Mind you I think neither my middle aged mother or I look like we would shoplift anything but I understand for sure if that's their store policy. However there's always a way to be kind and polite to a customer and she DEFINITELY did not know how to do that. She had dark hair and was probably in her teens or early 20s. Maybe she just needs some more sales training but overall we were left feeling extremely uncomfortable and didn't end up buying anything. My experience wasn't good but I want to try again since the store is adorable and their products seem great :)

Starting out in the corner shop where the previous owners ran it, it eventually grew to the Mecca it is today. Situated on right on Main St. The Rangeley builders supply has it ALL! Ample parking for all, the parking lot is your first opportunity to shop. One end of the building has home decor, the hardware store has outdoor furniture and BBQ,s and the lumber yard on the other end has gardening and landscaping needs up front. Upon walking in there is much natural light coming from the windows of the vaulted ceiling. Sale items then the service counter with two lanes to help. The store is AMAZING recently renovated to maximize space, they have sections for everything which makes finding what you need easier. They have tools by most manufacturers manual and power, canning section, BBQ/Cast iron section, pest control, plumbing, electrical, painting, hardware and accessories. Novelty items too, reading and sunglasses reasonably priced. While walking around taking pictures I was approached by the current manager, the son-in-law to the owners! Was wondering why someone was taking pictures of his store? Told him I was telling a friend about his business and wanted to show them everything they had to offer. He was happy to hear. I was sharing the news about his business. The home goods store has decor needs covered; from bedding and table settings to rugs and mugs as well as local artists paintings for sale. They also offer handbags and dried flowers to create your own bouquet! Happy to see the family still active and serving the Rangeley community. I messaged Seth (@rangeleyadventureco on IG), and the communication was fantastic -- quick, helpful, and super easy to book. We met Seth at the Rangeley Adventure Company store on 7 Pond Street -- definitely worth checking out for gear and gifts! From there, we followed him on a short 10-minute drive to a launch spot in Oquossoc that we never would have found on our own. We paddled up the Kennebago River and back down into the Cupsuptic -- the perfect route on a beautiful day. Along the way, Seth shared some local history (including cool info about old boat hulls around the lake), spotted wildlife for us (we saw a heron multiple times!), and made the whole experience fun, safe, and relaxed. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and great with our kids. This 3-hour tour ended up being one of the top highlights of our 10 days in Rangeley.
