We reserved two other "Mom & Pops" rentals in Talkeetna and Homer and walked in and then out! They were literally covered in spider webbing, carpet was so sketch I was afraid to go barefoot. We ended up staying at lodges instead, where for the same or similar prices we stayed in luxury. Walked into Sea Treasures and was so thrilled with how charming, clean and welcoming the Inn was. Seward is in a high-alert state with Covid-19 and due to that the continental breakfast mentioned by other reviewers was not available. Check in was contactless and easy. Parking in the alley for the the rooms isn't quite big enough if you're in a bigger SUV or truck. I loved reading through the extremely guidebook in laminated pages. A lot of the maps and articles were from the late 90s which was entertaining and cute.

I'm…read moresitting here with COVID going through a long "to-do" list of things I've always meant to check-off so, here I am, reviewing this place. First the good: The A-frames are fantastically built and appointed. They look like they were built more to be photographed for the latest social media app than they were built to be lived in. The location is incredible, it's easy to walk right on down to the beach. The bad: This place has a very, very odd tone. On one hand, the business talks about community and integrating into the community. On the other hand, it charges $450/night with a 2-night minimum? It really takes a privileged person to be able to afford $900 for a weekend, probably not someone from the community. On top of that, you are expected to do little "chores" around the A-frames...or risk paying even more. Seriously. This place is priced like a luxury hotel but has chores like a $20/night hostel. Very confusing and conflicting vibes. The views: when we were there, the views from the A-frame were of other cabins...under construction. So we mainly had views of white sheets of TYVEK. You are really, really close to the other A-frame. You are forced to get friendly. Depending on who is in the other A-frame this could be really good or really bad. Again, an odd thing for $900. I was lucky enough that my girlfriend surprised me with a night here for my birthday. The only way she could afford it is because she begged to do one night only, and they also gave us a slight discount because of the TYVEK views. It's great if you can afford it, just make sure you do all your chores. For those of us that are used to sleeping on public lands (the owners include themselves in this lot)...this is only good for a one-time splurge and even then...your $900 might be better spent on a plane ticket to somewhere else.

Harborview Inn was a good, no-frills option for our one night in Seward. We paid about $210 after…read moretaxes and fees for a room with two extra-long double beds (felt like a full size). The location was great, close to both the harbor and downtown, and the area felt safe. The room itself was basic/ a little outdated but clean, tidy, and functional, with a quaint log cabin feel that fit right in with Alaska. The beds were comfortable, the sheets and bedding were clean and decent quality, and having a mini fridge and microwave was super convenient. No free breakfast or snacks, so plan accordingly. The best part was the front desk. This is a family-run place, and they were incredibly nice, personable, and accommodating. Just keep in mind that the office has limited hours, so if you're arriving past check-in time of 8 pm, definitely contact them beforehand to let them know. A couple quirks: you can hear the water sounds pretty loudly when someone upstairs is showering, and when I tried to shower around 8 PM, there was barely any hot water left. It seemed like the other guests had used most of it, so I had to wait a bit. There were also plenty of birds making themselves known early in the morning, but I sleep with earplugs anyway, so Alaska's unofficial wake-up call didn't bother me. For a short stay in Seward, it did the job well.

After spending 5+ days here, we'd definitely plan to stay here again for our next visit to the area. The cabins sit a mile or two outside of town, which helped give you a break from the tourist chaos that Seward can be in peak season. It was a quiet and relaxing retreat while still being close enough to town to be convenient. The manager/owner, Danny, always kept a good line of communication open throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed. Customer service is something that they take seriously, which is always good to see. We stayed in the Eagles Nest cabin which was a studio style unit. For my wife and I, it was a cozy spot without being too cramped. They also have an onsite laundry facility and an outdoor firepit which we used a couple time while there. Overall, this is a great spot to stay at for the price and the secluded feeling it gives. Alaska wouldn't have been the same if we had stayed in a cramped hotel room. If you get a chance, check out IdidaRide dog sledding tours down the street from the cabins. It's owned by the same family, and it was an awesome experience.

It was the perfect balance for us - the grocery store was a few minutes away, yet we were in the wild. We stayed at the Eagles-nest cabin. It had a full kitchen, dish network TV and a nice shower - I couldn't ask for more. Even our iPhones picked up signal - not too shabby at all! Our GPS lost the route, but it was day time, and we could figure out the way. If you're driving to these cabins in the dark, you gotto watch where you are going since the last mile is just a dirt road.

An unexpected treat was that they served free hand-dipped (in chocolate and rolled in toppings) gourmet ice cream bars in the evenings, and even at the shack they run in Seward. Margie is a great cook and makes delicious breakfasts (loved the waffles) and you will have the privilege to taste Pat's delicious ice creams every day. Angels Rest is located on Lowell Point just 2 miles down the dirt road form Seward and is an amazing place to get away for the weekend. My wife and I got engaged there early last year and just recently went back. We stayed in the Wing Cabin both times and just loved it. It had a great little kitchen and 2 rocking chairs in from of the two large windows overlooking the bay and the mountains. The binoculars are a great treat for watching the sea life play just off shore. Don't forget to bring a book!! It is real close to town and it's really not that far from Safeway. They offer a 5% discount for paying in cash. The bed was extremely comfortable too!! The cabins were very clean and the kitchen has enough plates, silverware, and cooking utensils for making what ever floats your boat. The kitchen also has a small fridge and they also provide a cooler to use. On the deck there is a gas BBQ grill and each cabin has it's own fire pit outside for use when warm enough. I believe they also sell ice and firewood if you forget yours. They are very good about getting back to you quickly if they are not able to answer the phone. We spent four nights in the Gatehouse Cabin at Angel's Rest in late June. The cabin has a…read morekitchenette with mini fridge, two burner gas stove, toaster and microwave. There are lots of great restaurant options in Seward, but it's so nice to be able to make your own breakfasts in your jammies. The kitchenette also came in handy for dinner one night, after we picked up fresh salmon near the pier at Capt Jack's. The cabin is surrounded by plants and trees that make it feel cozy and private, even though there are other cabins around it - so much nicer than staying in a hotel with hordes of other tourists surrounded by parking lots. There's a porch with fantastic water views, a small grill and two chairs. We picked up firewood and marshmallows for the firepit out front, which has a small bench. The stony beach is populated with ducks, gulls and cormorants tottering around the tidepools. On our last night we saw three eagles fishing, a sea otter lounging in the surf, and a harbor seal swim by. There were beautiful, tiny hummingbirds that visited the feeders on the porch every day. A number of kayak rental places dotted the road toward Lowell Point State Rec park - which is a short walk down the beach, and has some great hikes. Paul and Lynda have provided a wealth of information in a binder on tons of hikes and scenic drives all over the area, and well as recommendations for dining, tours, etc. The cabin is artistic-rustic-style, with pine ceilings and handmade headboard, but far more comfortable than we expected. The lovely accommodations and setting, coupled with the hosts' attention to detail and quick response to questions, make this the perfect place for your visit to the Kenai peninsula.
