I get into a discussion with the counter person taking my payment for the $5.00 late charge and she get an attitude. So I came right back and told her not to take it so personally and at the same time some guy comes out of an office ( Balding, scruffy beard, Fat about 5'9") wouldn't even look at me even after I told him that he didn't have to come out of his office everything was fine!! I don't know if he was trying to intimidate me or what but it was just plain WEIRD!!! They are city employees I pay taxes so I PAY THEIR WAGES!!! They need to be at least a little more respectful of the average citizen that walks into their building!!! Instead of a holier than thou attitude!!! Oh, by the way, my bill was only $76.00 and I paid $100.00. I've had another run-in with these people when their meter reader read our meter(I watched him read it) and didn't put the cover back on properly so the next day my son was mowing the lawn and he stepped on the cover and fellthrough!!!

Ugh, how do you rate a department of motor vehicles?…read more Let's get the elephant out of the room, everybody hates the DMV. It's always a terrible experience. But why is a small town DMV like this so bad? First of all, they're super big on the appointments. They want you to schedule an appointment. So, I scheduled an appointment. Then I got there, and I still had to wait. What's the point of an appointment if you still have to wait? They also don't do walk-ins, there's technically a walk-in line, but I've been there in the morning where the walk-ins are full for the day. It's absolutely ridiculous and I don't mean to speak in complete hyperbole but I don't think it should be legal for a government institution to deny walk-ins. That being said, once I was finally seen by somebody, they were super friendly and helpful. I was able to do what I needed to do. I could do it all at one counter, which is always nice that you don't have to go to multiple locations in the same DMV. The parking lot to the south of the building is a total nightmare. So just be aware of that. For vehicle inspections you have to be parked in that parking lot, they will not cross the street, or leave that parking lot. So again, this DMV shouldn't be this bad, they are not this busy. However, the people that work there are all friendly and helpful.

We bought a house with a gate at the entrance which enters to a large circle drive, which has caused all sorts of problems with regards to USPS. We have a gate code for deliveries so the drivers can deliver our package to our porch (Which UPS and FedEX both have no problem with and deliver often). When I approached the Colbert Post Office gentleman, I was told USPS could not accept the gate code and would not enter the property. On top of that, we have a door bell below the keypad to ring the house. Once again the gentleman told me that the driver would not pull into the driveway entrance because if we are not home, it apparently is against their policy to backup their trucks....which I find ridiculous since they ALL back up their truck at the end of the day in the post office lot!!!! We order a lot from Amazon and get deliveries from all of the deliver companies regarding those packages. If I had a choice, I would never have our local USPS deliver anything. They do not try to accommodate the delivery of our packages.

So no one want to do jury duty... I will say I had an amazing experience and the bailiff did a…read morewonderful job of talking us through the process and making us feel appreciated and comfortable. He was running around getting water and coffee for us! The only negative part was the bad attitudes of some of the jurors trying out get out of serving. Seriously I'm so sad for our society and this is a great place to watch it in action! I am not going to huff and puff next time I get a yellow envelope from the county! It really isn't that bad!

I was walking my kids past this station on our way to storytime at the library. The big ladder…read moretruck was out (actually the "Quint" as I learned), and we stopped to gawp. A couple of firefighters were outside and they asked us over. They took over 20 minutes walking my kids around the truck, letting them climb and sit inside, and just being really gracious and cool guys with the young'uns. I like that they reached out in such a friendly way, it made the station feel like part of the community in a way municipal services rarely achieve.

This course is in-depth at helping develop a business plan molded to one's specific entrepreneurial idea. When completed, the plan will be evaluated by a panel of individuals associated with the Chamber... and suggestions for improvement will be provided. I will walk away with a very tangible business plan to start my new venture. I am thankful! I'm also thankful for the scholarship - as a Marine Vet wife. The skills and networking developed between classmates is not something that could possibly be measured. The help provided by LaFran and Eldonna from the Valley Chamber has been incredible, and an asset to my company's future. There seems no end to the possibilities I see in my future relationship with the Chamber! I encourage others, become involved with your Chamber of Commerce.
