So long story short, I was so excited to hear that the Star Inn was being refurbished and…read morereopening! Great, right? Unfortunately not great! I had a pretty good impression as I walked up to this cute little pub, then I was even more impressed with the new inside. Great, right? Unfortunately that's where the good impressions stopped with a hard slap in the face of racism. I heard the most horrible, hate word vomit coming out of someone. I was shocked! They were talking about not buying halal bread because she didn't want to support "those people" on any level (by the way, most bread is technically halal anyways the blatant ignorance!). The this woman started on a loud rant about immigrants and how they all need to be deported because they are trying to impose their shiria law on people and nothing more than child groomers or selling drugs. Then she began hate vomiting towards all of the barber shops and other businesses that "those people" have... she was basically accusing them all of child grooming and pedaling drugs (which is really funny because two of the people that were in there I know sell drugs). Now imagine my horror went I realized that this horrible woman was actually the OWNER!!! I am an English born Muslim woman. Have I ever sold drugs? No I haven't! Have I ever even thought of trafficking children? Ummm definitely not!!! Do I shove my beliefs down other people's throats? Nope. Am I employed? Yes. Do I pay taxes to the British government? Of course!! So unless you enjoy your mediocre to bad food with a huge dose of hatred and racism, I definitely would not recommend giving the Star Inn your business!

Enjoyed a great Sunday roast and cheesecake a few weeks ago and came away feeling very satisfied…read more The service was very good and I like the pub's warm atmosphere - will definitely look forward to a autumn/winter visit!

Excellent! Service was great. Our waitresses were very attentive, knew the menu, and made great…read morerecommendations. The food was fabulous. The pan fried crispy duck was outstanding (so was the sticky toffee pudding!) My tablemates were equally satisfied with the baked cod and the pork belly. Highly recommended!

A lovely restaurant in a picturesque village location…read more We're a family of 4 Vegans and we ate at Y Sgwâr yesterday evening. We only booked a few hours in advance of our reservation but as the owner is Vegan herself they were not fazed in the slightest by our dietary requirements and we were given a number of options for each course when we arrived. Starters: We had the tomato tart and soup. Both were lovely and there was a choice of two Vegan soups which came with bread and dairy free spread. Main Course: We had the Thai vegetable green curry with a dhaal side and the pancake. The curry itself and the side of dhaal were great. Both really flavoursome and tasty. The pancake was fantastic and was served as a burrito with mushrooms, spinach, couscous and other delights inside. I had it with rice but you can have chips or rosemary & lemon potatoes instead. Dessert: Not that we had much room for dessert after the excellent starter and main course! We all had the chocolate cake was absolutely wonderful! Moist with lots of tasty chocolate icing on top. Apparently it's always Vegan too. They gave us the option of either whipped soya cream (which we chose) or sorbet to accompany it. There were also lots of Vegan wines marked clearly on the menu. All in all a super meal in a lovely environment, served by great staff. Highly recommended. We will be going back regularly.
