I received two £60 vouchers for Nikki Ips restaurant as a Christmas gift in 2023, totalling £120…read more We used one voucher in February and spent around £50. When we asked if we could have the remaining £10 as a voucher for our next visit, Stefan, the manager, was completely unhelpful and insisted we had to spend it all in one go. We ended up buying a drink just to use up the balance and left disappointed. We planned to use the second voucher for our anniversary in August 2024, only to discover it had expired in June 2024--just six months after it was issued! When I called the restaurant and unfortunately spoke to Stefan again, he bluntly informed me there was nothing they could do. He mentioned that other customers had recently called with the same issue, claiming it would have been explained when the voucher was purchased. I found this hard to believe since I had bought vouchers for my parents around the same time, and no such restriction was mentioned. It feels like Nikki Ips is scamming customers with these short expiry dates, and Stefan's dismissive attitude only made the situation worse. I've never encountered a restaurant voucher with such a limited time frame, and it seems like many others have been caught out by this tactic. I would strongly advise avoiding this restaurant--especially if you have to deal with Stefan, who is as unhelpful as they come. Save your money and spend it somewhere that values its customers and doesn't play games with their vouchers.

Nikki Ips is a Chinese restaurant but don't expect spring rolls, prawn crackers or all you can eat…read morebuffets. This place offers more authentic chinese food than the usual chow mein and chop sueys offered elsewhere albeit at a price. A word of warning - try to avoid the ground floor in the Winter. Whenever the front door opens you'll get a blast of cold air so you'll be much more comfortable upstairs. The food is excellent, good quality ingredients and well prepared and the portions are generous enough. All in all this is a decent place to eat but it is pricey (and don't ask if they do prawn crackers!).

Plonked in the middle of the commercial district for work, there was no way I could find my way…read morearound Liverpool on this visit. With this, I let my colleagues decide on the after-work drinking spot; there was nothing I could recommend without the feeling that it was probably a good 30 minute walk away. So, we walked across the road and I was introduced to City Wine Bar, probably one of the only nice looking bars within this area. It's all very rustic, quite small - so I can imagine it being rammed on a Friday - with a really nice atmosphere. Service was a little bit slow, but I took this as an opportunity to take in my surroundings. We had a few glasses of wine, which were very nice for the house choices, and I was told great things about the cocktails and food. If you're in this part of Liverpool for business or pleasure, City Wine Bar is a fine destination.

What can I say about this place apart from you really need to go! The food was absolutely amazing…read moreand I cannot wait to visit it again! The cocktails were fabulous too and oh boy I cannot wait to order one, two or maybe more of those! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and it was simply a joy to visit. Admittedly when I first entered the place I did have my doubts, but as the saying goes, you should never judge a book by it's cover! Although the place could be considered rustic, that in itself has a wonderful charm to it and I seriously advise you to take a trip and visit it! You can either try to park close by on the one way street, although then of course you would miss out on trying any of their wonderful cocktails; I strongly recommend the fabulous City Sunset btw! Or if you wish to have a drink, then Moorfields station is close by (just make sure you exit on Old Hall Street, unlike me!) Honestly though; the friendliness, the food (major congrats to the charming chef btw!) was superb, in fact my starter was almost orgasmic and boy does the food have to be excellent to get me to say that! It is a shame that more people have yet to discover this place and although part of me would love to keep this fabulously wonderful place to myself, it is too incredibly good for me to be so selfish. Therefore get yourself down to Old Hall Street and into this place and enjoy great food and smashing drinks!
