We initially contacted Kleon after reading a glowing review in Conde Nast traveler and, after exchanging emails and speaking with him, sent in a deposit to begin working with him. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service we were then provided. We did not feel that the activities, hotels, or room types were any different than what we had already seen online and the prices were actually much more than what was advertised on the hotels' websites. We asked for different variations but the price never came down. During this process, another travel agent that we had contacted previously got back to us with an itinerary and price that were much better. We asked for our down payment back which was refused very nastily. I even offered to split it recognizing that he had done at least some work for us which was also refused. In the end, we went with the other agent, had a great experience, and paid less even factoring in the $1000 we lost to The Art of Travel. Don't make the same mistakes I did!

We get call from the company, nicely asking if we were still going to participate, we said yes and they politely waited for us!!! How awesome is that!?!!?! We started off the tour at the Whaley House - f'ing creepy - and upon leaving the doorsteps, we were greeted by our tour guide and a limo! The limo ride was smooth and the drinks in the limo were complementary. We drove to Downtown, learned haunted history about the Stingaree DISTRICT - not the club, the Grand Horton Hotel, and the Horton Theater. Jumped back in our ride and rode down to the Hotel Del, then back up to Old Town to see the oldest graveyard in SD. Overall the tour, the experience, the customer service, the history was all amazing and I learned a lot. The boyfriend was heavily satisfied and I'm glad he liked it. The price of the tour is a tad much, but it's not dreadful. I highly recommend this to anyone who interested in history, creepy stuff or if you're bored. Oh! Our tour guide Magnus was amazing! He was very informative, friendly, entertaining, and he never broke out of character. Even with all the drunks passing by us in downtown, he never broke - SUPER!

The value is great what with the admission to the two sites that cost money (the whaley house and star of India), the length of the tour, the limo ride, and beer all being included in the tour price. It is important to note that The Whaley house is normally $6 for a SELF guided tour. One of the docents gave us the tour, we got a couple of really interesting pictures! My mom is a skeptic and a hobby photographer with a pretty nice camera. She was very suprised at the way some of the pictures turned out. I'll try to upload the best one. My dad also had an interesting experience; on the stairs he thought he touched someones hand and when he turned around to say excuse me no one was there! Be sure to take lots of pictures at this location. The limo ride was fun; if you find it awkward have a few beers! Alcohol is, afterall, the great social lubricant. Ours was a hummer stretch although I think they use different ones everytime. The beer is bud light and they also have a decanter of rum and vodka. Magnus was our guide and he was excellent. He told the stories without being TOO theatrical (which I think ruins the reality of the tour) and even helped spark up some discussions in the limo about ghosts and our beliefs. Be sure to bring money for a good tip! The other sites we visited were the star of India, del Coronado, the outside of the horton hotel, and the cemetery in old town. We also got some interesting pictures with orbs at the cemetery. My mom was very surprised since they didn't show up in all the night pictures and her lens usually filters out dust or other particles. The orbs also only appeared behind the wall where magnus said about 13 people were buried purposely outside the cemetery. Spooky. Do this tour if you're a history buff, are interested in the paranormal, or if you're just looking for a good story! Two thumbs way up.

I visited San Diego for the first time at the end of March with my boyfriend. Since we just had a…read morelong weekend scheduled there, we wanted to maximize our time to sightsee as much as possible. I found the scenic tour through San Diego Ride & Tours on TripAdvisor and booked it for Friday, March 27, about a month in advance. The cost at the time was roughly $80pp. The meeting spot was about a 10-minute walk from our hotel, which was convenient. Our mini van was full and the group was a great mix of friendly folks from around the country. Jim was our tour guide, and my boyfriend was so pleased that he bought his book online when we got home. He was genuinely interesting to listen to and is definitely in the right field. The tour took us through Little Italy, past expensive homes on a hill, to La Jolla's Children Pool where we saw seals. We spent about 12 minutes there before heading to Mt. Soledad for some pretty views. We spent about 12 minutes there as well. From there, we traveled to Old Town San Diego for a quick visit - again less than 15 minutes, which permitted time to do some light shopping and that was all. We drove past allegedly the most haunted home in America as well as Heritage Park's Victorians. After that, we headed to Balboa Park. I think we had maybe 15 minutes there, which was just long enough to know I wanted to return on my own (which we did - multiple times). From there, we went to Coronado Island. I think we had 20 minutes tops there, which provided time to see the Hotel Del quickly as well as the beach and some famous folks' homes. We passed by the Gaslamp Quarter and some cool murals on the way back to the meeting spot. Traffic did impede our times at each spot. On TripAdvisor, it said the stops would be longer - La Jolla - 20 mins, Old Town and Balboa - 25 mins each, Coronado - 30 minutes. Since all of us on the tour mentioned not having set plans afterward, I wish we could've gotten slightly closer to those times as it did feel rushed to me. I think they should add a disclaimer on TripAdvisor explaining that times at each location will be cut if there's traffic. Another reason why I docked a star is that the tour was advertised as having waters and snacks included. One bottle of water was provided once the others on the tour asked about it. In terms of snacks, Jim plucked some fruit off a tree for us in Old Town. It was tasty but I guess I was expecting more in way of snacks. All in all, I had a really good time and was able to see more in a couple of hours than I would've been able to see on my own. For that, the tour was worth it.

She provided us recommendations on hotels to stay in the cities we wanted to visit, and found our flights and hotels to accommodate the budget range we provided her. The hotels she booked us at were all within walking distance or a short cab ride to the places we wanted to see. Gigi even followed up with us a few days prior to our trip to remind and make sure we brought all the essentials. She even checked in on us on our first day of arrival to make sure we got to our hotel okay and there were no problems. She even went above and beyond with re-sending us all our flight and hotel itinerary information on day 5 of our trip, as we could not locate it for some reason on our laptops and phones. Pretty much felt comfortable the whole trip that we had a life line back home in Gigi if worst came to worst. Panama-Surf Tour Company…read more We just had a good 8 day trip with them. They took care of everything; Airport pick up/drop, Cars, lodging, driving, monitoring surf etc etc. Surf was good when it was up (50%). They took us to Coronado for a day or to surf the bay, then into the jungle (Santa Catalina) and then to Panama City to see the sites b/c surf was gone. Our guide was good and quickly became a friend too (Pipa). Related- to remote surf camps / hostel destinations (out of 5 possible stars) Venue- 4 Surf - 4 (July) 5-7 ft Service- 4 Overall exp- 4 Stars Drawbacks- It is a surf trip so there isn't guarantee's on waves and you will have to strap your boards down and carry them around.
