Someone was very helpful to me over the phone, and I got the documents I needed much more quickly than I anticipated.

Since it is Boston, parking was scarce and it was a hassle (the parking lot they do have is for employees only). After a couple minutes of driving around, I found side street parking and walked about 3 minutes. The inside of the library is modern, clean, and bright; they have a lot of overhead lights but the large windows let in a lot of the natural sunlight. I liked that they had a couple tables and some seats along the windows looking out. I sat at one of the comfy chairs in this area. I didn't do much exploring but the main desk with librarians was at the center of the library; very convenient and central location. The downside of the open floor plan was that it wasn't the quietest library, but it also wasn't difficult to concentrate. They had a decent amount of books. I think it is only one floor only. It is handicapped accessible since the entrance is one long and wide corridor and the space between book shelves does seem wide enough. They do close early--6 pm on a weekday--compared to my library back home. Based on the number of kids I heard and see walk in with their guardians, I assume they have a lot of kid friendly activities or at least an area for kids.

It was on the smaller side but offered plenty of activities for people. Most people left their…read morestrollers in one area by the bathrooms so they could walk around unencumbered. I was a little warm inside the place so we didn't stay long.

I wouldn't want to be in that area without a direct line to 911. I could understand T-Mobile Sidekicks, but REALLY! And they have no storage for cellphones -- I had to walk all the way back to Forest Hills and convince a convenience store clerk to hold it behind the counter. Even "The Price is Right" studios in Los Angeles holds onto your phones if you bring them into complex! The metal detectors were first-rate, and the x-ray machine was extremely accurate, but I would have preferred some of the people taking a second stroll through the machines. :( The court clerk was very pleasant, and dismissed my parking ticket within 30 seconds. I better NOT have to go here again.

This is my story about my encounter with a Hyde Park traffic cop…read more Warning : Rant Alert. I've lived in Hyde Park for over 12 years without a single traffic citation. But my luck ran out in June 2014 when I decided to pass a traffic officer that was driving BELOW the speed limit. Around 25 mph. I passed him and was subsequently pulled over. I thought I was in a dream state. I thought to myself "No way he can pull me over for doing 35mph on Hyde Park Ave" But I was wrong. The cop asked us why we had the audacity to pass him. It was as if his ego was hurt due to my passing of him at 35 mph. After waiting 15 agonizing minutes while he was searching my records he hands me a warning and said "Don't pass me next time". I sheepishly agreed and said " Thank you. Sir!" Although I did not receive a fine. I am irate at these cops harassing law abiding citizens to justify their jobs, protect their egos, and meet there end of month quotas. It is time for law enforcement to be held accountable to the people that they work for. We need to keep them in line and communicate any injustice we experience because of them however small or large. They should be working in our best interests. We should not have to beg for their mercy every time we encounter them. I am asking everyone to speak up. Critically Review your local police departments. We live in an age of connectivity. Let's use it too everyone's benefit. Thanks for reading! P.S. Rules of driving on Hyde Park Ave: You can drive 40 mph 95% of the time. But slow down on weekends and whenever the weather is beautiful (clear skies, no precip). The local traffic cops don't like to work when it's not nice out. Also, as you may already have learnt from my rant. DO NOT PASS A TRAFFIC COP CRUISER. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE.
