, who was very nice and helpful. I ordered my loveseat on July 20th, and Derrick told me that it would take three weeks to receive it. Low and behold I receive a phone call yesterday July 30, from Diego who tells me that my sofa is in and can be delivered. I was so excited and happy to hear that. He originally told me that the sofa would be delivered between 4-5 PM, but then the delivery guys were running a little behind. Diego called me and informed me that they were running late, and was so apologetic about it. The delivery guys were nice and efficient. My husband and I ended up getting a wonderful microfiber couch with chaise and we couldn't be happier. We also bought the coolest ottoman to go along with everything. Service is excellent. We ended up buying a floor sample and packing everything in the back of our own truck, but I just know if we had them deliver for us, everything would have arrived in excellent shape. This is the second time my husband and I have bought sofas from this store. Everyone is so helpful and nice without the pesky annoyance of the "need to sell so I can get my commision" attitude. Everyone we have come into contact with has always been top notch and willing to treat their customers as well as you would treat your own family. My husband and I heard about this store from our uncles who also had rave reviews so we went to check it out ourselves. We needed a sofa for our small 1 bedroom apartment in the city at the time. I am a HUGE stickler for super soft yet supportive sofas and there was not 1 store that satisfied that until we went to sofas for less. The 1st sofa that I saw I ran and bounced and it was HEAVEN. Softest sofa and most comfortable sofa I have ever sat on. I tell you, this is after having gone through 10 stores including the brand ones. Dianne was the first person we met and she was wonderful. Again, never felt the annoying pressure to buy. We ordered and in 2 weeks we got our sofa only to find out it didn't fit through the doorway of our apartment; Derek was super awesome working with my husband. The sofa we bought was already on the showroom so it wasn't custom so Derek re-measured and made the same sofa to the dimensions that would fit through the elevator and doorway at our complex and got it to us in less than 2 weeks. I couldn't rave about them more. Now, 1 year later, we have purchased a home and this place was the first place we went to straight away and they did not fail to meet my HIGH ;) demands. This time, I wanted a DEEP seated sofa and they met it without a wink. When could we get it by? 1 week! Love it! customized and all. Mel (the owner) was the one we met this time and again, great service. Will be getting my couch by friday! Ordered it just this last weekend. How awesome is that? After shopping around at so many different furniture stores, I was a little iffy about coming here, mostly because I didnt want to be let down again, like I was when i went to all the other big name furniture stores. But this place won me over. The selections they had were perfect for me, since I'm so picky. And the sales lady (i cant remember her name) was super sweet and knowledgable and not pushy. I found the perfect couch that I still am so in love with. It turned out exactly how I imagined. Its still new so it hasnt quite been broken into, the way I prefer. But my boyfriend sleeps great on it, when he passes out in the living room. I prefer big comfortable couches, which I know it will get there soon enough. We live in a one bedroom apartment and it is the perfect size for our little home. Its deep set, so when I sit all the way back my legs barely hang off the edge, I'm average height (5'4). And when I lay down and my dog cuddles up behind me, I'm still comfortable. Anyways like I said, its perfect. I can't wait till we move into a house some time next year, I will for sure be going back to get one of the sectionals that I fell in love with when we found our current couch. I previously rated a 2 star, for the reasons below, but after how great Mel treated me, I have to give more stars. From the get go, he listened to all that was wrong with the couch, came up with a plan to get everything that was wrong with the couch fixed in a timely manner. The guys that came to pick up my sectional were great, very respectful and efficient. It was great that Mel left me with 2 couches for us to use in the mean time. I just got my couch back today, and so far so good, the cushions seem much much better than they ever were, and all the seams have been fixed. Time will tell how everything holds up, but I'm hopeful things will be different this time around. I do feel confident that if anything else were to happen or go wrong, Mel would make it right, he believes in his product and company. Thank you Mel!! I've had a hard time liking our couch, I heard so many great things about this place, so we ordered a sectional, picked our fabric etc, I've had this couch for 2 years, and the seams have popped open on probably 8 of the cushions, if not more, I've already brought some cushions in to be repaired. I was without covers on multiple cushions for over a month because no one recorded our information to be able to let us know when our cushion covers came back in. I have at least 4 cushion covers that have popped open since then, but havent taken Them to get fixed because I dont want to be without covers for another month, also, a few of our cushions have thinned out so much I can feel springs or the wood beneath them. they never were as thick as the ones I sat on in the store. My best friend has the same couch as us and her cushions are 100% different than ours, they are much thicker, firmer, keep their shape, and the depth of her couch is even more than mine! One of my arm rests on my couch, I can even feel the wood through the fabric. I know you shouldnt have these kinds of problems 2 years in to having a couch that cost as much as this one did. The owner was great and helped us each time we came in (first time to check it out for prices, second time to order and the last to pick them up). I think we made everyone jealous when we told them that, yes, we got CUSTOM couches, made in the USA! My husband was working in Martinez and happened to wander into Sofas for Less and talk with Diego and Mel. He not only found several options for couches like might work, but they were also within our price range. Mel and Diego were professional and informative, but not at all pushy or obnoxious. We were able to find the perfect couch, through much indecisiveness, and were not pushed into a decision at all. Our couch arrived in less then 3 weeks with the special fabric we ordered (usually he can get custom couches in within a week). Unfortuntately, when our couch arrived, it was not the size we believed it would be. We immediately called Mel, expecting the typical himming and hawing we had received from other furniture salespeople. He was polite and eager to find a solution that would work for us. We were able to order another section of the couch to make it a more appropriate size. I could not be happier with our couch or with the service we received at Sofas for Less. Came across the store randomly on the web. The reviews aren't wrong. Great find. My wife and I had been searching for a sofa several months off and on, going to different showrooms (C2B, Ikea, Pottery Barn, independent stores in Berkeley and SF, etc). Wonderful family run store. Derek was patient, didn't pressure us, and just answered our questions straight-up and provided good suggestions as we deliberated. He even entertained our three year old who just wanted to run around. We wanted one of the couches, but my wife really wanted a style with three pillows instead of two. This wasn't normally done, but Derek was very accomodating and said he'd make it happen even though it tended to increase their costs. He charged us the same. I also ended up ordering an accompanying ottoman. It's also great to know they make the couches locally in California and not in some sweat-shop in Asia. The prices were VERY reasonable given this is custom built (you pick the style, fabric, color, even the firmness of the cushions). 2 weeks later, Derek called me up and said they finished it. They shipped it that day to my house. Love the couch. It even came with two extra pillows we weren't expecting. The ottoman had two dings on the base feet which probably occurred during the shipping. I called Sofa for Less just to leave a message at 7 pm, but Derek actually answered and, no questions asked, said he'd ship the new base feet I could simply screw on. One minute, literally, and the problem was solved. Definitely stop by their store (Antioch now - they were in the process of closing the Martinez store).
