Went on Friday the 20th at around 8-9am, was a pretty fast service in and out in an hour and the lady I dealt with was very nice! The one thing that annoyed me was the 'security guard' who was constantly rude throughout my time there! He was shouting at people to keep quiet, being rude and disrespectful with a constant attitude trying to be authoritative. His attitude stinks, he's paid to be a guard not to treat everyone there like garbage! Fortunately I didn't have to deal with him myself, but I had to witness the way he spoke with everyone else and I was shocked. Fire the guard and you'd have the best office in the world. If you live in central Florida and need to get a new card this is your only option. Bite the bullet and wait in line like everyone else. It does not matter what time you come, you will likely wait anywhere from 1-3 before you are seen. They do not accept appointments. You will not receive the actual card day of. You will get a letter stating the change and a new card arrives via mail. I waited outside for about an hour before I even entered the building to receive a number that marks my official place in line. The office closes at 4 p.m. and I was called at 5 minutes till. I do not know what happens if your number falls after that time... Once I was seen it was easy enough. Be prepared. Have your papers filled out and related documents ready to go. Went in on a Friday morning around 8:40. The line was long. Make sure you go to suite 102 if you need a name change or replacement on your social security card. By 8:50 they started letting 10 people in at a time. Around 9:10 I was inside the air conditioned building and went to the kiosk to get a number. If you are a U.S. citizen you sit on the right in the express line after you get a number. It actually goes fast! I was seen at 9:30 and out by 9:35. For a change of name due to marriage all I needed was ID, marriage certificate and the SS5 application found online. I would definitely fill this application out at home so you do not need to worry about doing so when you arrive. The two security guards on duty, one male and one female, were very nice. I noticed they answered people's questions when they walked up to them and they were smiling and extremely friendly. The entire process was smooth and the 50 minutes I was there flew by. read more

Honestly, I was so hesitant about going to the SS office because of the reviews I read but it was so quick and easy. Got there at 8:30am they open at 9:00am, officer/staff are handing out forms if you didn't fill them out in advance. If you have your form and your documents ready to go it's so quick. Do not believe everything you read! My clerk at window #17 was sweet and straight to the point. I was out of the office within 10 minutes. I must say that I was completely impressed by how fast and efficient they were. I was in an out in less than an hour with no appointment. I walked in on a Tuesday at 215pm, I was out the door by 3pm. Also, there are two separate offices for social security purposes within the one plaza style building. Arrived 2:30 pm on a Tuesday to deliver documents for an application. Quickly got a numbered ticket at door. Plenty of parking spaces and seats to wait for service. Clean, fairly quiet, friendly space that allowed for catching up on to do list and news, social media, reading... Decided to take advantage of the long indoor hallway to do some brisk walking. It's 120 steps long, so I did my 1/2 hour of brisk walking back and forth, and was then called for service. All in all o was there for a touch over an hour. My experience here was much like any other when trying to deal with goverment bureaucracy, less than impressed. I had lost my SS card and needed a replacement. So you drive over here with your credentials and wait in a crowded room for a long time, while un motivated, over paid government workers impress you with their lack of concern for your time. They open at 9am and definitely plan to arrive to earlier before they actually open. People normally stand in line outside before it opens and they go by ticket number. So the closest you are in front of the line the faster you'll get serviced. Make sure you have all necessary documents for what you're there for otherwise they will turn you away. If you have everything they need, the process will be fast. Expect to wait longer in line than to get your documents processed. Service there is straight forward. If you're not sure you have everything you need, best to call instead of having to stand in line and then wait to ask someone to only get turned away if you don't have everything they need. read more

Literally the worst people on the planet work at this place. 2 hour + waits and zero helpfulness. Showed up at 10:30 am and waited until 12:00 pm to see someone, she told me there was an error on their side and to come back with another document that I wasn't told to bring in the first place. She said she would be back after lunch and I could come right up to her. I come back when she tells me and I wait....and wait... and after about 30 minutes I ask the guard where she is, he says he doesn't know who or where she is, and to just wait at her window. Another 15 minutes passes and I ask the guy working next to her window. He said "She's gone for the day". Desperately, I begged him to help me and explained that the error is not on my part but the SSA's and I've done everything I can to help them and he said, with an attitude, "The way you can help me is by taking a number and waiting in line". I went to this location to change my name since I recently got married. They open at 8:30AM, so I got there at 7:45AM and was one of the first 10 people in line. By the time they opened, there were at least 30 people waiting. I had my application completed before I got there & had every document that they could possibly need. The security guard came out around 8:20AM to give everyone in line the applications that needed one so they could get started. At 8:30AM, they let us in to get a number. I was in and out in probably 15 minutes once the doors opened. Yeah, lines can be long, so get there early and have everything you need. I was expecting a nightmare, but it was painless. read more

Like most government offices they are not the peak of efficiency until around 2:30pm (closing time at 3). One thing I did like was that the manager had from time to time opened up one window to review the applications and check the documents people had to file their forms. I imagine that could save a great deal of heartache and grief by sitting around for hours only to find that you do not have the right forms or documents to support them. Given the chance the best bet would be to make an appointment for your business in advance. They handled my case in a quick manner once I was seated. read more

Regardless of the time of day you come expect to wait for a parking spot and expect to wait in line to get into the building and expect to wait to be called up. All in all, expect a wait. The office opens at 9am. I arrived at 8:30am and there was already a long line at the door and no parking spaces. Parking is limited for the capacity of the building. Take note of the two entrances. If you need card services go to suite 102. There are restrooms in the building. Once in the building you will get a number and they will call over the intercom. Calling this place is impossible. If you are lucky and they do answer, you are hooked to someone that clearly doesn't care at all for customer service. You can barely hear them and so you have to keep asking them to repeat. If you do that too much, they hang up on you. The only reason I give this 2 stars is because the guy that finally helped us at the office was understanding and kind and actually helped me with my issues. read more

Came here to get a replacement ss card. Should of came in early in the morning, as I waited almost 3 hours but my fault for coming in the afternoon. Nothing but problems when I first drove in, no parking, people acting wild over parking spots, security guard disrespected me after I asked a simple question to make sure I was in the right line. So much faster than I expected. If you have all of your documents ready all you have to do is get a ticket and wait your turn. There were over 25 people ahead of me and I was in and out in an hour. I just went a few days ago to get a new social security card. I got there around 8:30 when they open. You take a number and wait till your called to a window. I think there are 15 windows. I was number 774 and when I sat down there were at 747. It only took 20 minutes to be called and all of 5 minutes for them to process my paperwork. The women behind the class was very nice but since it was behind glass it was kind of hard to hear her. read more

GO IN THE AFTERNOON. It was a HUGE difference from going in the morning when the line was out the door and there was no parking. I went around 3:30, parked right away, went straight inside and got my ticket. If you are a US resident and are getting a name change for marriage you can also go in the express line which is a little quicker even though there was only one window open for express. Don't bring kids if you can help it, there is still a bit of a wait. I was there a little under an hour all together from parking to getting back into my car. Everyone was friendly. read more

More of a rant than a review since it's the government and you know nothing will change...but why must security guards inside the waiting area (working the express line) be such a nasty bunch of arrogant,self-important, pompous A'holes? You'll know who I mean if you see a tall, very overweight, old, loud and obnoxious guy demeaning people in the waiting area. Very rude to a disabled elderly gentleman who was sitting in the wrong area. Instead of walking over to him (about 10 steps) to hear what the old man was saying, he kept saying 'come hear if you want to talk to me....the old guy had a cane and could hardly walk. Instead he just slowly got up and moved to other side since his explanation to the 'A'hole security guard would have meant more effort than he could give. This amongst other things I observed and overheard him saying to other people in there led to this rant. Just plain nasty. read more

this place doesn't even deserve ONE STAR. It is small and poorly designed for the huge amount of traffic it gets. People wait in line to find a parking spot by the building if one ever opens up or they go across the street at the 7/11 or you can drive down further and park at Walgreens. Once you have FINALLY found a parking spot you have to walk back to the office where there is a line about a block long and it moves very slowly. Apparently, like most government run businesses, this one is no different in that it is slow and they allow people to cut in line, then once inside you have another long line to wait in. The whole place is a joke. One of the worse experiences in my life. They don't allow you to make appointments unless you have small children and even some of those people aren't allowed to make appointments for some unknown reason. They allow old and young to stand and wait in line. This place is just another way our " great government" is showing is appreciation to we the people. read more

When I entered the building and saw that there was standing room only I assumed I would be there most of the day. Even though there were 70 people ahead of me I was done in less than an hour and a half. The facility is very clean and comfortable. The security guards were professional, pleasant and helpful. The gentleman who took care of my application for my replacement Social Security card was extremely efficient and friendly. When I left the line was out the door. Get there early! read more

Parking was tough when I arrived around 10 am. I already had my one page form filled out for a replacement card. You sign in at the Kiosk. Then pull your ticket with a number on it and sit and wait and wait. No one tells you and there are no signs telling you what the "express line" is. It is for American citizens who have all the information ready"...so instead of being able to get on the express line and wait 10 minutes until someone saw me, I waited an hour until my number was called. There is no sign to tell you what the express line is for. Finally, a security guard told everyone about it, but it was too late for me at that point since my number was just called. read more

Every time I come to a government office like this or immigration services, I get treated less than a citizen would or less than a human being. I asked the security guard on duty a question about my issue (which was a less common one) and she immediately interrupted me and said, "You have to fill out an application!". Afterwards, she made an announcement reminding everyone to fill out an application. It would have been nice to actually have been given the respect to finish my question first. I also saw other people being shouted directions at and others who were wondering around lost. I actually looked online and used all my resources before asking so I wouldn't bother them, and couldn't find my answer anywhere online. When I got to the window, the lady helping me looked like she was one bullet away from the last moments of her life and the gun jammed. I simply told her how I was treated and she also interrupted me. Just because some of us are not citizens or need your help, it's no reason to treat us like anything less than human beings. The only positive was that it was a 30 min wait instead of the usual 2 hours. read more

I made an appointment six weeks in advance for 11:45 to go over my Social Security benefits. There was traffic problems and I thought to myself that the office will be crowed and even though you have an appointment, you'll still be waiting at least 45 minutes. I parked the car (I was lucky I found a parking spot) At the suite I was told to go to was a long line - out the door and around the building. Outside the building I asked the security guard if I should stand in line if I have an appointment. he instructed me to go to the other suite and as I walked in the door at 11:45, my name was being called! I didn't hear where to go so I asked the security guard for assistance - he was very rude, no help at all. It never ceases to amaze me, why people have a job like that if you don't like people? The security guard should be working by himself at a desk where no one bothers him or look for a different profession. I asked another person for help and she found out which window I should go to. I talked with Mrs. Gaylor (who was extremely nice and professional) told me about my options in regards to Social Security benefits. The way the office is set up, no one else at another window around you can hear your conversation. The whole process took a little over an hour and I felt good as I walked out the door. My advice to you is if you need to go to the SSA office - you need to make an appointment and bring all documents you think you will need so you don't have to go back again. I even brought a power bill to prove that's where I was living. read more
