I spent almost a year thinking about SMP before finally deciding to book a consultation. After doing some research, I chose SMP Ink in Danville due to their excellent reviews and proximity to my home. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable and at ease. Their facility was incredibly clean and well-maintained. There was a classroom in the back and a few procedure rooms in the front. Everything indicated that they were knowledgeable and professional. I went to SMP Ink and worked with Janelle on permanent eyeliner. In person, Janelle is super professional, great at answering your questions and making you feel comfortable. I selected her based off a recommendation from a trusted source that she is both an artist and a teacher (so she should have lots of experience), and since they do SMP, they had a warm brown ink tone that I wanted (black is not for me). She talked through the procedure and the aftercare clearly. The location is clean and nicely set up. The rooms are comfortable and there are plenty of streaming options to view while you are getting work done. I scheduled the appointment through their website and messaged Janelle over text. She was a bit hard to get to (a few follows up texts on my questions, she didn't send me pictures directly of her work), but she explained she just got a new phone and was dealing with the changeover. Having had permanent make up before, I was prepared to be uncomfortable. She used her standard numbing cream and kept it on for about an hour before starting the work. After the third pass with no other pain management options I had to ask her to stop. My eyelids were pretty swollen at that point so we agreed we would stop and clean it up on the touch up. She gave me the aftercare card and an aftercare cream and sent me off. When I got home, and read the aftercare card, some of the details seemed a bit different than what she had said in person, but I followed what was on the card. (Later i discovered that a third set of slightly different instructions are on their website). Over the next few days I was finding the aftercare cream to be irritating my eyes. I was surprised that she hadn't sent me any sort of follow up check in, so I sent her a message but was basically told, follow the aftercare instructions exactly. After continuing to follow the instructions, I was uncomfortable and disappointed to find that all her work scabbed off and was gone. I messaged her before the follow up to see what could be done differently. Did I need to find a new cream, is there a different technique that I need? I was very open to the possibility of me doing something wrong, but I wanted to proactively set myself up for success. After a few follow ups on my end, she essentially told me again, that results depended on the aftercare. The second round was equally painful, went a bit longer, and after again following everything exactly, almost nothing stayed. During the second round, she had offered an option for a third touch up, and when I contacted her she asked for pictures then never responded. I feel like I shouldn't have to follow up 2-3 times to get the results I paid for, especially when following the aftercare as best as I could due to the contradictions. Another artist looked at the work after it had healed and said she didn't use a technique appropriate for eyelids. It feels like maybe she is very good at SMP work, but maybe eyeliner was outside of her range. Overall disappointed in paying so much and spending 5+ hours in pain for no results. read more

Not even knowing how to start this review considering I have so much to say about Jennelle. She has literally changed my life and gave me soo much more confidence in myself. First time meeting her, My best friend and I came in for teeth whitening. She was soo welcoming and sweet. As for our whitening, we both had instant results which proceeded to get whiter throughout the next few days (like she said they would). After that I was hooked. I scheduled an appointment to get SMP on my receding hairline which I was soo insecure about. Came back for my first session and could've literally cried after she finished.
