I bought an old house and inherited a heating system I did not understand. it wouldn't get started. After calling, Lisa asked expert problem-solving questions, researched a resource online and then told me where to find it, and then offered to stay on the line while I tried. And IT WORKED! Problem solved, for only the cost of a "7" minute phone call! AMAZING! About 6 months after we bought our house, our main drainage pipe cracked. This wasn't unexpected as we knew the state of the pipes when we bought the house, but the timing was not great. We were having a huge house warming party that weekend. We called around to a few places, the first being our first plumber that hired in the area, but the job was too big for that small team. We called Soderlin as a hail mary and they responded so quickly. They came and looked at our pipes and gave us a temporary fix for the weekend, so we could stop walking to the gas station for our bathroom needs, and so they knew they had some time to get their team and supplies together. During thier fix of our main drainage pipe, they noted some other areas that needed attention. We knew we would have to replace all of the pipes eventually, so we asked Soderlin about timeline, price, and risk, and they were communicative, realistic and transparent. They ended up replacing almost all of the pipes in the house, as well as some underground, and we couldn't have been happier. An emergency down the road would have been more costly (we have a budget for house things so it was better to just do it) and Soderlin was in and out in a day. They were professional, clean, and kept us in the loop of the work they were doing. I would consult and hire Soderlin again in a heartbeat. I was quoted $350 for a new toilet install if I bought and provided the toilet. Several months later I had them come out to install and they wouldn't honor it. I was initially quoted $585 to install and the lowest they would go was $450. They had to replace the metal piece at the base of the toilet as well and when all was done it was $1,000 for a toilet install. crazy. I feel a bit like I was taken advantage of. read more

We had a leak in a pipe connected to the waste water from the kitchen sink. Jeff from Soderlin replaced the pipe (including a second area that was about to start leaking - good eye). He replaced the pipe quickly and effectively, threading it through the multiple odd pipes, wires and fuel lines criss-crossing the ceiling in our 1911-era house. Nice guy, too! We hired Soderlin Plumbing for our upstairs bathroom leak and repair. Our experience consisted of incompetent work, leaks, and attempting to bill us (twice) for work that was part of the original contract * Our new tub wasn't properly vented upon installation. * Upon removal of the old vanity the sink drain needed to be relocated. We had plumber Ken return to do. We created an access through the main floor living room ceiling to re-route the drain and join it up with another upstairs bathroom drainpipe. (Since this wasn't included in the original bid, we paid extra for this work.) * When scheduling the inspector, Ken told us to not let the inspector look at the tub drain (since it was a replacement there was no inspection needed on this work). He said it was done 'correctly' but keep the inspector looking at the sink drain and not the tub. * The inspector flagged the tub drain. * Ken returned to fix the issue and presented us with a $1,200 bill to fix what he didn't do right. * My husband and I patched our living room ceiling and applied a labor-intensive Italian Carerra finish. * Soon afterward the living room ceiling began leaking at the joint where the 2 drains came together. * We fired Ken and had another plumber from Soderlin come out. Three holes were opened in the newly finished ceiling and was determined the ring around the joint wasn't tight enough. * Immediately the blame game started saying it was the contractor (who did the ceiling) that caused the joint to leak. * My husband and I did the work and didn't shove a 2x4 (that ran the length of the ceiling) under the pipe. The 2x4 in question had been there for years. * Jason in management insisted someone else caused the issue and refused to come and look at the 2x4 that was removed. He stood by his plumber Ken (who was the one who did a shoddy job on the tub ventilation and told us to not let an inspector look in that direction.) * We put this debate on the back burner and asked Jeff to come and finish our bathroom. The toilet, sink, and fixtures needed to be installed (the price of the toilet and installing the sink and fixtures was all included in the original bid.) * When Jeff put the fixtures on the tub and tested it, there was water on our living room floor. He had put an O-ring on incorrectly. * Jeff insisted we needed to pay $1139 for a new toilet and installation. He refused to look at the original paperwork showing the toilet and installation of sink and fixtures was included. * Jeff wouldn't leave our property without a credit card number to pay a bill we didn't owe. read more

The plumber who came to install a gas stove did not have to put in a shut off valve because one already existed. He just had to take off a flexible connector and put in a new one and connected it to the stove. His told us the charge would be $364 plus $100 for a permit. We needed the stove hooked up so we went ahead but the cost seemed way too high for 1/2 hour worth of work. read more

Called for their "Free" hot water heating inspection. Wasn't home when they came, wife was convinced to get the hot water heater with 20 yr warranty for $3400 total. I also have a solar hot water heater as backup, the plumber thought those pipes were connected wrong so rerouted them. After a couple calls trying to explain what they incorrectly did, they sent the same guy out, and when he realized his mistake offered to reroute it the way they were and replace the part he removed -- and said "But this will void your warranty". Water heater corroded from inside and sprung a leak on Tuesday afternoon. Jeff from Soderlin came at 7:30 am Wednesday and got a new one installed for us. We use a side arm water heater system that works with our boiler. It was not inexpensive (these things never are), but Jeff was extremely professional and great to work with. He was respectful of our home and his work was efficient and tidy. Jeff made sure that our water heater and boiler were working in top shape before leaving. The day we sold our house, the water heater went out. Norblomb couldn't make it out for several days and since there was an open house that weekend. Since we'd be gone, we needed someone over there asap as the heater was leaking. Soderlin was there within two hours, earlier than they quoted us, and had a top of the line water heater on the truck. In an hour and a half, our old heater was gone and our new one was up and running beautifully. Rich was very sweet and fun with our girls, as he too has daughters and a granddaughter on the way (though he looked way too young to be a gramps!) Perhaps it wasn't the cheapest. I'm not sure. Had them out to look at a forced air furnace and they red tagged it telling us the carbon monoxide reading was high and that the heat exchanger was bad. They never showed us a readout. They never opened the back of the furnace and verified that the heat exchanger was bad. They told us the furnace was from 1986 so we believed them and signed on for a new install. They quoted us $4,100 for a new furnace and said they could install quickly. We found our manuals and verified the age of the furnace. We cancelled and got another company to look at the furnace. The heat exchanger is not bad. The furnace is a 2003 model making it a little 15 years old and still viable. The readout from the new company for CO was below 30. What was wrong was a bad gas valve which was replaced and now the furnace is fully operational. read more

My daughter was taken advantage of. I bought a new garbage disposal at Home Depot and needed it installed. After having removed the old disposal, and two drain lines I had my daughter call SODERLIN PLUMBING. My daughter sent me the bill: Service call = $57, Install new Disposal = $268. The SODERLIN tells me after the installation that even though it only took the one hour for the total the call , they charge by the job,. and $268 is what they charge plus a service call charge of $57 for showing up. $325 total plus $130 = $455 total for the disposal. Home Depot would have installed their own disposal for under $210. You cannot afford SODERLIN's prices or their so so service. read more

CON MEN! I called Soderlin when by boiler was not heating. I paid $89 in advance to arrange for the tech. to visit. The technician quoted me $600 minimum fee and admitted the repair could take as little as 30 min. I would be liable if any labor or material would exceed $600. After flailing away in my boiler room for 20 minutes the guy tells me the entire boiler needs to be replaced and he quoted $10,000 for the work. I had a issue with a slight gas leak over the weekend on one of my rental properties. Called these guys to come fix it. They charged me almost $250 for a trip charge which i was ok with since it was a weekend but was shocked to find out that it was just for them to stop over at the place and not to do anything. They bid the job 3 times more than what it would have costed. When asked why........all the guy had to say was "Its the Weekend". Wish they would told me from the beginning that the$250 was for nothing but to show up to the house. The guy was extremely rude and unprofessional. Felt robbed by these guys in the middle of the day. Would never recommend or work with these guys. Paid almost $1,300 for something that would have costed 1/3 and got shitty service and attitude in return. They were one company I was checking out to do the fire inspection certification of my 4 boilers in my 4-plex. I had three 65 year old boilers and they said there was no way they would pass and tried to sell me three new ones. I checked the reviews here and one recommended Burnomatic and I used them. All the boilers passed with flying colors and Burnomatic said I'd never have to replace those old boilers, all the parts had new replacements. And Burnomatic was half the price for certification of all the others. read more

I took an unwanted cold shower on a Sunday, my 5 year old hot water heater wasn't working. I tried to trouble shoot on my own, but after 3 hours decided it needed professional help. I had looked up the part that wasn't working at it was $375 wholesale on the Internet. Reluctantly I called Soderlin who I had used many years ago. I called about 9:30 on a Monday morning and they came out by 11:30 that day. The guy looked at the HWH, called someone and told me it was all under warranty. Yippee! I was quoted $350 for the call and labor. It took over 3 hours of work for him and two trips to get parts, plus he had to return the broken parts to get warranty coverage, but the quoted price didn't change and he was very personable and walked me through what he did and the documentation he made on the new parts. It was a great ending to a major bummer for me. I recommend Soderlin for any plumbing needs. read more

I had Soderlin tune up my furnace for the winter. The furnace had run fine for years. Suddenly, this year, it stopped working. I'm not sure if it was something they did or not, but when I got estimates to replace the furnace, their estimate was $5,000 higher than the guys I went with. Beware! Very high prices. Although they were very nice and prompt, I cannot recommend them when they price gouge. read more
