Super friendly, helpful staff, great atmosphere. Would love to see a bigger store, but don't want to lose that small town family feel.

Normally, I'd say 4 stars for being a good grocery store with decent prices, but the cashier I had…read moreat this one was not at all friendly. I'm not from Canada so I have a hard time using my cards sometimes. I swiped a card, didn't work. She asked what it was, I told her...then I said, its an American card so it can be either credit or debit. Since she couldn't fathom the thought, she got all snippy and was like.. WHAT IS IT? So I showed her "ITS A CARD!!" Anyways....I got what I needed plus some and overall a very clean store.

I was there Yesterday, the day before mothers day. I broke my leg very very badly, and I am still recovering, I wear a very large brace from hip to ankle. I was looking at the flowers for my Mom, as I approached them the long carpet had a big wrinkle in it, I tripped on it pushing the carpet back about 2 feet, she looked at me she was 12 inches from me and I said look at this the carpet, I almost fell, she proceeded to walk over by the fruit to catch up with a fellow must have been a friend, stood there almost 5 minutes talking, even after I said excuse me 2 times. All I wanted was a price on the roses I was buying as they were different than all the others with a price, finally, she stopped talking, and laughing with her friend that was shopping, I waited for her, I was upset. I was not rude at any point at all, I should have pointed out what she did, but she knew. She tried to get around me but, I yelled excuse me as she brushed past me, and I kept saying it. She finally turned and said Yes in a not so on point of her job reply, I asked how much are these flowers, she ran around looking, finally came back and told me. I did mention the rug, she said nothing and walked away. It really put me off. I was very displeased with her, her actions reflect the whole store, and that should be made extremely clear to her. NOT GOOD

The older staff and managers seem to be helpful if you can find one, but there is a consistent irritating issue with --in my experience -- many of the younger employees. The store is quite large, probably one of the largest supermarkets in the City. This means it is sometimes difficult to find where items are, especially if it is something other than the basics. Almost without fail, when you ask a question about where something is located, you will get a precise answer. Trouble is that it is almost always wrong. (One Saturday, I had to ask a clerk three times and after three trips still couldn't find my item. Finally I just said "Do you know that (the item) is in that aisle or are you just guessing?" Answer: "Well, I thought it might be." This was the fourth visit in a row with a similar scenario where I was sent running around because someone guessed, or made something up, or answered with a location even though, as it turned out, they didn't even know what the item was I asked for was! (Anchovies, if you're wondering.) How hard is it to call someone else if you don't know an answer? Management--Train your staff members to either answer questions correctly or find someone else who can. If they don't know an answer, admit it. It makes a customer feel devalued to get sent on a wild goose chase -- or two or three -- because it is easier to guess or make something up rather than admit you don't know and find the proper person to deal with it. *Sigh* I really wouldn't take time to write this for a single incident, but it happens all the time at this store and it is so easily preventable with a few minutes training. I like the President's Choice products though, so an extra star for them--if I can find them.
