I visit Playa Del Carmen yearly to celebrate Christmas and New Years. Aside from all of the fun activities and scenery, the main thing I look forward to on my visits here is the food!
As I write this review, it is my 5th time eating here at Snack On the Beach during my 2 week stay. I've tried most of their menu items and they have all been perfectly cooked and seasoned every time. Even though this restaurant has only been open for less than a year, with the quality of food, I am surprised there isn't a queue of people out front waiting for a table to open.
Quinta Avenida is mostly flooded with "Italian" restaurants that structurally look luxurious and appealing to the eye except the food doesn't look appealing enough to draw me to a table. For most visiting Playa Del Carmen, looks will draw them to a table. For me the welcoming and homey feeling from the staff that I received from my very first visit is what makes me choose to eat here over any other Italian restaurant on or around Quinta Avenida. Granted, Snack On the Beach is a small "hole in the wall" that is literally a hop, skip, and a jump away from the beach and looks as such with only 5 tables and a small bar area. Don't let the looks fool you though because the food is amazing! The feeling is very welcoming and homey.
It is hard to choose my favorite dish from this restaurant but if I had to decide on one only it would have to be the Pesto Spaghetti. Overall I'm saddened to know that once my vacation is over I will have to wait another year to come back and enjoy the amazing food. read more
