This office was nicer than I expected. First of all, it is conveniently located on Arden Way by Fulton Blvd., and it has its own private, free parking. When you first arrive, you are subjected to a security search. I had to empty my pockets, and the security guard ran a magnetic wand through my entire body and shoes. It's a Federal building after all. I went on a Tuesday around 10 a.m. without an appointment since I was having an issue completing an online application. After about 30 minutes, I was able to get an appointment and plenty of information to get my application completed. Way better than the DMV. read more

The staff is super friendly, but that's the only.good thing I can say. Overtime is appeal and issue my appeal get lost and they tell me to refill. I filed 3 separate appeals for.the.same issue and have got nowhere. .they really are frustrating to deal with as ND they don't give a.damn about me. It's sad. read more

The whole local government in California is trash. I have a disability ( TBI). I was in a coma for 6 months 10/9/10-4/9/11). I laid in a hospital bed and rotted for half a year! I went to be evaluated to get back on disability after losing my job due to my disability. I was asked some double digit addition questions and I assume I was correct, because I'm suddenly not disabled.... Then I went to my doctor to get him to write a letter that supersedes the misdiagnosis by the person from social security. Once I told him according to social security I'm apparently not disabled he disagreed and wrote me a lengthy letter citing my many deficiencies as the need for disability because of my coma. How is social security going to give disability to people who don't need it, then when a legitimate disabled adult comes to your office, you deny him? read more

unbelievable experience in this place, I wish you never have to deal with this place. One security staff treats you very rudely even when answering simple question, you can spend hours in there waiting and never get to get to the window, if you call you stay hours on hold and no one pick the phone, I tried that in three days in the row each time more than an hour waiting. worst yet, some one like me in the risk of having my entire health insurance paused because of waiting to obtain my medicare papers where I applied more than two month ago, and went to this office met in person with an employee to verify eligibility for the application been there for ever, assured me my application was approved and sent out in mail to your address. four weeks later, got hold of him and told him nothing came in mail as you told me, he apologies and said sorry I gave your file to another colleague but I will let her know, and you can rest an assure is getting done right away, been ten days since this conversation. I even tried to get an SS benefit estimate, they promised it was mailed as well and I never seen it in mail since, went online to request and apply, the site freezes this feature for me, why? because I still have another application under review. Can any one advise me what else I can do so I won't lose my health coverage that I have now? read more

Terrible place to come let me start by the way the security staff treats you rudely I experienced it myself a bit but witnessed it worse sitting here for 1 1/2 hours SO FAR! Only a few windows open to help people but room is full. I tried to call to make appt but couldn't even get on hold they just kick you off. All I wanted to do was change my name I did the online application already and just need to show marriage license and the kiosk they have you get your number from has large numbers that everyone can see your social security number being put in. I finally made it out after getting here shortly before they opened and now almost 2 hours later. I'd probably go to another location if you have to come here for any reason. read more

The clerk behind the counter was extremely friendly. HOWEVER, the guards are illegally forcing themselves to go inside personal bags. Their demeanor and total disregard to the law is a detriment to this office. The police were called and one of the guards made a false report indicating I wouldn't allow them to search my items. No! I WOULD allow them, just not in the manner they wanted to. FYI, there were NO signs upon entering regarding bag check or other security check, no signs to indicate which side of the door should be used, and a guard can only legally go inside someone's belongings with permission. I did not want their hands in my personal belongings so I suggested to remove my belongings MYSELF, open everything if needed, and place them back MYSELF...but, no...their power trip had to foolishly and illegally force them to invade me. Though I appreciate the protection they provide, the way they are attempting to go about it is wrong. Also, when calling in, reps refuse to provide their name so constituents can have a way of indicating WHO they spoke with if needed. I think there needs to be extra training provided and a revamping of their policy as well. Lastly, the officer who came out was cool, understood my rights and that everything he was told was blown out of proportion and given slightly in the wrong context. If you truly desire to check bags, you should get a bag screening machine OR allow people who do NOT want your hands all up in their belongings, to simply get everything out THEMSELVES! ALSO, FYI, IT IS *NOT* ILLEGAL TO RECORD IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND IN A PUBLIC SPACE! Turns out, the guards are not direct government employees but are contracted with the government to work there. Regardless, they are still working in the scope of their job duties as an extension to the government agency that has employed them to work there. read more

After waiting for over 1 hour to get a live agent - I was given the wrong fax number to fax documents - complete incompetence!

My hearing for over-payment (there wasn't any) was postponed indefinitely after THEY lost THEIR exhibit list. This is after waiting FIVE years for a hearing. They paid (with our tax dollars) over $200 for me to UPS overnight them my copy. I wrote the judge to object to the delay, but they would not give him the letter. Horrible service. I have a family member who needs to add a child to his SSDI account, he goes there and is told that he has to have a specialist take care of that and they give him an appointment a month out, he shows up 10 minutes late and they won't see him and give him another appointment 5 weeks out. When he lived in another county SS didn't need a "specialist" to take care of this very routine transaction funny how it's required in this office. These people are just off the hook and make up their own rules as they go along. read more

Pretty sure they have the greatest security duo in the country! Be sure to arrive a half hour early prior to opening if you want to get through quickly. Clear your pockets as security uses a magnetometer and checks bags. If you're getting an SS card or changing your name, go to the card center on Folsom Blvd. The representatives are very polite and knowledgeable and offer an absorbent amount of information about many topics. If you need to do something with social security or just want to meet some new friends then come to this branch. No one puts the fun in social security like Arden way! read more

This Social Security office is off Arden Way , near Fulton Ave. the Security Guards a real nice and helpful, the office staff is great too. You can't get a Social Security card here , just benefits. They close early on Wednesday at 12:00. You can make an appointment for certain things, 1-855-782-9153. read more
