My daughter has enjoyed SoccerKids for years (since she was 2 years old), and this summer she participated in the first summer camp at Julius Kahn (she is now 7). It was her favorite camp this summer. She enjoyed every single day and had no complaints at all. Zero complaints about anything has never happened for her! She was so happy with her two male coaches and all boy team. We are very thankful she got to have this experience, even more so in this time of SIP! Thank you!!! I don't really remember anything spectacular about my son's experience with Soccer Kids. It was one of those, we'll-try-it-because-all-the-other-preschool-kids-are-doing-it things. I remember at one point he found a friend and they remained on the sidelines playing. It's hard to remember because he is 9 now and so that was like, 6 years ago? And yet I just got an email from Soccer Kids because I somehow got back on their mailing list. And when I replied to let them know, Jamie, the owner, just sent me a screen shot. And when I replied back that I didn't understand why I was sent a screen shot and no text and what did it mean, Jamie sent back... let me just copy paste here... "The screenshot shows the unsubscribe link on the bottom of the email. You said it wasn't there. I took a screen shot of the email you sent me with the link." And that was it. In conclusion, coach Jaime, the owner, seems to be a really rude and unprofessional person who hopefully doesn't have any interaction with you or your children. I know, it's so hard to be a small business owner, etc, but I am always in awe of the few who just DNGAF. read more

We've been going to soccer kids for a year now, wish I'd found it sooner as my son is about to age out of their program. Coach Tim is great with the kids. I've seen him deal with shy, quiet, rambuncious, spacey, ??? kids. Everything from children who wouldn't leave their mothers side to those out picking daisies to those wearing dresses (with shin gards and cleats) and my lets score goals boy. He always draws them into the group and gets them all to run around and have fun. He has amazing patience, I know I couldn't do it! If you've got a child age 3-5, this is the place to start their soccer experience. I've only participated at Glen Park, but they do other spots in the city (Sunset, Big Rec and others) as well as Novato and Marin. I thought it was expensive at first, but now I must say its worth every penny. The program plays games with the soccer balls to teach fundamental skills eventually leading up to playing a soccer match. read more

After having a truly horrible experience with a specific coach 2 summers ago, I posted a scathing Yelp review. It's not something I normally do or take lightly, because I understand how many people use Yelp and rely on its reviews to make their decisions about where to take their business. But the experience I had was bad enough to warrant it, and I think anyone who read it knew I wasn't just being a jerk. The manager (Coach Jaime) of the program reached out to me directly, not just once, but at least a couple of times. His apology for my experience (and my son's, which is more important) was sincere, and he invited us to come back free of charge. It has taken a long time, but I finally reached out to accept the offer, and I have to say, I feel good about it. Coach Jaime responded within a couple of minutes, and we're looking forward to giving this program another shot with Coach Mike in the summer. While I don't yet have anything to say about the class specifically because it hasn't started, I can say that my bad run-in with SoccerKids the first time was not representative of this organization as a whole. The coaches are so sweet and fun! Got my kid who has poor gross motor skills running and playing and fully involved. Sometimes he doesn't like doing things that are hard but these coaches are so fun he jumps right in! And the kids are learning solid soccer skills to give them a basis as they get older. read more

My 4 year old is in his fourth or fifth consecutive session of soccer kids at Julius Kahn playground with Coach Tim. It's a great way to start Saturday for the whole family. We love the class. Coach Tim knows how to teach 4 and 5 year olds. Through games and drills the kids learn skills. It reminds me of the Karate Kid (the original) when Daniel was learning specific movements that he could assemble for a complete know-how of karate. One week the kids might learn stopping the ball. The next they might play a dribbling game. After a few months, we started to see a little soccer player. We plan to stay in the class as long as age allows. read more

This is such a great company to play for. My son has been going to for almost 2yrs now and we have only missed one season! Coach Sara is the best !! Before becoming a soccer coach she was a preschool teacher. The way she handles the kids is amazing!! Practices are filled with fun games teaching the kids rules of the game and a few cool soccer tricks they last about 40min long with the last few practices ending in scrimmage games. We started Soccer Kids about 2 months ago in Glen Park. My son is age 5 and he LOVES his Thursday class. The coach is really sweet and works well with the kids. One day my son had an accident, the park bathrooms were closed, and the coach was really kind and sympathetic. I think this is a nice program. If I had one suggestion, I'd like it to be 5 minutes longer. It's pretty short. read more

We LOVE soccer kids!!! 7 years ago we started with Soccer Kids and coach Jaime (and then the amazing Coach Alicia) with our older daughter, who is now blowing us away with her competitive soccer skills at age 10. #2 daughter is on the same path. Soccer kids teaches REAL soccer skills and technique in an age-appropriate, fun way. I find the soccer kids staff remarkably skilled at finding creative ways to teach important basics to the little ones, without getting BORING. Okay, straight up, Soccer Tots is sooooo much better than Soccer Kids. Soccer Kids does not have a good vibe compared to Tots. I switched from Tots to Soccer Kids because they had a more convenient location from where I live, but now I'm wishing I hadn't. The Soccer Kids coach was kinda dreary -- dressed all in black and kinda going through the motions. My kid was freaked out by his demeanor -- seriously!! Tots' coaches are all happy and cheery -- SO MUCH better for engaging the kiddos!!!! When I compare the two program managers, Tots' leader is cheerful and bubbly (what every little kid --- and parent -- wants); she makes sure everything is going right. But Soccer Kids' leader Jaimie is difficult to deal with. He's more concerned with making a buck than with the kids having a good time! Bottom line, there aren't many choices: Go with Tots not Soccer Kids! read more

Ridiculously high ratio of verbal instruction to actual time with ball. In an already short class, with multiple water breaks, most parents agreed it was a waste of time. If this is a conscious methodology for teaching 3-4-year-olds, that was never articulated. Parents were nearly in revolt. read more

Coaches are nice but somewhat disorganized. Kids had difficulty learning because lack of consistency with the schedule. Ridiculous multiple water breaks. They changed the time of the class after the session started due to poor planning with the park department in getting a permit and did nothing to accommodate parents who had scheduled other events. Can't imagine a more engaging soccer coach for toddlers than Coach Shawn with Soccer Kids. This summer at Julius Kahn Park Coach Shawn engaged our toddler in the sport. My first soccer class or sports class for my kid. Ive been training him to kick a ball since he could walk. My wife is Brazilian and i need the kid to be impressive when we return to Brazil this xmas. I even snuck him in since he isnt even 3.5 years old yet. Ive been waiting two years to start the guy playing something! I'm a big believer in sports being fun and this is a perfect place to start your kid of all levels. Did I think the coach talked too much? Yes. Did I want the kid to being doing drills non stop with no water breaks? Yes. I read the other reviews. I felt the same way but I also understand you just have to chill and let the kid enjoy his day. He is not going to learn to be a pro in 40 minutes and the kids aren't all there to be pros. These kids are all at different levels and he isnt there to just train your little superstar. Have you even spent a hour just with kids this age trying to teach them how to play sports? I just spent the last two years trying and its hard. Coach Jamie has a talent for keeping it fun for all levels. To my kid he is the funny guy with the yellow balls. If you are really intense you should plan on moving the kid to Brazil to train like I am going to do. Ha ha ha. I need the kid to be playing on hot burning packed sand with no shoes, no shin guards, with no water in sight for 2 miles, in 95 degrees ,on a humid Sunday after church with no coaches, and playing against kids twice his size. Im going to hold off on the tattoos and lip rings the kids are starting to get at age 5 down there though. In case my kid doesnt become a pro I dont want to wreck his looks for Hollywood! Oh..by the way..my kid ripped it up in his first game. Im sneaking him up to the next level to play with the 5 year olds. Im going to have to make him lose the diaper. read more

My son loooooved this class. He was 3 and later 4 when he participated in soccer kids and if they hadn't worked so hard to make it fun I don't think he would have ever enjoyed soccer. We love Soccer Kids. Coach Alicia is the best! My 4.5 year old has been doing this since he was 3. He loves going every Saturday. I think the things she teaches them are perfect for the age group they are in. They are just getting started with some "real soccer games" and introducing some competitiveness at the 4/5 level, which I am happy with. It should be fun!!! My son was a soccer tot until he was old enought to join soccer kids (before soccer kids took children under 3.5 years old) Having done both our family really likes Soccer Kids. Our son has had the same coach for the past 1.5 years. Coach Heather does a great job teaching listening and disciplin in addition to teaching soccer skills. Her upbeat approach is great. What can be tricky is the over-turn of kids at the end of each session, and it would be nice if they had both beginner and experienced sessions for each age group so that the kids who have been playing for a while continue to expand their skills and not "start over" each session. This might also help with parent retention. I know I would be happy if I was looking at a 9 month stretch of coaching instead of a series of 10 week sessions. Overall, they are a well-run organization. On time, on track - we love soccerkids. read more

Our son started this fall with soccer kid. He is a reserved kinda kid that takes a while to warm up. But we found that the coach (coach Janessa) is great with kids. She knows how to engage a bunch of 4 yrs, old to participate in the class. We are signing him up for next season. read more

We love SoccerKids, little Zac, age 4 would rather go to soccer than pre-school (and he goes to an awesome pre-school that he loves!) Coach Tim and Coach Lauren are so sweet and really get the kids involved, excited and learning how to move the ball. They teach skills through games and it makes it so much fun. The high-fives and positive comments make the kids feel like champs. Very organized and great communication. read more

Soccer Kids is great and Coach Tim is FANTASTIC! We have been participating for over a year now and I have had many, many oppurtunities to observe Coach Tim and others work with a couple different age groups. He does a wonderful job keeping the kids focused and explaining the concepts of what they are learning and doing in an age appropriate manner without talking down to them. Our child recently had a birthday and with the changing of the seasons I talked to Coach Tim about what group she should be in for next season. He had an immediate answer and what he said proved to me he knew her well. He greets all the kids each day personally and he remembers the off the wall things they said before (like places they were going or events they had between classes). It is obvious that Coach Tim not only loves soccer but loves teaching it to the kids! As for the company, they have great communication and do an awesome job keeping us infomed of what is happening and of any changes! I highly recommend Soccer Kids! read more

My son is almost 4 and we are so happy with soccer kids! My son has been attending classes this Spring 2x a week he likes it so much. I am very impressed with the coaches and especially Coach Heather! They are really really really patient, friendly and skilled! At first I thought it was a little expensive, but after joining I see it is worth it. The lesson consists of warm up, drills and practice games. They encourage team work. The coaches also keep good control of the group and make sure everyone gets equal attention regardless of skill level. They also have a good insight as to how to set up the teams so everyone is getting practice appropriate for their ability level and age. Highly Recommend!!! read more

This is my four-year-old daughter's second season with Coach Jaime. I am a huge fan of him and this wonderful class. He has a wonderfully fun manner with the kids and has really created a lot of creative games for the kids to practice their skills without doing boring drills. It is an absolute treat to watch all of the little ones have so much fun and really improve their skills. I love how he does the seasons. Just when I get a little tired of going every Sat. there is a short break. It makes it so that we sign up for each season. This is so worth your child's time. My daughter absolutely loves it. My 5 year old son just started his first class this season at Julius Kahn. He loves it. Coach Tim is great with kids. I like that he has a passion with soccer himself as well as teaching kids. My older son used to take his lesson 2 years ago. Surprisingly coach Tim still remembers him and his name. I like the way he teaches by engaging them with some game and fun activities.
