Purchased the deep transmission pan for the 10R140. Upon receipt I was confused on how to install it found a paper in the box saying to check my email for instructions. Got the email but instructions don't exist, lots of research to see if I can find any info on how to install the pan/magnet. Ended up having to wing it it being Thursday night and I need the truck in the morning (yes I could have reinstalled the original pan but ford trans fluid is expensive). I ended up having to find a ride to work. The bolt to retain the factory magnet provides a whopping 2 threads engagement into the pan and immediately strips the threads when tightening, I ended up rounding up a bolt that just happened to fit with a thick washer to get me around 4 threads. Quickly realized I don't need to be doing this and this should be quality for the price. 2 threads just is not enough regardless of torque applied when using steel bolts into aluminum. The same night I sent an email to support and I did not hear back for 4 days. Chance finally got back to me and could not provide me with a torque spec that should have been used nor any other instruction on how to install. He says " There is no torque spec on that bolt. It literally just needs seated and that is it." is this a reflection on their design and machine work? Very specific thank you so much for that. I don't know about anyone else but the trans replacement is over $8k I would expect an exact measurement of torque applied so it wouldn't come loose especially with this chincy pan with 2 threads holding the bolt and isolator in. He continues to blame the customer for installing it incorrectly but will not provide any information as to how to install it. Amazing Needless to say I will not be purchasing any products from SPE again due to their customer support. Chance did offer me the option to buy another pan at a discounted price but then I would have 2 $400 billet aluminum paperweights, hard pass. Asked if we could discuss a return and refund only to be shot down and it's my fault their design is flawed and no information is given. I'm sure he will get on here and tell me I should have called but. Their website says business hours are M-T 9AM-5PM. Who is installing their parts on any of these days? He says he responds to emails 7 days a week 14 hours a day but it took 4 days to respond to my email. We purchased this part in January 2025 in anticipation of a busy summer of traveling and towing. The part was straightforward and installation was successful. We drove the truck as a daily driver for 4 months with no issues. The first out of town trip...2000 miles away from home, towing our 7000 lb travel trailer, we had a catastrophic failure that left us only able to travel 30 mph on the freeway, 60 miles outside of the nearest town. My wife, 3 kids and I were stranded for 2 days. We were able to contact a wonderful mechanic who rescued us and took the truck to his shop and diagnosed the issue as a turbo failure. We contacted SPE and were told to ship the part back to them and they would fix it. We are now 600 miles from home, no truck and we pay out of pocket to send the part across the country. $400 dollar rental car, $200 trailer storage fees, $5000 in truck repairs and three weeks later, we get en email stating, Yep our turbo failed and we are sending you a new one. We kindly explained we had to put a different turbo in the truck to get in running again and get all of our property home again and rent more equipment to do so, we really just want our money back. They told us, that was against their company policies and that they only exchange the parts, they dont give refunds. So, after almost $7,000 in out of pockets expenses, money that we didn't have, plus the original $2600 part, we are out almost $10,000 altogether. We also have a $2600 paper weight sitting in the garage that we have no use for and would certainly not recommend for anyone else to use considering the nightmare it caused us! I do not recommend this part and quite frankly I highly advise you stay away from this company that has no qualms about taking your hard earned money and turning their back once their quotas are met. This is why you have a D rating from the BBB. You continue to deflect from issues caused by your products rather than just fixing the problems caused by your products. So in the first paragraph of your response you clearly state the actuator failed and it was misdiagnosed. First of all it was not misdiagnosed, I was completely straightforward with what was diagnosed, stating it was the VGT WITH IN the turbo. The actuator is WITH IN AND SOLD AS ONE UNIT WHEN BUYING THE TURBO FROM YOUR COMPANY. The part failed causing the entire unit to fail, causing my truck to completely fail while driving on the freeway. My truck was immediately put into "limp mode" reducing my to 15mph on the freeway. This happened 70 miles north of Salt Lake City UT, so approximately 400 miles from home. Your product failed, splitting hairs saying it was an actuator with in the turbo gets you no where. You sold the product as a whole and failed to back your product. In your second paragraph again you start with the deflecting from the truth. I said it was a 2,000 mile trip. Your product failed approximately 400 miles away, which again I was very clear with in my emails. Your NEVER offered to ship the part to the mechanic for a quick fix. You only stated with in the emails that the complete turbo had to be shipped to you at my cost, diagnosed by you, fixed by you, then shipped back to be reinstalled. I explained to you several times that the mechanic was not willing to store my truck for this long process. You were fully aware of this. In your third paragraph you stated the turbo was out of warranty, weird because when the email chain first started you stated very clearly that the turbo was well with in the warranty. Thus is a direct quote from the first email sent from Paul. " If it was purchased November of 2024 that is still in our 1 year warranty". Then on June 13th after me finding and sending you my order #, Paul is quoted saying this. " Since you are well within our one year warranty please send the turbo back to us and let us take it apart to find out why it failed". In your last paragraph you stated I fully understood and acknowledged this. I never accepted any of this process. Yes I called but it was to try to resolve this horrific situation before it had to come to this. Bottom line is after spending approximately $2,600 on your product and took it out to be used as it was designed to be used, IT FAILED. Then when I tried to resolve this, very respectfully I might add with the emails to prove this, you ( Chase and Paul ) did not care to properly resolve situation. Even after several times through emails me explaining the situation and explaining I can not just store my daily driver truck 400 miles away at a mechanic shop for months. In the end because of the failure of your product this ordeal ended up costing me close to $10,000. I NEVER ONCE asked for this back I only asked for a straight refund for the turbo and the turbo only...$2,600 approximately. Furthermore, if this was such a horrendous misdiagnosis, why not at any time did a representative from your company, contact the mechanic, to which on June 12th...I provided all of the contact info, including mechanics name? The mechanic was fully willing to talk to a representative from your company to exponentially speed up this process. But no one from your company was willing to cooperate, instead...I as the customer was forced to play middle man for three weeks To the BBB...I have the email chain to back up everything I claim...I am happy to provide them to you. read more
