Tonight l had another great experience at Paragon thanks to the sensitivity and good nature of Mike R in the upstairs shoe and boot department. As a rule, my 88-year old husband doesn't like to buy himself new clothes. But after what feels like weeks in this polar vortex, with him stubbornly trudging and slipping through the snow in old rubber rain boots and a cane, l stopped hinting and put my foot down: we were going to buy him some warm, waterproof boots with cleats. Knowing that he might only put up with one outing, I decided to scout Paragon on my own, first. Mike R. advised me he had only one style of boot that fit what l was looking for and not many sizes left. When he came back with a size in the ballpark, l asked if he could hold it for me. Mike was blunt: he couldn't do any 24-hour holds with the stock so low, but he could hold it for two hours. I thanked him, explaining that if l bought these and presented them to my husband as a done deal he would never even try them on. But we'd be back, within the hour. When we arrived on the floor, Mike picked right up on the dynamic: this was not a customer for a hard sell. And so Mike was the soul of discretion. He kept a low profile, talking quietly and only to me and showed up just often enough to be helpful. He was patient, kind and l got the feeling he was enjoying the challenge of selling without ever even connecting with the guy trying on the boots. And Mike's strategy worked! We made the transition from my husband's original reaction to the only boots in his size ("l hate them!") to walking out with four pairs of socks and that same pair of warm, waterproof boots with cleats. I am deeply grateful to and frankly in awe of Mike R, Paragon boots department. Thank you!

Douglas was very helpful in showing me the selection and discussing the shoes specs, including Adidas and Asics. However, at several points our conversation was rudely interrupted by Mike R who appears to be his supervisor, raising his voice (his voice carries) and ordering Douglas around while we were discussing my training plan. I think these interruptions were inappropriate while Douglas was providing his advice. In the end, I did not buy shoes because I was annoyed.

Lots of colors too, and bigger sizes for those of us who need a little extra room. The cashier was awesome and gave me a discount that I was unaware of and helped me save some money on my first purchase there. From my very first visit, to today, the staff is, and has always been cordial, courteous, professional and respectful to all their customers. Warren, Tony, Eugene, Henry and the rest of the past, and present crew, serve our community with their individual and collective golden hearts, regularly. There is such an abundant variety of clothes for work, an amazing variety of casual clothing, as well as shoes, boots, jackets, bags, for different purposes in different sizes, gloves, underwear, socks, wallets, utility items and other gear to choose from. The prices are very reasonable and the Timberland boots I just purchased, having bought them here before, are so comfortable that I plan on going to get a backup pair on my next payday! I decided to go with the wide version and my feet are thanking me profusely! Having previously purchased all of the above mentioned items over the years, I gladly support this local small business. This Brown's Army & Navy Store is Big on Quality, as well as Excellent Customer Care Specialty! I highly recommend shopping at this location for yourself, your family, your friends and your other loved ones. I have never been disappointed and am a proud, grateful and satisfied repeat customer! Thank you, Brown's Army and Navy Store and Crew!

They had literally never been taken out of the box. I begrudgingly found something to exchange them for, and he still wouldn't even give me the difference between the pairs in cash -- I ended up with $50 worth of socks and a bad taste in my mouth. I always try to support local businesses, but "no returns" is a really bad business practice and I hope my review encourages the owner to rethink it.

The man that was working was super nasty when I was asking prices and wasn't even aware of where the shoes were/sizes were in they mess of the back of the store. When I decides on two shoes I asked if he could find the other one and he quickly yelled at me to "hold on, he was trying to find the size" which resulted in him calling someone. Before I could even REALLY decide between the two shoes (one he wen deep sea diving for and the other in which he was really just too lazy to find) he took the pair and put it in a bag and he was like ok 70$ and continued to give me an attitude when I wanted to find out about the other pair of sneakers. Mad at myself for buying them, might be returning just since the guy was a total asshat. Stay away.
