Considering everything on the menu was moderately priced why jack up the cost of water and sparkling to 2.50 for half bottles. Sorry for the rant. I would come back because it is good. I just won't order the waters anymore

I'd return and I recommend Woodpecker.

While not authentic Thai flavor food, it was quite delicious!…read more Why I go for Asian food first before local cuisines is besides me, but it sounded so good that night. The restaurant itself is located in a hip neighborhood with many other restaurants nearby, with minimal car traffic (Not sure where you park). The interior is not the largest, but it does offer a peace and tranquility with a fair amount of seating. The staff that greeted and served us during the meal was quite friendly and quick in terms of help and serving food. The menu itself is English friendly along with a few other languages, which is a plus! While I was not starving, I did not opt for any appetizers sadly, but they looked delicious. We ended up getting a large bowl of Tom Yum and Pad Thai. The restaurant was not too busy as it just had opened, but the food came out within 20 or so minutes, so I figured it would not be too bad (Quick food out of the kitchen worries me, not gonna lie). As mentioned initially, the flavors were unique, not what I was used to in regards to the Tom Yum, but that does not take away from the flavor at all as it was quite good. Serving size was quite large, enough to make me feel better about not ordering an appetizer. As for the Pad Thai, my travel partner mentioned it hit the spot and again they gave her a TON of it. Finally, price wise, do not expect to drop too much in terms of cash as it was very fair for the city and proximity to downtown. Well worth it if you are in need of some Thai goodness.

Prices were reasonable and service was great. Bathrooms were very clean. Highly recommend!

We ordered the beef stew, pork knuckle, and rabbit stew. Everything was delicious! And everything came with potatoes! We sat outside and had to put our drinks on the floor (all good!). Staff was very nice. Good thing we came right when they opened. After we were seated a line started forming.

He reminded us of a combination of Neil Fak (from The Bear) and Lazlow (from What We Do in the Shadows). He was coordinating the line, seating, and gave outstanding recommendations, as well as praise, when we picked our wine. We were quoted about 45 minutes to wait, as they don't take reservations. A two-top opened up inside and Julian was concerned that it would be too hot, so he made me go inside to check first. Thankfully, it was right by the open area leading to outside, so we took it and were seated in about 20 minutes, rather than 45. The place was packed the entire time we were there; its reputation certainly precedes it. Good energy and beautifully decorated with stunning art inside. Carbonades a la Biere (beef stew; 19.45 Euros) is their speciality and was delicious! So reasonably priced for the flavor and te size of the dish! After Julian mentioned that the lamb is the best dish on the menu, there was no question that I was ordering it. Jarret d'Agneau Roti (Roasted Lamb Shank; 27.35 Euros) was so very good! Full of Rosemary and so tender! As Julian was running by, I quickly asked him: "Tiramisu or Tarte Tatin?" No hesitation, he replied, "Tarte Tatin." I wasn't sure if he actually put the order in for us or not, but then it arrived at our table and it was delicious! Pear Tarte (8.65 Euros) with a side of ice cream. Not too sweet, with lovely spices in the pears. Cash only, always a line, but totally worth it!

I am so sorry to not rave about this place like everyone else did…read more To start with the positives: -cute, cozy spot inside with a few outdoor tables. No reservations, so you have to wait in line. Luckily, the line moved pretty quickly and we were able to be seated inside. -service was great. The fabulously dressed flamboyant gentleman was kind and helpful. The sassy woman was hilarious! -Portions are pretty decently sized and priced fairly Why three stars? I just didn't enjoy anything that we ordered. Sadly, it was my least favorite meal that we had in Belgium. Based on all the reviews, I think it's clear that it's not the place per se, but what I was looking for. That being said, I still must be honest. What we ordered: Cheddar Croquettes (2 for 14 Euros): Just ok and this was one of the things that I felt was overpriced Carpaccio of Smoked Beef with White Truffle Oil (18 Euros): Again, just ok Meatloaf with "Jack Pepper" sauce (26 Euros): "Jack Pepper" means something different in Brussels. It was basically a peppercorn gravy. I wasn't a fan, but Jim G. enjoyed it. With this, we had frites and a small side salad. I know many people recommend that Flemish Beef Stew, but we already had that at Fin de Siecle, and I couldn't imagine that any place would top it, so we didn't get it here. Ultimately, this place isn't for me, but I seem to be in the minority.

All of the fish came out super fresh, crispy, and flavorful. My favorite was the "monthly special", which was a spicy Cajun seasoning - but I also really enjoyed the Lemon & Basil and the Rosemary Thyme flavors as well. One thing to note though - service is a bit slow since I assume they're making and frying everything to order in the back for freshness, so just be prepared to wait a bit for your food.

My Lin Bowl came with three super low-quality spring rolls -- nothing close to classic Vietnamese spring rolls -- vermicelli, reasonably seasoned tofu, and various crunchy veggies (no real dark greens though). My wife's bowl came with what looked and tasted like vegan chicken nuggets (seriously?), shredded veggies, edamame beans, and white rice. At €16-17 per bowl, the size was slightly small but acceptable. I can't see we were particularly impressed, but I suppose we have unrealistically high standards coming from the vegan Asian food heaven that is Vancouver.
