I'm a Costco member in the United States, and I have nothing but the best to say about the US stores; however, this particular store seems to suffer significantly from laziness, rudeness, or just plain bad customer service. On a recent visit, my partner and I took our purchases to a cashier. I showed my card, and my partner proceeded to pay. She flatly refused to take his payment. In the US, we have never experienced such discrimination against our family. Strike 1. So I paid, but Costco in Canada doesn't accept debit cards from the United States. Strike 2. We dropped by the service desk to find out about the debit issue, and the attendant offered to let us apply for a Costco AMEX card. After we went through the entire process, she found out that we could not apply as US residents! Strike 3. If we were true to baseball, we would have called the store an OUT and never returned... But we went back today. As we entered, the card checker made sure we knew they were closing in 10 minutes. How tacky. That IS NOT customer service! I wrote corporate Costco about my experiences. They apologized profusely, and the local manager promised to call me... on a Sunday... and then he didn't... Make of that what you will. I can say that the hot dog and soft drink deal is the best food value in Saint John. Just expect the folks there to act like warehouse workers. No one is willing to lift a finger to find out answers to questions or call a manager for assistance. They act as if it's a labor for them to even wait on you. Hope it gets better. read more

What an expansive Costco! The food court people were awesome and helped me understand the Canadian terminology. I miss using my AMEX at Costco as a whole, and sadly they only accept MasterCard in Canada, whereas America only takes Visa, as of June 20, 2016. I have not had any trouble using my debit card from California. Perhaps that's because it's a MasterCard debit card. Thanks Costco for being a worldwide company! read more

I love Costco as a whole and shop there all the time. This review is about the mobile shop. I was in to purchase an I phone on Jan 2, 2020. The person who served me was so rude to me. It was as if I was disrupting him. I'm guessing that they don't get commission on their cell phone sales because he did not want my business. My only regret is not confronting him about his poor attitude at the time. My daughter who was with me walked away. When I left to find her she said that she walked away because of how rude he was. This happened in between 1-2 yesterday afternoon. There was 2 employees there. This is not meant for the other employee. He was helping someone else. I wish that I had waited to speak with him instead of the employee who wanted to ensure that I could tell that he did not want to answer my questions nor wanted to sell me anything. I went home and researched which phone I wanted to buy since he provided me with nothing for information. I will purchase from a provider online now and not one that has contracts through Costco. I will not be getting the $125 Costco gift card that they are offering nor the free air buds that he could not be bothered to tell me about but it is worth it to not have to deal with someone like him again. read more
