The Extended Warranty covered the part and after two tries the service contractor called Whirlpool (the granddaddy of all appliance companies!). They said the "part was no longer available!" They meant the Induction top board not the ubiquitous control board. As a result our Induction top/ stove is no longer reparable and is basically junkable! So we are looking to replace a 3 yo stove! His parting comment was thar he expected a positive review of the service. Universal Appliance was totally disinterested in my experience. 5.30am was dark (it was Winter), obviously, I was still in bed, clearly not expecting a delivery. I struggled to lift the appliance and had to ask a neighbour for help. Universal Appliance had said that instillation was covered by the additional cost but were dismissive of my experience. The experience was, quite frankly both disturbing and threatening. I have bought an Aga stove and the Sharp multi function microwave from this company. I will never patronize them again.

Tech wanted to charge 105 + tax for a 5 min assessment. The part was very expensive but I could get it for $80 cheaper because I have a parts account #. After hearing that he said, he would charge me the $80 more on labour because he makes money on the part. Instead of charging $180 for a 2 hr estimated repair call, he would charge $240 and he wouldn't have to do any running around to pick up the part. The night before the apt, we get a call saying the guy can't come Monday, have to reschedule for Thursday. Okay fine, shit happens. Guy shows up Thursday and there's negative attitude from the get go, apparently because we never should have ordered the part ourselves. He asks how we installed the "parts". My wife explains that there was 1 assembly, not multiple parts. Answer not good enough. He actually starts arguing with my wife IN MY HOUSE. Mr "I've fixed 600 dishwashers" doesn't know that you can get one complete sump assembly (we got ours from Regional Factory Parts & Service on Antares). By this point, my wife is completely stressed. He tells her that there's a minimum $250 charge. Okaaay, nobody told us that when we made the appointment; only that there's a $75 fee to have somebody show up and that the $75 will offset the final price if we approve the repair. So now they already have $75 of our money. We've been washing dishes by hand for 6 weeks and just want the thing fixed ...so she tells him to go ahead. Turns out the problem was that we hadn't treated the gasket ring with dishwasher soap so poor seal. Who knew? Guy reassembles in 1/2 hr and dishwasher working. So, with tax, it's just cost us $282 (incl tax) for half hour of work. So why am I giving these guys 1 star? 1 reason: shit customer experience. If I had known that there was a flat $250 fee when I first called, and given that I don't need any new parts, I would have called someone else. Comically, the manager I spoke to afterward told me it would have been more expensive if I had gone with someone that charges hourly rate. So there's appliance repair joints charging $500+ /hr? I was born at night but it wasn't last night. Add to that the unwelcome blowback from the technician and, needless to say, we will never do business with ARB again. Couple of pro tips, guys: 1) the customer is always right, 2) when the customer is wrong, see #1.

Zuher quickly assessed the problem with a old model, malfunctioning machine (Another sewing machine repair shop could not figure out the problem and wanted to charge nearly $100 just to open the machine and figure out the problem!) Zuher followed through and the machine was in full working order when he said it would be. We ultimately decided to buy a new machine based on the general wear and deterioration of the old machine, and Zuher waived the repair fee!
