But I think they used real Thai iced tea leaves to make it cuz there were little flakes that none of the other flavors had. My bf got satsuma and passion fruit. That was so tropical and citrus-y yum. And then I tried his sister's strawberry shortcake which tasted like the strawberry shortcake ice cream - delicious. The watermelon flavor also tasted just like watermelon. I loved how all the flavors didn't taste artificial at all. There's a line but it went pretty fast. You can see a lot of the photos inside from the 1950s to now - felt very old school.

You can not go to New Orleans without trying Hansens at least once. If you are local, its a really nice place to visit the evening of a hot day. I have tried the root beer, chocolate, cream of coconut, strawberry and spearmint. All have been tasty. For about $8-10 you can get a snow ball with a pineapple and cherry. For about $12-13 you can get marshmallow on top and I highly recommend this for the experience. Its typically a longer line but its part of the experience. When you go inside, its like a blast from the past. You are gonna have syrup all over the souvenir cup and all. They have many choices to choose from.

Everybody always says Hansen's is the best, but I'm sorry... they just can't compete with Chance in Hell, no matter what anyone says. Handcrafted syrups, quality ingredients, and that ice... listen. If you're really from New Orleans, you KNOW the difference between a snoball and a snow cone. That ice is so fine, so soft, it literally melts in your mouth. You really be like, "What ICE?!" It's up there, for real. And the space? Baby... it's a whole experience. Perfectly curated to their brand. Very show-stopping, very show girl, all the drama in the best way. It's beautiful, it's fun, it's a vibe. It is more on the pricier side. With the quality of the Snoball. The difference is in the details. Honestly, they're one of the main reasons we surviving this heat. There really is a Chance in Hell lol.

I am used to snowballs being somewhat fine chunks of ice that have a ton of syrup glazed over it and maybe some bites have too much syrup or not enough syrup. And sometimes if I'm in the mood might have some marshmallows so this might give you an idea of where I'm from but the snowballs a chance in hell snowballs were on a whole different level. The ice is so fine the moment it touches your tongue it literally just melts. I opted for the Ube flavor in typically because of the syrup, I usually get more thirsty after I'm done eating snowballs, but with this one, it was so refreshing. I can only imagine the sensation if I were eating this on a hot summer day. They had some unique flavors and my husband my mother-in-law and I all got different flavors that we tried each other others and I can't say anything wrong about any of them. They were well balanced somehow the savory flavors worked as a dessert and I can't wait till the next time I can go back. Something I learned on this trip is that snowballs here are available from Mardi Gras until around Halloween so just something for you to note if you are traveling, but I was told that they do pop-ups here and there a little outside of the season. Their overall service was amazing. They are very friendly, very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. So if you're in the area, I highly recommend.

I just…read morehappened to be in Bay St. Louis Mississippi today and was meeting my in laws at a local casino RV park, as it was their inaugural trip in their new ride. As I turned off Hwy 90 onto Bluemeadow Rd., a "snowball" sign caught my eye, and I made an immediate mental note to stop there on the way home. Well, time passed, as time does, and it was now time to sample a Mississippi Gulf Coast snowball. The stand is painted in bright pink and aqua colors, so it definitely stands out on the side of the road. As I walked up the stairs to the service counter, I saw a small sign hanging on the "porch" that stated "BUCKTOWN". I thought to myself that this was an interesting sign for a snowball stand in Bay St. Louis. Anyway, I was greeted by a friendly man at the window who introduced himself as the owner, Paule. Paule even installed a small set of kiddie stairs on the porch so that the kids can see over the counter and watch him make their snowballs. I told him that I had Yelped snowballs in the Bay St. Louis area, but my search results did not reveal anything. I asked if he wouldn't mind if I took a few pictures so I could post them on Yelp. "What's Yelp", he stated. I told him all about Yelp and how that back in New Orleans, I had actually done 12 reviews on snowball stands, as my wife loved snowballs. Paule told me that he was originally from Bucktown (hence the sign) and had lived in New Orleans (Lakeview) until he moved and opened up Paule's snoballs and snow shakes in 1993. I ordered a dreamsicle as it was one of my favorites. The texture of the ice was a little coarse but not so much as to call it a shaved ice. And even though I am a fan of velvety smooth ice, this texture actually worked for me, as it melted pretty quickly once you started to eat it. The dreamsicle syrup was tasty, without being too thick or "syrupy"; and it left no lingering aftertaste. It was just cool and refreshing. As I sampled my dreamsicle and gathered some basic info for my Yelp review, Paul advised me that the "specialty of the house" was his snow shakes. He advised me that it was a blended snowball (yeah, in a blender) with the addition of evaporated milk, and perhaps a secret ingredient that I was not aware of. Since snow shakes was his specialty, I got a dreamsicle snow shake so I could compare it to the dreamsicle snowball. Well, there is no comparison, as snow shakes rule. The snow shake is served in a shake/malt type cup with a lid and a straw, as no spoon is needed. I took a huge sip, and was immediately rewarded with a smooth, creamy styled snowball/milk shake hybrid that was delicious. You get the initial taste of the dreamsicle, followed by the creamy taste and texture of the evaporated milk and with just a small amount if shaved ice texture such as you'd get in a smoothie. What a great concept. The best thing about the snow shakes is you can get right back in your car without having to worry about spilling any since you do not need to use a spoon. This place is a great hidden gem just off of Hwy 90. I'm glad that Yelpers in the area will now have a link to a great snowball stand.
