I'd never before seen sourdough croissants or cheese danishes; there's an abundance of gorgeous loaves/boules for sale. (Cheese fondue supplies! Yes!!). A baker's rack to the right sells day-old bread at discounted prices (make your own croutons!) I opted for an almond (sourdough) croissant and a small coffee; I was asked if I wanted a mug or a to go cup? I was given a beautiful glazed mug - very charming! Two things worth mentioning: There's a small seating area downstairs, and five large tables upstairs. The stairs? A polite way of describing them is, "grandfathered-in". The rise/run makes it difficult to navigate if you're in thick boots, carrying a child, or have stiff knees. The pastry had a beautiful crunch. I enjoyed the almond flavor. And then I found: cherry preserves? I'm aware that "croissant et confiture" (eaten with jam) is a standard French breakfast, but it did change the mouth feel of the treat. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something earthier and beautifully executed.

It's been a while since I grabbed a treat from Kaylena Marie's. I'm glad to say they're as…read moredelicious today as they were the last time I stopped in, even after the various changes they've had! On a Saturday, around 11:45am, I arrived at the Hamburg bakery, the newest location of the small franchise. There was plenty of parking in the HUGE parking lot as the bakery is next to an ALDI. I walked into a large space with plenty of tables and a bar along the window with stools, reminiscent of Orchard Park's seating setup - It felt warm and inviting, plenty spacious, very easy to converse with others. It was great seeing quite a few tables filled with people sipping on coffee, pastries, sandwiches, etc.! They do have a pretty large menu of breakfast items and sandwiches along with plenty of drinks, which are listed on their menu located at the counter. Walking toward their case of goodies, I was a little surprised at the limited selection, albeit they were definitely the more popular treats. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly, fun to talk to as I placed my order. All in all, a great ordering experience and a spot I wouldn't mind sitting down and having breakfast in. So what did I order? Fall 2025, Kaylena Marie's re-introduced their "Specialty Rolls" with the big change being the size being "mini" compared to their normal cinnamon roll, which is HUGE. I'll be honest, I was a concerned the "mini" would be a tad too small, but, after ordering two, I say they are perfectly sized. For the week of 11/03/2025-11/09/2025, the Hamburg bakery's "Specialty Mini Roll" flavor was cookies and cream, dubbed the "Mini Oreo Roll", which is Kaylena Marie's roll swirled with crushed Oreo cookies, chocolate, and creamy filling then topped with more Oreo cookies and glaze. I ordered two, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. :) When the "Specialty Rolls" were giant (i.e. Kaylena's 'normal' size), this was my favorite flavor, so I was really happy when the first forkful brought me right back! The roll was as soft as I remember and the creamy inside with chocolate and Oreo cookie swirled in was excellent. The "mini" size was perfect, albeit I did have a little ice cream with it. :) But truth be told, the "mini" is the proper size for these specialty flavors. Also, stick it in the microwave for 20-25 seconds, thank me later! As for the price, in 2025, this was nicely priced, certainly not as pricey as I expected, which was another treat. Kaylena Marie's of Hamburg is an inviting bakery/café! The staff working are courteous and friendly and the treats are on-brand with the original idea of Kaylena Marie's. I will certainly be back for another batch of "Specialty Mini-Rolls" or perhaps a 'Normal' (aka GIANT) cinnamon roll for old time's sake. haha

The almond roll being my favorite as the flavor of almond with what seemed to be an almond paste saturated throughout with the most delicious glaze on top! The family was too quick to eat their goodies to take photos of but trust me, visit their social media pages amd you will see how drool worthy all of their baked goods are! Being in Town of Tonawanda, it is absolutely worth the drive to pick up any of their delicious offerings and will do so again!

Started my morning with their breakfast parfait and freshly brewed coffee while watching early birds tee off from their cozy patio. After finishing our round (don't ask about my score), we headed back to Nora's for a late lunch. The turkey pesto sandwich was a revelation. A rare affordable treat based on today's standard at golf club houses. What makes Nora's special isn't just the surprisingly creative menu for a golf course restaurant - it's the lightning-quick service even when they're packed with hungry golfers. Our server remembered us from breakfast and had drinks on the table within minutes of sitting down. Whether you're golfing or just looking for a great meal in Hamburg, Nora's on 9 delivers an experience that's well above par. It's become our go-to spot for reliable, delicious food served with a smile - no tee time required!

That can often mean high noise…read morelevels as others have noted, modern restaurant construction seems to put acoustics at the bottom of the priority list. That said, I did not find it overly loud, just loud enough where you had to raise your voice slightly. Enough about that. Johnson's Landing has a Lenten fish fry special, $20 for a full fish fry with sides, and this includes one of their specialty beers. This is a good deal to get a craft beer included with your fish fry. I actually ordered it to go and enjoyed the beer while waiting for the fish to take out. It was a very solid fish dinner, the batter was crispy, not oily. The fish was fresh, all of the sides were good, even the rye bread was a nice hearty thick cut of rye. The mac salad featured tuna, which I do like. And the fries were hot and tasty. The fish itself was not huge but was big enough for us. Every component of the fish fry dinner was on point. The barmaid was efficient and friendly, I did not have to wait. My only complaint is that they do not list beer prices on their menu, which was fine this time since it was included with the meal, but would prevent me from enjoying a stop on the way home for a beer or two. I think it is a sneaky practice, but strangely I do note prices on their website, and guess what? All draft beers are $8 including Labatt Blue Light, unless the website is now outdated. ($8 for Labatt's!! Holy Moly!) I can see why it is not on the printed menu. I really don't like when there is not full price transparency, thus four stars instead of five. However I wholeheartedly endorse the value and quality of the Lenten fish fry special.

Eventually, I went to the hostess stand to let them know we still hadn't been helped. I saw her speak to a group of waiters, yet another 5-7 minutes passed with no one coming to our table. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of urgency or concern for a family that had been sitting there waiting the entire time. I can't say for certain it was racially motivated, but we were the only Black family there while everyone else around us seemed to receive constant service and attention. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning.
