I realized about 8 weeks Postpartum that my body would never be the same. I had naively thought prior to my pregnancy that after you had a baby, your body naturally would slip back into "normal" and you'd feel at home in your skin with enough time. But that is not the case. I quickly realized that in addition to my belly skin feeling "two sizes too big," I had lost strength in muscles I used to rely on. My abs had simply melted away and doing a kegel suddenly felt impossible. I peed when I sneezed and I couldn't prevent it, even as I clenched everything south of the border.   Enter Sneha. With the first appointment she showed me what a kegel was supposed to feel like (not the glute tightening variety I was doing) and she identified my worst habit. Clenching everything so tightly in anticipation BEFORE the sneeze meant that my pelvic floor couldn't even try to engage. In five appointments (and a whole lot of homework), I reset my pelvic floor and learned how to strengthen it. Sneha and I started with very isolated movements and then slowly built up to incorporating pelvic floor awareness into yoga moves that I was using everyday. She even gave me activities that I could do on the floor while playing with my daughter. Sneha was kind, patient and oh so understanding. I always felt like I could be honest- even when it was about not doing my homework! Not only am I no longer peeing when I sneeze but I've gained a whole new understanding of how to use my postpartum body. It takes a lot of hard work to birth a baby but it's worth a bit more homework to retrain your body so that it serves you through motherhood. read more

I was referred to this PT through a mother's group and I am so glad I did. After childbirth, I had some major pelvic floor changes. The OB said I would need surgery, but I couldn't believe there wasn't anything I could do. Luckily, Dr. Sneha came to my rescue and, through several in-home sessions, gave me the exercises to improve my pelvic floor and thoroughly explained everything. This better understanding of my body has actually made me change the entire way I move my body - all in a better way! Even 1.5 years post partum, I was still having issues that I realized needed help. I had a great experience working with Sneha and highly, highly recommend her. We did pelvic floor PT for a few weeks during late pregnancy and also a few weeks postpartum (a mix of home care and telehealth). I felt prepared for labor (she taught me physiological tips for pushing and perineal massage), and after my unexpected, emergency C-section, Sneha gave me amazing care and instruction for scar massage. By 6 months postpartum, my C-section scar was pale and thin (no pooch or bump)! I also never had any issues with leakage. Her instruction for Kegels was super helpful, and I continue to do the exercises regularly (with thanks from my husband as well). She also gave us helpful tips for preventing new parent neck, shoulder, and back pain while caring for our baby. All of her tips and PT exercises are straightforward, and she makes sure that you can fit them into your life, which was extra helpful when I had an awkward pregnant belly, painful and unexpected C-section incision, and was first learning to be a mom. In addition to pregnancy and postpartum support, Sneha helped me work on some lingering/reactivated issues from my marathon running days and helped me plan my postpartum return to running. Sneha was so helpful for my postpartum recovery. Having had an episiotomy, I had trouble bouncing back with even simple movements like walking. Sneha gave me the tools and exercises I could do to help me properly heal, and now I feel like my pre-pregnancy self. Dr. Gazi has truly helped me heal my pain. I had a pretty intense case of pelvic muscle issues that I had been treated by another PT in another city during the pandemic. When I moved back to NYC, I really needed some more PT to fully get my pain to a reasonable level, but I was still in a position where walking and taking the subway to a midtown doctor's office was not only painful for me, but also scary considering the COVID-19 vaccine wasn't widely available yet. Dr. Gazi was able to come to my own apartment in Brooklyn for our PT sessions, and her COVID protocols for our home-visit physical therapy sessions were top notch. NYC women at wit's end with pelvic pain, you may need Sneha Gazi's skills as badly as I did: For as far back as I can recall, I've experienced sudden episodes of excruciating, incapacitating, un-/over-/mis-diagnosed pain in my pelvic region. Episodes can last days...or longer: one lasted over a year. This Mystery Pain has affected every aspect of my life and led to a surgery six years ago that helped, but did not cure the underlying issue. My situation is far from unique. Thanks to the Internet, women of all colors and classes share stories from around the world that read remarkably like mine. Living with Mystery Pain is misery, and many of us do it silently; it's not a sexy topic to discuss. After decades of expensive, upsetting - sometimes experimental, often invasive - ultimately insufficient treatment from gynecologists, urologists, urogynecologists, neurologists, rheumatologists (all covered, at least in part, by my insurance*), I crossed paths with Sneha Gazi. A physical therapist and fellow yoga instructor, Sneha believed she could alleviate my symptoms substance-free AND teach me to prevent AND EVEN SUPPRESS MY OWN PAIN moving forward - also substance-free. (!!!!!?!!!!!!) (YES, PLEASE.) Over a handful of one-hour, in-home sessions, Sneha Gazi accomplished what countless doctors in five cities couldn't: she gave me back control over my body and, as a result, control over more of my life. For my first session, Sneha treated me exactly as she found me: in agonizing pain, on my apartment floor. (Transit is a tragically impossible ask for women in this state.) My treatment sessions with Sneha entailed: (1) talking/issue spotting; (2) massage - both external and internal; (3) stretches and exercises (more traditional PT), Sneha teaching/watching/correcting form as-needed; (4) talking/treatment plan. My (continued) treatment plan involves daily mantras, visualization, and breathing exercises - in addition to more traditional physical therapy "homework." Sneha is a professional of the highest caliber who treats bodies with dignity and respect. I never felt uncomfortable being at my worst around Sneha (and I have been); being in my own home helped considerably. (My home is a humble 1BR apartment in Manhattan; treatment occurred in my living room.) Sneha is an excellent listener and issue spotter, her instructions and treatment plans are insightful and clear. Also - and this merits its own paragraph: Sneha's hands are second-to-none. She has a gift. On the issue of finances, Sneha's goal from the outset is patient independence: though tremendously supportive, she is eager to see patients NOT need her continued treatment. (She even trained my partner to assist me mid-episode - which means I now have live-in care! Already, this has saved thousands of dollars.) To be clear: since working with Sneha, my issues have not vanished. This isn't magic, and it requires daily work on the patient's end. BUT: what was once days (or years) of my life spent stuck on a floor is now minutes - hours at most. Sneha's treatment changed my life. Her work is worth the investment and I give her my highest recommendation. *My insurance does not cover Sneha's treatment - which speaks to the pitiful state of American insurance, not at all to Sneha's abilities. read more

Sneha is truly an expert in her field. She has treated my family - me, my two teenagers, husband and my elderly mother. Dr. Gazi has treated us for knee injuries, posture issues, sports injuries for my son (elbow and ankle) and my husband's wrist pain. Dr. Gazi built an easy exercise program with my mother that resulted in a a tremendous improvement in her strength, mobility and flexibility.
