Our Experience with the Crusader Soccer League…read more We had a terrible experience with the Crusader Soccer League before we even set foot on the field for the first practice. As several other parents have already warned, this organization had no warmth and was completely unwilling to issue refunds even though it was not our fault. If you try to ask for one, expect to be shamed, argued with, and stonewalled. Unless you're literally being rushed to the hospital or deployed overseas, there's no reason they'll bend for you. They'll gladly pocket the $150‑plus registration fees. Our interactions with multiple employees were especially disheartening. Communication was cold and combative, seemingly designed to make the process as painful as possible. Prospective families should be aware that the league does not accept in‑person birth certificates (Not shown anywhere on their site); they force you to upload the document to their online system and then trust that the child's digital safety will be protected. (Ironically, the system is known to have bugs that let you sidestep this requirement entirely, yet they still expect your trust...) We were disgusted by the lack of care and transparency and if there's any positives here, we're just relieved we won't be tied to this league for years to come. Enjoy the money we needed, hopefully it was worth it Crusaders.

AZTEC RECREATION CENTER @ SDSU…read more This gym is available for all San Diego State University students and those who are interested in purchasing the membership. I definitely have enjoyed coming to this gym for the past 3 years as a student. I really like how big the gym is, it has two floors, and they also have areas where you can lift and also join to do classes. The one thing I dislike and lost a star was that it can get VERY overpacked, and that they don't have enough machines for this. There is way too much people waiting on the one machine they have, valley enough treadmills for the amount of students that attend this school. They always run out of paper towels especially when it gets done to the evening crowd. I'd definitely recommend attending an evening time for the gym

The facility upgrades are fantastic, but it's sad that the facilities are no long open 24 hours! I assume it's to allow staff to deep clean the place? There are two main gripes I have about the ARC: 1. The students need to learn how to rerack their dang weights. 2. On weekend nights sometimes the walkways are cluttered with hot dog stands -- including in the bike path near the arena and the ramp to the gym. I don't remember that being an issue pre-COVID. I bike to the ARC to avoid parking, but having to navigate my bike around hot dog carts in a thoroughfare is annoying.

They cancelled the camp very last minute at UCSC, by email in a two sentence non apologetic manner,…read moreone day before it started. It stated they were significantly under-enrolled. One wonders then, if they needed 20 players (as indicated) and only had 10, why did they wait til the last minute. They should have let parents know weeks ahead of time. For most people this was a residential camp (not for us). This means parents had to scramble at the last minute. The greater crime here, however, is there was no opportunity for a refund of the $450 paid! CRAZY! They ignored four emails and two phone calls. Finally, after 3 weeks, I had to go through my bank to report fraudulent charges. Who does that!?

A two sentence email would have saved me a lot of driving. Good luck getting your money back Beth…read more I drove my son about 3 hours to camp at UC Santa Cruz on Sunday August 6. We spent hours driving around campus asking people who worked there about this camp and nobody knew anything about it. The camp was never registered with the school and I was never told it was cancelled. I disputed this charge with my credit card company and Dennis Lukens submitted paperwork of his own saying the charges were non refundable. Now the credit card company and I have a problem. This camp and all camps associated with Dennis Lukens are a scam. Read the reviews on other sites about him. He has been doing this for a few years now, all over the country.
