The first time was to browse the aisles because every Costco will cater to their community and I discovering local stuff. In this case I found some snow, ice rubber shoe traction aids which you won't find in So. Cal where I live. I also like to sample any new item from their food court. It was poutine and not bad at all. The brown gravy tasted similar to a KFC gravy and the cheese curds tasted like mozzarella. They have a gas station so don't freak out when you see the price because it's in litters not gallons. The only bummer was that they only accept MC and my USA Costco Visa card does not work in Canada . My option was cash and it's a good thing they have an ATM so you're not S.O.L.

Hell, I'm told that my state has the same population as all of Canada but let me tell you how this one little Costco stands out -- real customer-centric-service. I do not remember all of the names but I had the return from hell -- different country, different tax system, and a conversion rate to boot. It did take a while and I was patient with my bizarre Merican request and got my refund in equivalent Canadian dollars. Any business that will go to that extreme for a refund is worth a long-term membership in my book.

Bulk barn is a bulk food store that sells things like a variety of grains , flours , powdered…read moresauces ,cous cous, noodles, powdered drinks, nuts, dried fruits , a huge variety of candy , and snacks , cold pie fillings , granola etc. They even carry organic and sprouted items at decent prices. I would love to see them continue to expand their organic line. They carry Nature's path products , dog and small animal food plus soap and they even rent out baking pans . They have a huge variety of them. I have visited 3 Bulk Barns Charlottetown, Moncton and Summerside and truth be told if it was not for bulk barn I would have starved the first month I was in this area. While I may eat junk food when I am out at home I cook healthy organic vegan / veggie stuff which for some reason has not really caught on here in Eastern Canada. Anyway that being said this Bulk Barn is larger then the one in Summerside and about the same size as the one in Charlotttown, hence they carry more items then the Summerside one. Also just a warning their prices are excellent on some things and highway robbery on others PLUS not everything here is healthy , its just as bad filled with preservatives and chemicals and fattening so READ the little red & white recipe/ ingredient cards they have on each barrel.

Since moving here 2 years ago this has become my favorite place to shop. Most of what they sell is salvage and overstock from other stores which most of the time means that if boxes are crushed or torn, packages have been opened, companies have changed the labeling on products or if they just have too much stock on hand, you will save BIG by purchasing at Marden's. Some of my finds have been: -Interior paint for $5, selling for $15 elsewhere -Vitamins, supplements & OTC meds for 30-60% less -End of season clothing on clearance for $5 or less -Popular hair appliances for about 50% off -Skincare and hair products for about 50% off -Foods for about 50% off -Home decor & kitchen items for about 50-75% off If you are a bargain shopper then you will love this place, be careful though because they don't have regular inventory, so you can't count on something still being there the next time you come in. Their catchy jingle will play in your head if you miss out on something: "I should have bought it when I saw it at Marden's"

This Sobey is located up on the hill close to Costco. I was surprise this Sobey is called 'Extra' and was not sure why. When I walked in i was pleasantly surprise to see how big this Sobey really was! They have a huge variety of food! There are a good mix of asian selection like sushi, noodle soup, and fried asian dishes. On the western side, they got chicken, ribs, beef, pot pies, Salad, soup, pizza and most of them are hot and ready! The cool part of this place is that they have courses for Cooking! they have a nice set up for a class room setting of 15 people or more. Today I felt like their chicken, hot meal, and salad meal for $18.99. Not a bad deal, it will definitely feed 3 people comfortably. For the hot meal i got their mac & cheese and slaw for the salad. Mac & cheese was very creamy and good. Chicken was perfectly done. Slaw was refreshing.
