The worst Social Security office experience I've ever had!! After going through security and checking in at the kiosk and waiting an hour to be called was told I needed an appointment. So after waiting one hour to be told, I need an appointment. That's bullshit!!! The only thing they could help me do was make an appointment! They stated that there were multiple signs posted, but the signs don't say appointment required!! and when I filled out the online application never once did it say I needed an appointment. Had they posted a sign on the door, I and so many others wouldn't have wasted 1.5 hrs just to be told to call to make an appt. Had I checked Yelp prior to my visit, sure I would've known. But I'm not going to a restaurant. Also, it appears they don't know "first come first serve" is a common sense as they started helping people who were in the middle of the line. Sadly, after my mom passed away, she left us with a lot of unfinished business and questions that impacted my dad. We needed Social Security to give us help on a few things we didn't understand and what to do next concerning her death. At first, most SS offices were strangely still closed due to Covid, even though most businesses were open again for several months now. I attempted to try online, but, all I got was confusion and error messages that was so frustrating! Calling the main office was even more disheartening. After having to wait a very long time on hold, I received a frosty attitude, that made me hesitant to not want to call ever again! We had several questions and paperwork that needed face to face information that resulted in additional questions. Not something that can be briefly helped over the phone! When this Social Security office finally opened again, we were relieved to be able to actually enter the building and speak to friendly, knowledgeable representatives. Who gave us the help we needed and assistance on how to fill out the appropriate forms. All in all, our complicated situation went smoother than expected and now the family has peace of mind, so we can move on to the many other official documents that have to be dealt with when a loved one passes away.....Never did I ever realize how much of a heart breaking death in the family would also cause such a toll on the survivors! read more

I've visited this location twice now. When my dad passed away at the end of last year I needed to report his passing so I took a drive and walked in without an appointment. The location took a while for me to find and I drove for a while around the center because it's located at the very back side of the shopping center and then I had to take a left turn. I checked in at the kiosk and waited till my number was called. The agent was very helpful and took care of the paperwork needed. He also answered all of my questions and I never felt rushed along even though there were many others waiting for their turn. I appreciated the time not being rushed and for making a challenging and sad event easier to complete. There's a Target and a number of other stores in the same business center so I was able to get some house supplies before driving back home. I'll surely return here for any future needs including my much anticipated retirement in 4 years! read more

Had to come here to renew our SSC, encase anyone needs a new SSC, make sure to go to the back parking lot and building, when you walk in you have to go through the security check and then go check-in at the kiosk and then sit and wait for your number to be called. The building is new and very lovely, a lot larger then it seems and pretty similar and easy processes. read more

Ever misplaced your card? Come here. I read that the other location (40 Massie Ct.) doesn't replace cards. When you drive in the lot. Look for the sign that says,"CARD SERVICES." You have to park in back of the building. Don't get distracted by the line forming in front of building. I did. I got in the line and was told card services are in back. When entering there's a security check. Take off hat, belt, empty pockets, and mobile phone. Pocket knives/utility knives are a NO. Leave in car if you do carry these. If you are a caregiver or a family member assisting your elderly client/family member. You will still need to enter your info on the kiosk. Once you get your number. Grab the form, fill form, have your identification ready and get in the line where you see the stanchions. In and out 45 minutes. read more

Wow! Was I impressed with service here! Went in a few weeks ago to change my name, get new social security card after getting married. Please remember that for social security cards, go into the back side of the building for assistance. There is private security when you walk in so be prepared to take of shoes, get items checked, etc. When you walk in, there is a computer monitor in the front where you "check yourself in". You'll get a number and depending on how busy it is, the system will inform you as to what window you'll need to go to. I was literally in and out in about 15 minutes. I checked in, waited (read and played WWF on my phone) and was called up to the window. The guy behind the window was very quick and helpful. Wow, I wish all businesses were this fast and efficient! I still can't believe that I am actually giving out a 5 star rating to a 'governmental' body of business here...... BUT before I do I will say that what I did dislike is that their hours of operation at least for me were impossible to locate AND the phone number listed here on their Yelp listing does not work; meaning when you call it it states it is a non working number AND I couldn't locate a working number on Google which was a tad frustrating so I took my chances and showed up at around 8:20am and proceeded to stand in line until 9am when they open the doors. AND now a note: There are two separate ways into this compound. #1 is through the front door where they handle social security issues such as disability claims and the like. Door #2 is on the left side of the same building and is for issues such as social security cards and name & address changes. I would learn this after standing in line at door #1 until they opened at 9 redirecting those of us who should have been standing at door #2 onward to door #2. Leaving that irritation behind me once INSIDE of the compound and after clearing security and checking into their uber nifty & time saving kiosk which issued me my B92 number, I barely sat down when less than 4 minutes later my number was called. THE MISSION: To get my beloved maiden name back after receiving the needed docs to finally do that, get a new SS card AND change my physical address on file. ALL 3 items completed WITHIN 5 minutes. I was stunned in the most wonderful way of course and on my way out. Nothing like a divorce to bring a person up to speed on the 'rules' of governmental offices and I'm a bit of an expert now Soooooo having said that if I would have known what a trip to the bowels of hell and back it would be to get my birth name back I would have kept it to begin with..... but yet I digress..... Learned that they will issue for FREE up to 10 replacement/changed SS cards to a person over their lifetime. Wasn't aware of this either. And lastly a heads up on weapons or anything that could be considered one. Leave that shit in the car so you don't loose your place in line. Now my lil 007 pocket knife that I wear pretty much 24/7 I already thought of BUT my two canisters of pepper spray, tweezers and multiple surgical scissors and clamps that I drag around in my purse for those "just in case" medical urgency's well I didn't think of that. Interesting though that I was the only person out of that damn line who had to head back to their car... wonder what that means.... All in all a very pleasant experience and it was refreshing to see my tax dollars at work and working efficiently, timely and effectively. Final Grade: A read more

We recently sent all of our information to this office to obtain a new social security card for my wife. Included was a valid passport (mandatory) along with a marriage certificate. We got the social card in the mail but did not recieve the passport and marriage certificate. They both have been lost. We have a trip planned out of the country in 30 days. They have been no help. They have no process to track the passport or communicate where it might be. We have 15 people now in jeopardy of making the trip due to 1 lost passport. Exceptional service! I came here to request a name change for my social security card and the service provided was quick and easy. I walked in on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty vacant with about two people waiting to be helped. You are to check in at a self service kiosk (rather than with a person like most government service providers) and wait patiently until your number is called. I literally took a seat for less than two minutes and my number was called!! I was sooo thrilled! The women who helped me was very friendly and sociable. I could vaguely understand what she was saying due to her thick accent, but I managed to get my business taken care of, lol. This building is one of the newer SSA buildings built, it is very sanitary and well maintained. For any service needed, I recommend coming to this location! I arrived at 1pm on a Thursday to complete my name change. I had completed the application online prior to arrival so the process would run more smoothly. If you don't fill out the application online, they will have you complete a paper application in person. From beginning to end (passing security, checking into kiosk, checking in with an employee, and completing my name change with another employee) the whole process took about an hour and 15 minutes. The organization itself is not bad for a governmental agency where you would expect to wait much longer. During my experience, there were several frustrated customers disappointed for various reasons, which resulted in them yelling at employees. You could tell the employees are burnt out. Props to the employees for putting up with the conditions they were given, working short staffed is never ever fun! read more

I was very nervous about how long it would take to get a replacement card but was very pleasantly surprised. If you need a replacement card you are directed to go to the rear of the building. I arrived about 10 minutes before they opened and there was a line of about 20 or so. You are let in 2 at a time by the security guard. Once inside you have to go through a metal detector and the guard will go throughly through your purse. Once you get through security you enter your info on the touch screen to obtain your number to be seen. I waited for about 10 minutes then was called to the window. Can't remember the name of the gentleman who helped me but he was great and appreciated his great customer service. Total time spent about 40 minutes. Like many other married women have mentioned below it is a breeze to change your legal name here. I made an appointment and the wait was not very long at all. Everyone who worked at this facility treated me kindly from the guards at the metal detectors to the man behind the window who processed my new card. The new card came in the mail right away which was also nice. I would highly recommend making an appointment since people who did not appeared to be waiting a long time and getting frustrated. I heard one women exclaim, "this is NOT worth my time!" and just leave.. kind of funny. The one downside of this place is that even though they have quite a large parking lot it was still completely full at the time of my 10:30 appointment. It was one of those situations where you have to follow someone leaving to their spot and then wait with your blinker on in order to park once they pull out. Of course when I did this an elderly lady walked into the spot I had waited 5 minutes for and motioned for her husband (in a car across the parking lot) to come take it. I shrugged at her and after waiting a minute began slowly pulling into the spot until she left. Super rude.. but it wasn't the staff at least. read more

It is not just this office, specifically, but every single office I have spoken to and every phone call I have made for all of last year (2023). I have fought for an entire year and all of January 2024, so far, to get survivors benefits reinstated (my husband passed away almost 3 years ago) due to a single form sent to me that I never received. So, starting in January 2023, I have been calling, going in, and sending in copies of the missing form that I have been told the office cannot provide to me yet I printed off the internet and filled out and sent in. I am told over and over that the form has not been received and that financial department has no phone line and cannot be contacted except through emails. Over and over I am told to give the office another 15, 30, or 45 days. Depending on whom I speak with that day. I am now having to file a Congressional just to get the benefits I am owed for my spouse dying!!! As if it is not hard enough having to deal with his death!! Hopefully, a congressional will get things rolling again and get my benefits back on track and get the back pay I am owed for 2023, and probably for January 2024. read more

I've been dealing with the IRS trying to get an ITIN for the past 6 months. The IRS ITIN department even rejected an application and supporting documents that was submitted, verified, and authenticated by an IRS agent... So sufficed to say the staff there is beyond incompetent. The SSA may have long lines, but based on the constant reminder to have your forms filled out and the use of proper documents, I can't help but to think it's not due to staffing issues. We got there, waited about an hour and was done after only a few minutes with the SSA agent... Something the IRS struggled with for over 6 months and countless hours of in person council and phone calls. So thank you for being more organized and competent than the IRS. My wife, son, and I went three times to get his social security card. If it was not one thing it was another. He was born at home and had a midwife letter and a surgeon's letter stating that she had seen him and has done a procedure on him. Apparently they didn't like how the letters were formatted on one occasion and on another wanted more information than what was previously stated. It felt like a rat race. One trip, the lady clerk didn't even know what a midwife was and seemed incompetent about the entire process. I get the need for security, I do, but I felt discriminated against, in California, as this clerk last saw two women's names on the birth certificate and she immediately picked up her phone, pressed a button and said, "Security One." The whole thing was crazy, like I wouldn't see or hear her, or maybe they're hoping no one will say anything about their mistreatment. We finally got our son his social security card, but it's crazy that first, they asked for both parents names. No problem we have it, us! But on the midwifery note, what if it were a single mom or did IVF, had a donor? Also, they wanted a doctor's note - which I get to legitimize the birth, but we had a surgeons letter of an appointment and they tried to say a surgeon isn't a doctor, because it wasn't a doctor from a hospital. This MD has her own practice for crying out loud! I also thought what if we were Christian Scientists and didn't believe in modern medicine? Would we have been as shunned as we were for being LGBT? It was all just far out there and completely unreasonable due to the fact that we were two women with a child and we decided to deliver him in the security of our own home. We had legitimate letters and birthed certificate, but even so one man called to verify our birth certificate was real. I hope others have a better experience. read more

If I were to give a review about the people who visit this establishment (outside of myself, obviously, haha) I would be generous in giving it one star. But man, this location has the process down pat. Yes, they have a TSA-like area you must pass through before getting a replacement card, but ya know what? It's there for your protection. I'm still reeling over the woman who spent the entire time she was there complaining about how she felt 'violated' that her purse was checked. First of all, if you don't have anything to hide then who cares? Secondly, there have been incidents in the past of a bunch of yahoo's bringing guns and such into institutions such as this. God forbid someone actually try to protect you! But I digress... Like I said, the place is clean and orderly. From the moment that I arrived, the guard came outside and greeted everyone with a smile, humor, and a few important rules, which made us laugh. We had to go in two at a time to ensure the building remained safe (safety first!). I registered on the computer and then waited for my number to be called. About twenty minutes later, the lady named Ruby, greeted me with a lovely smile, polite and professional demeanor, and respect. We discussed what I needed to complete my renewal, and I left and brought back what she asked. She assisted me again and completed my paperwork within 20 minutes.
