No one likes going to a government office, but this trip to the SSA was relatively painless. Adequate parking behind the building, I was greeted by security who gave me my inspection and then politely directed me to the login kiosks. In a moment I had my ticket and was in the waiting room. There were appx 45 people waiting when I arrived and that didn't give me comfort, but within 30 minutes I was at Window 13 and Ms Scott took care of everything quickly, and professionally. The officer who checks your bags was not friendly. I called the day before and was told I could place my documents in a drop box so I didn't have to wait. When I got there my documents did not fit in the drop box' narrow slot so I had to check in and wait. There isn't a staff member in the lobby to answer basic questions such as "where can I leave my documents as they don't die in the drop box slot?" Once I was called back (about 30 minutes) the lady that helped me was great! She took care of my issue in about 5 minutes and I was out of there. Hello I have going thru the ringer will ssdi. I am a handicapped single mom that had no choice but to work. I have called numerous times to try to get help and understand working well collecting ssdi income. My ssdi income was not enough for me to work. I called 8-2-22, I called 6-14 2023, called again on 6-14 23 spoke with shirel. I called 6-27 after going to rude office on 6-26-23. I also called on 6-23-23, I called 7-3-23 when told by amy to call after the 1st if july not results. I called twice on 7-10 23 which Vince hung up on me. Simply asking for help due to letter emailed on 7-10-23. Vince rudely hung up on me. I had to stand in line as a black woman with a prosthetic leg saw another Caucasian man with same thing they ask him to sit down. Amy whom help on 6-26-23 took all documents forms and was not friendly at all. Amy told me to call when called on 6-27-23 I spoke to carol. My expenses exceeds my income I work part time to help keep a roof over my head but they showed no consideration its just been unfair treatment thru process. 1 think after another I m looking on line and days I'm entitled. But every time I speak to someone they discuss my pay stubs. My stubs were dropped off for June what I had. Terrible service, nobody knows what they're doing and everybody has a different answer to the same question. They do not update their computer systems when somebody calls so that they can tell you that you didn't call so as to cover their mistakes. When you do call and finally get through to somebody, after sometimes an hour or more of waiting, when you ask, the person who answers a question, you can call back the same day, and whoever answers will give you a different answer to your question. And like I said, even if you have dates times, and who you spoke to and what question you asked, they will not find a record of you calling and then answering your question. It is definitely a good idea to write down every detail when you call them. Then I would suggest going to the actual Social Security office and talking to someone face-to-face with your question. It doesn't hurt to have that person sign, your notes that you were there and the question you asked along with the answer the person use request gives you. I had to go in several times to get my questions answered and it wasn't until I went all the way to the manager before I could finally get her the right answers, documentation in their computer system, and everything corrected on my disability and Medicare. After dealing with her so many different people at my Social Security office in every way possible, including, hand written letters, sent through the post office, online documents, sent through the Social Security Department, phone conversations, and in person conversations, I now understand why the Social Security administration is bankrupt And has been for years and why the federal government deficit and the Social Security budget is out of this world and costs I thousand times more than it would cost for your largest corporations to be able to handle what Social Security should be able to handle on their budget. In the last two weeks, I've had to bring my mom here three separate times. Each time was ridiculous because if the lack of knowledge that they all seem to have is unbelievable. I was most impressed with Jennifer who helped me with my problem. Knowledgable, professional and friendly, she assisted me with my issue and made my visit almost pain free (except the wait). Here are some tips: MAKE AN APPT or LINE UP AT 730 AM TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST 10 CUSTOMERS not have food or drink. Have all of your documents handy: DL OR STATE ID, death cert, tax documents, etc. Be organized and they will help you swiftly and professionally. This office is no worse then any other that I have been to in town. They are staffed according to what the federal government has allowed them to be staffed at and so don't have as many people as they need for the population that they serve. They have been polite to me, but I am polite to them. I also realize that as government employees they are not getting great wages. Certainly not enough to put up with rude people. The security guard is there because people started acting ugly a few years ago. Now everyone has to follow rules of behavior that make the system run in a civilized manner. Phones must be on quiet or off. No weapons in purses, pockets, or backpacks and guard must verify this. If you talk on the phone it must be outside the waiting area. If you leave the building then you must go through the security line again. Please have your paperwork with you to talk to the representative-it saves confusion for you and time for the rest of us. The reason I docked a star is the lack of parking. There are only four handicap spaces and not that many more spaces available for everyone else. Using the medical facility's parking and parking across the street are the only alternatives. read more

We got there at 8:30 or so on Tuesday, 45+ people in line ahead of us. At 9:00 the doors opened and All of us in line (maybe 50-60 by now) were seated inside after an initial Q & A with a SSA Rep at one of the 20 windows ( 15 open). Our name was called in 30 min or so. She must really hate her job so bad that she would disrespect elderly men and woman coming in as I'm sitting there waiting. I would never set another foot here again. Just as dysfunctional as most SS offices. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor answering your questions, after you have waited for 3 hours in line. For some queries, they make you wait in line saying "someone is going to call your name" and then you are in waiting purgatory, without a number or visual display to show you where you are in line. My total time, without an appointment, was an hour and a half. Everyone was very courteous and very helpful. I've gone to this office three times since last July. Yes, you have to wait. There are a handful of SS offices in the Phoenix area to serve a lot of people. Expect to wait. I tried making an appointment but they were not able to schedule me when I'd be available to go so I went without an appointment and waited. Overall, I was treated decently. Again, it's a BUSY place and if you go In expecting for someone to kiss your butt and roll out a red carpet because YOU decided to show up, you'll be bitter and disappointed. Some people have no patience and think that if they create a scene they'll get special treatment. If you're one of these, please stay away. If you go there expecting to wait your turn, you'll make it though with very little stress. If we could weed out all of the loafers and those who are cheating the system, it would help too. The employees there handle tens of thousands of people. You're just another face. Don't expect a party or a marching band. I've not come across any employee yet who was rude unless they were treated rude first. Chill people. If it's too much of an inconvenience please stop taking the benefits. read more
