This was our first time coming in and we weren't disappointed. I ordered 2 scoops in a waffle dish: the 3 Leches and gansito. Oh so good! The wife Googled an ice cream shop and La Fresa popped up. So we hopped in the car and drove over. We arrived right before closing time with all of my daughter's soccer team. The outside looked kind of rough, and the surrounding neighborhood looked a little sketch. We did not let that stop us from walking in. Don't let that deter you. We walked in, and the line was to the door. Definitely a good sign. Looking around the decor was dated, but festive. A menu hung on the wall with many different tasty treats. It was exactly what I expected of a mom and pop shop. Tables were limited, so I was hoping to have a seat. We stepped up to the counter and perused the menu. My kiddos ordered a scoop of their desired flavor, while the wife and I ordered a banana split to share. It had been quite a minute since I have had a good banana split. We ordered it with the traditional flavors of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Also got the nuts, whipped cream, cherry, the works. We paid our fee, snagged a table, and got to work on it. The line continued to grow, so we were lucky to snag a spot. It was absolutely delicious. The vanilla was not your traditional vanilla, but was a Mexican vanilla. I'm generally not a fan of it due to the cinnamon like taste, but I was digging it. It all was very delicious, and very creamy. We loved everything about it. The kiddos loved theirs as well. Very delicious. While we were eating our ice cream one of the vagrants from outside walked in. This fella was bold and started begging everyone in line all the way up to the cash register. Very bold on his part. We were sort of surprised the establishment did not run him out of there. Hopefully next time they do. Nonetheless, this did not take anything away from this place. Definitely worth the trip. The desserts were delicious, and the time with my family was memorable. It put a cherry on top of a ready great trip to Corpus Christi. Highly recommend this place. We will be back the next time we come to Corpus. Enjoy!

I Yelp'ed on the iPhone; I first found a cajun restaurant that seemed well recommended (the others around it were not), but could not find the location of it. So Plan B, found Dot'z and the exterior looked cute like a 50's dinerish place on the beach. Ordering was a little tricky, it's up on the wall but you can combine things you see on the wall. Wait staff was alright, not overly eager to serve, but not rude or disrespectful. You order and it takes maybe 5-10 mins to get a meal out. The ice cream also looked good, but did not sample any on this go around. I went with the chicken sandwich to try and stay a little healthy in this haven of beach food. Came very plain jane. I don't recall if it had mushrooms on it or not, but I distinctly remember thinking I paid for this?!? It had the appearance of fast food burger joint, not trendy little place on the beach. They have small inside seating but if a few folks are there, they have a covered patio area that is a good break from the sun. No fans or ventialtion that I recall outside. They also have a nice playground right outside if you need to occupy the kids in a safe place while you eat. Overall, I wanted to like the charm of the place, but could just not get into it. Thus, 3 stars.

I also wished they offered more ice cream flavors, other than vanilla, to mix with the Italian ice.

We needed lunch anyway, so we stopped in at Blackbeards. I would describe this place as a seafood dive bar. It has an extensive menu with great choices for anyone looking for a certain kind of seafood. I was looking for fried shrimp. My son was looking for fried oysters. Each of them were available with several options. I got a plate that had three fried shrimp, three coconut shrimp, and three fried oysters. Had I known how huge the shrimp would be, I would have left off the oysters. I was really stuffed after eating all of that. Everything was really good, but the coconut shrimp dipped in the accompanying sweet lemon butter sauce were AMAZING. My son had the fried oyster plate. They were his first, and he was disappointed. He really liked them, but he was hoping they would taste more like fresh oysters on the half shell. I guess I should have prepared him for the total transformation. The servers were very helpful and friendly. They all seemed to really like their jobs. If you have to work, why not do it at a beach side restaurant?
