No fall is complete without a trip to Sneads. We have been coming here every year since our daughter was born and it never disappoints. They have so much to offer- sunflowers, pumpkins, mountain slide, animals, and lots of play areas for the kids. The prices are great compared to some of the other local places with a steep price tag. It is a hike to the pumpkin patch but they offer carts and a hay ride. We look forward to going back every year. read more

It's been a few years but we went back to Sneads for the fall festival and it's changed slightly so I had to take off a star. My kids love it here though, they thoroughly enjoy the slides, sandboxes and all the little play areas. They used to have better food options with beer, sad that went away. And they also used to have a little shop where you could buy apple cider and butternut squashes, etc. and the pumpkin patches are now all moved to the very back of the farm, except for the jumbo pumpkins which are right up front. Gotta say it's still fun but miss the small details which made it that much better. read more

I just happened to be looking for a Fall Farm to take my one year old and parents/brother to so we decided to come here! We were fortunate to come for the soft opening $5 weekend and this is probably the best farm I've been to. So much to see and do and I just loved roaming around to the different sections, had lunch by the mountain slides at a picnic table, their family dog was adorable and had lunch with us , horses, sunflower fields, barns, beautiful flower gardens, just so peaceful and so many photo opportunities. I love how they charge a flat fee for large/small pumpkins so there is no guessing game on the cost. read more

Been going to Sneads for about 17 years. They have steady gotten more expensive, and that's fine. I get that they want to stay competitive with Belvedere. But today, my wife was trying to talk to Farmer Snead about a dog that someone had left locked in a metal box in the bed of their truck. The dog was barking the whole time and she just wanted to discuss it with him. He was rude, dismissive, and basically a dick. Because of his attitude, I will gladly spend the extra money and go to Belvedere from now on. read more

The farm itself is super nice and has plenty for children but we found it VERY hard to enjoy ourselves because we spent the entire time fighting off bees, i have never in my life seen so many at once and we could not escape them, it was crazy! I finally joined Snead's Farm CSA this year after years of contemplating whether it would be a good idea for a single adult and I'm so glad I joined. Emmet Snead is a lovely, joyful man and I was able to join the CSA at a half share and prorated since I joined in June vs. early season. Now I love going out to pick up my half share which is increasingly loaded with veg, eggs, fruit and I get to pick my own sunflowers, raspberries, blackberries, plumcots, peaches as they mature and ripen. I got so many I had to freeze half and I'm a big healthy eater, trying to eat healthier - Snead's Farm is making that happen. The farmland is hundreds of acres so there's plenty to host more people joining. The farm has lots of garden play places designed uniquely for both children and adults. Everyone is happy and helpful and it's a joy to come out to Sneads Farm. On the odd Wednesday day of the week when I cannot make it out there Snead's can send my CSA box to my local farmer market on Sunday. I will definitely be joining this CSA next year too. Dogs are welcome but be sure to scoop up after them, Snead's provides bags for that too. read more

This review is for their CSA. Even though we understand that the weather was not favorable to growers this year, they really fell down in about least two areas: 1 - the quality and quantity of what we received was generally poor, even though they had lots of prime produce at the farm stand. For example, the potatoes were all buggy including maggots (unuseable). The peaches were so unripe they were unusable. A CSA "share" is supposed to be for a family of four but you may get get only one or two pieces of produce in any week. 2 - the value that they assigned to the produce was at least double what competitive growers would charge. The share cost about $800 for a season but we estimate we got only about half that in value and they estimate it at over a $1,000. There were some interesting items and we enjoyed the eggs but I'd stay away for a few years until they reconfigure their approach. read more

We have been going to Sneads for about 10 years. I couldn't believe it cost us $60 for 4 people at the gate. It really isn't worth that much money. They used to sell feed for the chickens but they don't anymore. My boys used to love to hold a chicken but that is no longer allowed. And they have taken down several of the swings which was our favorite. It's less expensive than Belvedere but if I'm already spending that much money I would like to have more options. read more

The trees are fine. Some variety. Any tree no matter the size is $95 and it is $5 a head to just get in to look at them, I have been cutting down my own tree for a long time and have never had that happen. There are things for little kids to do but not older kids. They do not shake the dead needles out but they do put the net on. No one helps you put it truck. read more

Best place to go pumpkin picking! Only $5 a car on the weekends. Weekdays are free. Pick your own pumpkin $6. Real working farm...you and the kids will have a blast. Pet the horses, llamas, cows, a calf, a sheep and goats. Feed the chickens and see the chicks. Run from barn to barn, swing on the swings and try the zip line. Come back in December for your Christmas tree and then all summer for produce! The whole family loves Sneads Farm. read more

My family and I had the best time at the farm!! We spent 4 hrs there eating lunch and playing. Payed $8 per person to get in which apparently includes a hayride. We ate a delicious lunch there which included hot dogs, amazing chili, and burgers. There are fun play areas everywhere you turn! My son is 11 and he and his friend ran around just being boys playing in the creek and swinging from rope swings. All the animals are very relaxed and friendly. To top off our fun day we picked up a dozen hot apple cider donuts right out of the fryer. I'd go back every weekend if I could! Definitely check them out. Happy fall y'all. read more

I give this place two stars because they are quiet and its a pretty farm; however, upon our arrival, the lady we paid for parking took my card swiped it then warned us that there weren't many pumpkins left. I thought that was wrong to warn us after taking our money. The place was super muddy and it was difficult for my pregnant wife to make it up the hill to the actual pumpkin patch. On the way I slipped in the mud covering myself in filth and triggering my bad back. We got to the top and started looking for pumpkins and there was not one orange pumpkin that wasn't busted open and rotting. Granted its only 4 days til Halloween so I wasn't expecting much, but had I known before paying admission I'd have turned around and left. I will not be returning next year. read more

This was the worst experience ever!!!!! The "management" and "ownership" here is absolutely off their rockers crazy. We drove over a hour to get here and after we paid we asked about handicap parking, which we were driven to, and I will say that the space was great. With that being said, really the only thing we came for was the hayride. I have a 20 month old and a 3 month old who had strollers. We came last year and the set up was different, so we asked where the hayrides were. We were told "in the back field" by the girl on the golf cart that drove us to the handicap space. Let me tell you where the back field is, you have to cross a bridge and walk up a VERY steep hill, remember, my mother is handicap. She can only walk on flatter surfaces. On our way out, since the hayride was out of the question, we stopped to talk to the girl who neglected to mention those very important details. My mom was talking to her slightly annoyed, but in no way mean or disrespectful, when a blonde off her meds lunatic interjected and said how rude and mean she was being and did we want her to get the owner to which I said absolutely, if you aren't the owner then you can stop talking. So she goes and gets the "ignorant farmer" (his words not mine) and when my mom was explaining what happened he said "you can drive back there ", but I had already packed my kids up, which was stressful in itself. We politely declined and that's when he said that's your choice, so you can go ahead a leave. Excuse me??? He then asked me what was I looking up on my phone, excuse me again!?! I let him know that was NONE OF HIS BUSINESS. My mom continued to talk to him, but he started raising his voice saying "Are you looking me up to see that I don't give refunds?" Um, we never asked for a refund, just clear direction and common sense. He rudely yelled over my mom that he's just an ignorant farmer, and he wasn't talking to her anymore, he was dealing with me, and if looks could kill well I'd be 6ft under. At this point, I couldn't take the disrespect any longer and I did tell him he could take the stick he had shoved up his a** out so he could improve his mood. He told us to get off the property and NEVER COME BACK. He was going to call the sheriff on us for trespassing, um...we were already in our car on the way out, we didn't want to stay at that crap hole any longer. I just want to thank the Lord for my dad not being with us, but then again that man would have thought twice before he spoke. He has no regard for women, it was more than evident, and I feel sorry for his wife. Needless to say, we will never waste our money or time there again to support those back woods degenerates. If you do decide to waste your time here, be sure to not voice your opinion. It is not wanted or welcome. I did suggest he put up a sign that states that. It's actually quite laughable how ridiculous and mentally unstable these people are. read more

PLEASE READ!! Do NOT buy your tree from these people... I went in last weekend to buy a tree that we had tagged in the fall while buying pumpkins. My tag had been ripped off and the tree was gone. There was no cart or anything for the tree so I had to drive down and put it on the room of my car until I could get to the front. The two girls there (owners clearly entitled children) were beyond rude and condescending. I told them our tree had been taken and one of them laughed and said "that sucks"... then when she tied the tree to my car she said "just don't do any fish tails and this will be fine..." then laughed. She then told me that my tree was $90.00 because it's a blue spruce. I told her the tree was absolutely not a blue spruce but she insisted I was wrong and said I needed to pay the $90.00..... I might also add that neither of them realized I hadn't paid so I could have easily driven off with a free tree.... But because of these millennials, we will NEVER return... I hope the owners see this and realize they need to fix their kids attitudes as they clearly have no respect for the business handed to them. I spoke to Mr Sneed on the phone who offered me a refund for the tree which I declined. I asked him to instead, talk to his entitled girls about customer service and how to not be brats... he laughed and promised he would. Hope they aren't the future of this farm or it's doomed! Got our tree from Sneads last week after having a great experience last year. Entirely different this year. There was nothing over 7 ft tall to choose from and all the trees looked dried out. We didn't want to leave after making the 1 hour drive there so we settled on one that seemed decent enough. Well, a week later the tree is dropping needles like crazy and doesn't seem like it will even make it to Christmas. Very sad after making the long trip and spending $90!! We won't return, steer clear. Update: 3 weeks after cutting down and the tree is completely dead. Also, very skeptical that it is a blue spruce. I believe the farm is trying to scam people out of $90 for a cheap tree. (The tree has been in water the entire time, not near any heating vents). read more

We love Snead's! It is right down the road from Belvedere Plantation & half the price! There is a lot for the kids to do.The scenery is really neat too.They have a place to eat but it is only open on weekends.They don't have restrooms but they do have port a pottys. read more

We walked the gourd garden, enjoyed the Christmas tree farm, the learning shed, the hayride around the grounds, walked down to the creek and up the hiking path to even more pumpkin patches, asparagus patches and more Christmas trees! Came here for the first time this past weekend with my wifes family and all the little ones. We had a blast! So much to do! We showed up later in the afternoon and ran out of time. The kids didnt want to leave. We didnt even have time to pick pumpkins. We walked through the different trails, crawled through the worm hole, picked sunflowers, ate cupcakes, cookies and kettle corn. The price is per car which is amazing compared to other places in the area that cost per person and take all your money. We plan on coming back before Halloween to pick pumpkins and get some apple cider. We also plan to come back to pick some veggies when they are in season. Overall loved the experience and great atmosphere... Loved they were not overly crowded. Cant wait to come back! read more

We love Sneed's Farm! Progressively through out the years it has gotten more expensive...but we have never found it to be so expensive that we would stop coming (when coming for pumpkins we find we spend about a third of what we did one year at Braehead). The kids can play for hours outside and don't have to leave filthy because everything is kept so clean. It's such a great little farm. read more

I have amazing memories at this farm especially USO event. The tree was amazing that we got this year except a little prickly but it was great overall. Best local produce between Richmond and Washington! The berries are fabulous. They are full of flavor and look great to boot. The asparagus in the spring was the best I have eaten in a very long time. I bought sweet corn and a cantalope to try this time =-) (plus, the usual raspberries, blackberries, and peaches!) We visited Snead's Asparagus Farm this past weekend for their Asparagus & Wine-Tasting Festival. We got a little lost getting there, but once we got there, everything was very organized. They had some tents where you could purchase side dishes made with asparagus. We tried: grilled asparagus with tarragon butter, garlic & asparagus rice, cream of asparagus soup, and a pasta salad with asparagus. It was all really good. Then we walked around the farm and came across the wine-tasting. Hubby had to do this, since he is a lush. He tried all 4 of the dessert wines from Mattaponi Winery (a riesling, a blueberry, a strawberry, and a blackberry), and he bought a bottle of each (again, because he's a lush!)! Then we came across some horses who were very friendly. Right before we left, we stopped by the little building by the road where they sell some produce, and I bought a quart of strawberries. They were also selling snap peas and asparagus. It felt really good to support a local farm, and those strawberries were delish! read more

Whenever I want or need the best produce, Snead's Farm is where I go. All of the family members that run the farm are friendly and welcoming. They sell the best sweet corn in the area and their asparagus are always fresh and delicious. Their prices for corn and other vegetables are very reasonable. They also sell farm fresh eggs. Visited the roadside stand yesterday and discovered we failed to bring cash/check. Requested a "hold" on some berries for which the attendant graciously agreed to. Asked if we could visit the farm in back and she said this would be ok. Drove back (past welcome sign) and was soon approached by a gentleman (?) who asked if we had made a purchase. When we said we had not yet purchased, he indicated we would have to leave. When my husband indicated that we had received permission to visit, he indicated "I will need to reprimand her for that" Really!!! So sorry that after 12 years of visiting here and many purchases, I will never return! read more
